Chapter 84: Fight or Not?

{Hello everyone, I have been dealing with a lot for quite a while now and I just reread the book and feel it is time I continue. For those of you who have supported me from the beginning, thank you for all your comments. Rereading them has really helped me see that I should have never listened to the ex when she said to stop writing, so here we go, everyone...}

*Axel’s POV*

Jumping back just as the phantom blade moved through the space that my neck had been, I could feel chills down my spine while thinking about what would have happened if the blade had touched me. My gaze locked onto Dustin with laser precision.

He twitched his hand, and after the last attack, that was enough for me to know that I had to move. But instead of jumping back again, I leapt up and forward with great speed.

In a flash, I was upon him, swinging my fist at his face. I was too slow, though, as he brought the blade up to intercept me.

*Silvara’s POV*

I watched as my man battled the ugly bastard with the tiny cock. At first, I was not so worried, but when I saw the blade appear in the shit stain’s hands, my entire being revolted against it.

I don’t think I have felt anything as disgusting as being in the presence of such a horrid artifact. My bloodline was activating on its own, condensing a shield of raw power around my sister-mates and me.

To my horror, I watched as Axel was barely dodging the strikes from Dustin.

I felt a soft, warm hand on mine before hearing Taylor’s voice, calm and soothing.

"Sil, calm down, Axel will be fine."

I turned to look at her and saw her still holding my hand with a face full of worry. I could tell that she was just as anxious about the whole situation.

Looking around, I could see all of my sister mates were trying to conceal their own worry for our man. It was at this time that I felt a stinging sensation in my palm.

Glancing down, I realized in my own worry, I had been clenching my fist hard enough to draw blood with my nails. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

A ripple of power spread out when Axel jumped towards Dustin. I couldn’t see what happened, but as the two got close, a bright blue light, like the soulfire Axel and Amani both use, flared into existence.

The shield of power my bloodline had created wavered as it tried to block the shockwave that had spread out. Just as it was about to deplete, I felt my father come up beside me and lend his strength to my shield, empowering it enough to hold out against the power.

It was almost ten seconds before I could see what had happened.

*Axel’s POV*

As we neared, I felt a power in me raring to be let out. So, I let it out. To my surprise, it was my soulfire jumping into existence. Along with that power surging from my body, my transformation shifted slightly, taking on more of Amani’s characteristics.

As his blade neared me again, I felt I would be fine now, so I raised my hand in defense, this time coating my hand in soulfire.

I caught his blade, and the shockwave of power that released between us was immense. Smoke and dust surrounded us, and I could see the look of joy on Dustin’s face turn savage, thinking that I was finally going to die.

His assumption was completely wrong, though. My soulfire completely eradicated the power emanating from the phantom blade, as if it were a direct counter to the blade’s power.

Feeling this, I started flaring my power to have my soulfire wrap entirely around the blade, negating its power all the way. I then clenched my fist, shattering the blade.

"H-how is this possible, you should be dead right now!" Dustin had gone into hysterics after seeing his trump card being destroyed.

Honestly, I was a bit surprised as well because I didn’t know that my soulfire was a counter to the Underworld power.

[DING]

[Good usage of your soulfire, Host! I was just about to tell you that you had an ability that you could use to counter it.]

Smirking slightly to myself at her words, I kept it to myself that it was purely on instinct that the power activated to protect me.

I had felt slight pulls from it earlier, but I hadn’t thought much of it. Turning back to Dustin, I could tell that his mind was breaking from the situation.

I could understand that he had complete confidence in the items that were given to him. Such confidence that, when I completely neutralized them, it felt like a blow to what he thought was reality.

"Dude, I understand that I broke those artifacts, but cmon man, you’re acting like you just lost your soul. Are we actually going to fight now or not?"

Hearing my words, Dustin trembled with rage as his eyes turned red.

"Heh, you have no idea what you have made me do now."

Saying so, he reached into his storage ring again, pulling out a sleek-looking phone and quickly found a number before pressing the call button.

I just raised my brow at him, waiting for him to contact whoever it was that he was calling.

It didn’t take long for the call to connect, and I could make out a gruff voice on the other end.

"What is it now?"

*Unknown POV*

I was minding my own business all those months ago, doing my work, making artifacts. Well, work is a strong word. I guess I should give my whole story. A few centuries ago, I found I had a knack for artifacing and made a bunch of different ones to sell and make a bit of money, as it isn’t cheap living in the Underworld.

Turned out I made some really overpowered stuff compared to what was in the Overworld at the time. It gave me a pretty crazy reputation as one of the best in the world, a title I still hold.

Anyways, after seeing all the havoc people were causing with the stuff I created, I slowly pulled back from society, especially after people started hunting me.

So teaching and artifacing became part-time hobbies for me, and I had a few good students. Most of the time, though, I never returned to the limelight.

I took up residence near what I thought was just a small cave, building a small cottage for myself. Bless or curse my phantom bloodlines luck, it turned out that the small cave was a forgotten passage to the Overworld.

