Beloved One of the Prestigious Household-Chapter 392: Invitation
Qin Sui’an recalled her grandmother’s teachings and opened her eyes to find the surroundings suddenly quiet. She looked at her grandmother seriously, then closed her eyes again, holding her grandmother’s hand. As their hands connected, Qin Sui’an heard her grandmother’s thoughts: [It seems Ann has succeeded.]
"Did Ann succeed?" she exclaimed, excitement shining on her little face. "I just heard Grandma’s thoughts!"
"Yes, you succeeded." Old Mrs. Ye smiled proudly at her. "Ann is great."
Qin Sui’an shyly pressed her lips together, unable to contain her joy. "That’s wonderful!"
Old Mrs. Ye gently stroked her granddaughter’s head. "From now on, Ann can choose whether to listen to others’ thoughts, so you won’t feel dizzy from too many voices."
Turning her little body, Qin Sui’an hugged her grandmother around the waist and nuzzled into her embrace. "Thank you, Grandma!"
With this good method taught by her grandmother, Ann wouldn’t be afraid to go to crowded places anymore.
"You’re welcome." Old Mrs. Ye smiled, then added seriously, "Ann, this must remain a secret. No one can know, even your daddy."
"Not even Daddy?" Qin Sui’an looked up with wide eyes.
"No." Old Mrs. Ye rarely showed such seriousness, shaking her head. "No one can know."
After a moment’s hesitation, Qin Sui’an nodded vigorously. "Okay! Ann remembers, it’s a secret from everyone, even Daddy."
Then her little brows furrowed. "But can I tell Daddy that I don’t have to listen to so many thoughts?"
This way, her father wouldn’t worry too much about her Mind-Reading Skill or that crowds made her dizzy.
"Sure," Old Mrs. Ye understood her concerns. "If your daddy asks how you did it, just say it’s a secret and you can’t say."
Old Mrs. Ye believed that this way, her son-in-law wouldn’t pry further.
Qin Sui’an nodded earnestly. "Got it!"
The morning meeting at Ye Corporation lasted nearly an hour. Ye Rongyuan announced its conclusion and left the conference room with his father. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
As Old Mr. Ye walked alongside his son, he asked, "How’s the collaboration with Shi Corporation going?"
"Dad, I’ve scheduled a meeting with President Shi today to discuss it." But this was just a plan, as Ye Rongyuan wanted to delay it a bit since Ann was visiting.
Old Mr. Ye glanced at him. "President Shi is older than you, so be respectful. Don’t be too cocky. Collaborating with Shi Corporation is beneficial for us."
Ye Rongyuan rubbed his nose, mumbling, "When was I cocky? I’m always polite in business."
His father was right; cooperating with Shi Corporation would only benefit Ye Corporation, depending on Shi Corporation’s demands.
Just as they approached the office, an assistant hurried up from behind, covering the phone’s receiver while whispering to Ye Rongyuan, "Sir, President Shi called to ask if you’re free today to discuss the collaboration."
Ye Rongyuan paused, grinning at his father. "Dad, it looks like Shi Corporation is eager to collaborate with us too."
It was clearly a win-win situation, with no one taking advantage of the other.
Old Mr. Ye would not interfere in his son’s decisions; supporting him was unconditional, but he aimed to temper his son’s arrogance.
"Don’t treat business lightly. Be serious," Old Mr. Ye warned.
"Understood! Chairman!" Ye Rongyuan replied with a laugh and turned to the assistant. "This afternoon is fine."
The assistant carefully inquired, "President, should I tell President Shi that we can meet at 2 PM?"
"Sure." Ye Rongyuan was satisfied with that time, as Ann would be napping then.
"Got it, Sir." The assistant retreated, relaying the time to President Shi.
Ye Rongyuan returned to his office to handle leftover details from the meeting. As he sat down, he stretched his long legs, and suddenly, a loud honk echoed from under his desk.
"Quack!" It was the goose!
Ye Rongyuan jumped, startled. "Ah! What is that... A big white goose? What are you doing under my desk? Are you weird?"
"Quack, quack!!" You’re the weird one!
The big white goose angrily flapped its wings as it emerged from under the desk, quacking in annoyance. Unfortunately, Ye Rongyuan couldn’t understand its complaints.
He pointed at it. "When did you get in my office? What were you hiding under my desk for?"
"Quack!" It hated being pointed at!
The goose slapped its wing against his finger with enough force to push it away, proudly tilting its head.
"Are you challenging me?" Ye Rongyuan stood up, towering over the goose, ready to "subdue" it. "If it weren’t for you being Ann’s pet, I would have had the guards chop you up by now."
"Quack!" Such audacity! The goose decided to complain to little Ann!
It turned to dash toward the office door.
Ye Rongyuan realized that, even though he couldn’t understand its language, he guessed it was heading to find Ann. That wouldn’t do; he loved little animals in front of her, including this goose.
He quickly scooped it up. "My good goose, I was just joking! I wouldn’t dare harm you; you’re Ann’s pet, so you’re mine too."
"Quack!" Shameful human!
The goose felt insulted being carried and struggled vigorously.
Ye Rongyuan kindly returned it to the space under the desk. "Here, my good goose, if you like being under my desk, stay there. I won’t bother you."
Once freed, the goose immediately dashed out from under the desk and shook its feathers.
Ye Rongyuan watched it, expecting it to run away, but after a moment of hesitation, it stayed put, and he relaxed. "You shouldn’t hide under my desk. It’s frightening. I won’t blame you; we’ll call it even."
The goose stared at him in silence, deciding not to argue; it wasn’t a petty goose.
Both the man and the goose finally calmed down and could talk peacefully.
The goose tapped its wings against his desk leg. "Quack!"
Ye Rongyuan bent down to see what it was pointing at, realizing something had fallen under the desk.
The goose had been there to retrieve this item, which coincidentally he found upon returning.
He laughed as he squatted down to pick it up—a banquet invitation.
Seeing that he had retrieved the invitation, the goose plopped down beside him and explained, "Quack..."
During the meeting, a secretary must have been startled by the goose and fled, leaving the invitation behind, fearing the goose might chase him.
The goose felt wronged; it was gentle and wouldn’t bite anyone!
Ye Rongyuan sighed, placing the invitation on the desk. He didn’t have time to examine it now.
There were plenty of wealthy and idle individuals, especially young heirs, who would invite him to banquets due to his age and status as President of Ye Corporation.
Whether to attend was one matter; not being invited was another.
After finishing up the leftover tasks from the meeting, he glanced at the goose. "Why aren’t you looking for Ann? What are you doing in my office?"
"Quack..." Little Ann is with her grandmother; I don’t want to interrupt them.
The goose shook its head in response.
Ye Rongyuan decided not to ask; it was a waste of breath.
He sighed and focused on his work, ignoring the goose.
The goose busied itself wandering around his office.
Once Ye Rongyuan finished his tasks, the goose dashed to the office door, waiting for him to open it to find little Ann together.
Ye Rongyuan called his assistant on the intercom to take the documents away, stood up, and walked toward the door, raising an eyebrow when he saw the goose waiting. "How did you know I was going to find Ann?"
