Chapter 147: Recommendation

"This is a sneak attack. Release me right now!" The lightning mage shouted with fury in his eyes, his gaze threatening to tear through Alex’s skull.

Alex remained indifferent to this and gradually tightened his grip around the boy. Clear bone popping sounds could be heard through the entire stadium and caused shivers to run down the bodies of those watching.

The two referees in the arena glanced at each other before looking at Alex and the lightning mage. They didn’t know what to do since the boy didn’t look like he was planning to surrender.

"Give up," Alex said in a soft tone after a while. He didn’t plan to go any further than this; participating in this tournament was already unfair for the other students, considering his true strength, so he had decided to keep his performance to the point of not harming them unnecessarily. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

But the lightning mage remained stubborn despite the pain he was feeling, he gritted his teeth and controlled the ten purple stars above him to resume moving to form his star patterns.

He wanted to cast his spell despite being captured by Alex already!

Seeing this, a look of disapproval appeared on Alex’s face before he casually waved his hand to the side. Following his movement, the body of the lighting mage shot to the side with blinding speed.

The boy turned into a blur that shuttled across the airspace of the arena like a cannon shot before crashing into the barrier.

BAM!

Visible ripples spread through the surface of the barrier that had been unshaken since the start of the tournament after the boy’s body slammed into it before he dropped to the ground.

The spectators gasped again. Alex’s parents stared at him, standing calmly in the arena with their mouths wide open, while Emily cheered excitedly.

The two referees immediately rushed over to where the boy was to check on him. They found out that he had passed out and some of his bones had broken.

While one of them carried the unconscious body of the boy out from the arena and handed him over to his teacher who was waiting outside, the other referee announced the end of the match in Alex’s victory.

The name of the Dragonic Magic Academy was projected boldly in the air, but instead of the cheers that usually resounded after every match, the stadium was quiet except for the voice of Emily, who couldn’t stop screaming with excitement.

A thought formed in many people’s minds.

Ruthless!

Alex looked at the boy who had been brought out of the arena, a plant mage who had passed the Core mage rank had been called to use a healing spell on him.

The teacher of the boy shot a glare at Alex who was still in the arena, anger clearly written all over his face.

Alex shrugged his shoulders, indifferent before strolling out of the arena and returning to the sitting area of the academy.

At the top of the stadium, the Archmage, as well as the leading figures of the Balon City Union branch, stared at Alex with different thoughts in mind. Some showed interest while others had frowns on their faces.

"A second one with the space element, to think two space mages would appear in such a place." The Archmage commented while rubbing his chin.

"Despite being an Adept mage, he was able to defeat an opponent who was stronger than him; he’ll definitely do well if given a chance to learn in a magic university." The young man beside the Archmage added.

"He’s too ruthless, he didn’t need to throw his opponent like that. Besides, the space element is a cheat amongst the elements which was why he was able to win." The lady said, clearly unhappy with what Alex had done.

The young man turned to look at her with a shocked expression. He couldn’t believe that he was hearing those words from her, who would have most likely done the same thing.

"It’s the result that matters. He clearly gave his opponent a chance to surrender, but his opponent was too stubborn; knocking him out was definitely the best way to end everything. Let’s watch his performance for the rest of the tournament, I might give him a recommendation." The Archmage announced to the two after doing some thinking.

The two young people were startled by the Archmage’s words, and they turned to look at him with wide eyes.

"What, you’re going to give something so precious to an Adept mage?"

"He might have a rare element, but there are still hundreds of people with similar elements in the capital. His element is useless if he’s not talented as a mage!"

The two tried to persuade the Archmage to change his decision. While they argued back and forth, branch leader Clint and William quietly listened. Their gazes traced Alex back to the sitting area of the Dragonic Magic Academy after hearing the Archmage talking about giving him a recommendation.

’Did that academy always have such a student?’ They were curious.

In the sitting area of the Blue Void Magic Academy, the boy from earlier looked surprised after watching Alex’s match and he turned to Laura.

"Seems like I was wrong, you might actually get the chance to meet him." He chuckled.

Meanwhile, after returning to the sitting area of his academy, everyone was still staring at him as if he were an alien.

The mouth of Amelia and the rest were wide open and their expressions were ones of admiration and worship. The vice dean suppressed the joyful smile that was threatening to stretch her lips as she glanced at Alex. As for teacher Arnold, the man looked like he had swallowed a bug; his expression was ugly.

Alex didn’t bother with any of them and acted like they were invisible as he went back to watching the next match in the arena.

After Alex’s fight with the student from Black Rose Magic Academy, another two matches took place before it was the turn of the Blue Void Magic Academy.

As the names of the two academies were projected, both students walked into the arena.

A look of shock and disbelief appeared on the faces of many students and teachers from Dragonic Magic Academy when they saw the red-haired girl in the uniform of the Blue Void Magic Academy, who had come on stage.

It was Laura! She was representing the Blue Void Magic Academy in the solo matches of the tournament!

A small grin formed on Alex’s lips after seeing this, which meant that he still had a chance of fighting against Laura and defeating her. He shot a glance at teacher Arnold through the corner of his eyes before looking away.

In the arena, Laura looked in the direction of the Dragonic Magic Academy’s sitting area. The students and teachers thought that she was looking at them, but her eyes were actually fixed on the red-haired Alex.

A look of disgust appeared on her face before she looked away.

Everyone else besides Alex "..."

They thought that Laura was staring at them in general and that disgusted glare was meant for them. Did she now despise them after leaving and joining the more powerful magic academy?

The heck?!