Through that cave one day a young man appeared. He was gentle and calm enough that I didn’t mind having him around. Over time, the young man came around more often. I gradually came to somewhat like the young man and thought about teaching him artificing.

When I broached the subject, he seemed excited, and just as I was about to continue, he asked if I could give him a couple of artifacts to keep him safe, saying the Overworld was a completely ruthless place nowadays.

Trusting the young man slightly, I gave him a couple that were sure to protect him, a soul-eating scarab and a phantom blade that can cut through almost anything except for powers like celestial magic or something like hellfire or even the rarer soulfire.

As I was making my lunch, a call came to my phone. Looking at the screen, I saw that it was the young man named Dustin calling. Not thinking much up to this point, I answered the call.

"What is it now?"

His aggrieved, angry voice came through the speaker, trembling.

"U-uncle Styx, I-I need your help! My father and I are going to be killed, and a crazy man has brainwashed Princess Eva!"

Hearing what he said, I felt my blood boil. I couldn’t believe anyone would want to kill Dustin! He is such a good boy, always respectful and kind.

"Where are you now, boy? I will come straight there."

As I spoke, my aura started becoming heavier and heavier as my Saint Realm cultivation started blasting from my body.

*Dustin’s POV*

I smirked, hearing Styx’s words. I knew befriending that bleeding heart from the Underworld would be good for something. With him coming here, I know I can come out on top in this situation.

Looking at that asshole with his blue fire moving around his body as if it were alive, I couldn’t help but imagine him being squashed flat by Styx.

"I am in the Libertine Kingdoms Palace. I will send you my location now."

Saying so, I sent it quickly. Looking at the man in front of me again, I got even more irked by his nonchalant attitude.

"I’m on my way now. Do your best to stay alive."

BEEP

BEEP

BEEP

Styx hung up quickly after that.

"Enjoy all of your pitiful lives while you still have them. The Phantom Artifacer Styx is coming now!"

*Gasp* X2

I felt giddy as the King and Byron gasped, hearing the name I said.

"You are a fool. Why would you call him and lie to him?"

An annoying voice broke through my joy, pissing me off once again.

*Axel’s POV*

Hearing the blatant lie coming out of this jackass’s mouth was interesting to say the least—just another guy trying to turn black to white.

[DING]

[Host, why didn’t you stop him from contacting that man?]

Speaking internally to Sylph, I replied," Well, to be honest, I was really wanting to meet the person who gives him so much confidence. It is a shame, though, that another person is trying to twist the facts once again.

[Ah, I see. Host, you need to understand that there are a lot of people who are like that in this world and many more on plenty of other worlds. Also, I want you to remember that just because someone is from the Underworld, that doesn’t mean that they will be inherently evil. The people there are mostly like people here in the Overworld, just trying to survive their day-to-day lives.]

"Of course, Sylph."

I reassured her before looking back at Dustin to hear him saying something.

"Enjoy all of your pitiful lives while you still have them. The Phantom Artifacer Styx is coming now!"

*Gasp* X2

I heard my in-laws gasp, hearing the name of who he had contacted, but I really didn’t think much of it, especially after hearing Sylph’s words. The likelihood of this guy being an enemy is highly unlikely.

"You are a fool. Why would you call him and lie to him?"

I just spoke my mind because I really couldn’t understand why he thought that someone who can make overpowered artifacts wouldn’t be able to parse out his lies as soon as he got here.

"Axel, you don’t understand, son. Phantom Artificer Styx is a legend who made 500 different artifacts, and each one is enough for a low-ranking kingdom to become a mid-ranking kingdom." King Mathias told me.

My other Father-in-law continued," Exactly, he has been away from the world for so long that everyone thought he had been planning a large-scale invasion of the Overworld for a long while now."

Hearing what they said, I saw a shifty look on Dustin’s face, making me think even more that no one knows who this guy is. Also, Sylph wouldn’t specifically tell me something like that for no reason.

At this time, we all felt an oppressive aura speeding towards us from the same direction Dustin had come from.

"Haha, here he comes, you are all dead meat now."

At this time, I looked over to my father-in-law, Byron, knowing he was the strongest of us here to see his reaction. To say the least, I wasn’t expecting to see his face pale as he pulled his sword out and heard him mumble," Peak Saint Realm..."

Hearing those words and seeing his reaction, I knew the man who was coming was even stronger than Byron. I steeled my nerves as we waited for the newcomer to arrive.

At some point, Lozen and Amani had both appeared by my sides in their expanded forms and started radiating their deadly auras. My women were next, without a word to me, they all came to my sides, ready to put their lives on the line in the supposed coming fight.

Just as I was about to explain that everything was most likely going to be fine, he finally arrived, slamming his aura down and bellowing out.

"Who dares hurt my little friend Dustin and even threatens to kill him? And where is the young lady who has been brainwashed? I need to see her immediately so I can help her!"
