Beta Complex-Chapter 67: You Don’t Just Kidnap Someone!
Ethan cringes. "It’s fine momma." He chuckles and groans at the sharp pain in his neck. "I’m fine. I’m already feeling tons better." It’s a lie though, he feels exactly the same as he did before. Not any better, but at least he’s not any worse, either.
"Give me his address." She snaps, and there’s noise in the background before it goes silent again. "I’m coming to see you."
"Oh," Ethan’s eyebrows raise and he glances over at Zander once more. She’s not unreasonable to ask that, in fact it makes sense. For some reason, Ethan feels skeptical though. "No, you don’t-"
"Address! Now Ethan!" Roxanne demands.
Ethan winces and waves the alpha over with the phone in his hand. He puts the phone down, his mom still on the line, and relays the message. Zander doesn’t look put off at having her visit, and happily gives her his address.
"I’m closing at noon. Expect me then." The older woman hangs up after that.
"I’m sorry." Ethan sighs as he hands the phone back to the alpha. Zander glances down at it before putting it into his back pocket.
"It’s fine. My mother would react the same way." He laughs. Ethan blinks up at him, he doesn’t remember Zander ever talking about his family. Now that he thinks about it, he doesn’t know a lot about the dominant alpha.

"Where is my son?" Is the first thing the older woman says when Zander opens the front door. The alpha has to tilt his head down to look at her. She’s in a T-shirt and jeans, her cheap leather purse clutched tight in her hands. She glares up at him, not the least bit intimidated of his towering frame. Behind her, Leo shuffles on his feet, his hands held in front of him. He gives Zander an awkward wave.
While it wasn’t mentioned that the omega was also coming over, Zander doesn’t mind.
"I’m glad you got here alright." Zander smiles softly. He steps to the side and sweeps his arm out, gesturing for them to enter, "Please come in."
Roxanne doesn’t hesitate to walk past him, her eyes scanning the large sitting room for Ethan. She frowns when she doesn’t see him.
"Hey." Leo chuckles and Zander gives him a smile as he shuts the door behind him.
"Ethan is in here." Zander leads the way to his room. As soon as he opens the door Roxanne pushes him out of the way and hurries into the room.
"Oh, my baby!" She gushes as soon as she spots her son laying in the large bed. She tosses her purse onto the arm chair nearby and leans down, giving every inch of Ethan’s face a kiss. "Just what is he thinking, locking you up in this dark and dreary room?" She says as she pulls away. She turns to glare at Zander over her shoulder and Zander rubs the back of his neck.
It’s funny to see him act sheepish while his mother scolds him. Leo takes the spot on Ethan’s other side and frowns at the casts.
"Momma." Ethan groans as she continues to fuss over him, stating her complaints.
She moves over to the windows and opens the curtains, letting in the sunlight. "Geez it’s like death threw up in here."
"Mother!" Ethan scolds, eyes shifting to the alpha across the room. He shrugs, which Ethan takes as him not minding his mother’s antics. It doesn’t make it any less rude, however.
Zander laughs when Roxanne inspects the equipment attached to Ethan. "It’s fine." He waves off Ethan’s concern once more.
"Fine my ass." Leo mutters. "Momma Rox is right." He runs his hand through Ethan’s hair and frowns at the knots he catches. He tuts beneath his breath and digs around in the backpack he brought with him. He lays out multiple beauty care items in the space between them. First he grabs the small brush and detangles the betas strands of hair.
"You." Roxanne points at Zander. She struts over to him, her sneakers quiet on the bedroom floor. Ethan gapes as she grabs the large alpha by his ear and drags him to the opposite side of the room. "You may be a dominant alpha with money to spare on anything you want, but you don’t just kidnap someone!" She scolds him. Zander is bent at the waist, his face strained as her fingers pinch at his lobe.
"He didn’t-" Ethan tries to defend him.
"Not a word, son." Roxanne looks at him over her shoulder. Her brown eyes are vivid with rage and concern, and Ethan chews on his lower lip. It should be fine, right?
Roxanne turns back to zander. "It’s in poor manners, and worse than that, you made the people around him worry!" She gestures to Leo behind her. "Now what do you have to say for yourself?"
Zander blinks green eyes, his lashes long against his cheekbones. Then he clears his throat and stares at the ground. "I deeply apologize. I wasn’t thinking of the after effects."
"Damn right, you weren’t." She huffs. She takes in his pitiful stance and finally releases her hold on his ear. Zander awkwardly stands back up, avoiding everyone’s gaze. Roxanne sighs and softly pats the alpha’s cheek, "You must’ve been very worried for him, right?" She asks.
Zander nods his head, finally looking her in the eyes. She searches them, and as if she’s satisfied, she hums and turns back to Ethan to sit on the bed beside him. "Go get us some water." She waves at the alpha, not bothering to look back at him. Leo snickers but Zander happily does as she asks.
Leo chuckles, "It’s fun to watch you get mad at someone who isn’t me."
Roxanne rolls her eyes. "If you didn’t cause so much trouble I wouldn’t have to be mad at you."
Leo clears his throat and turns his attention to Ethan. "You look like a hot mess. Luckily I brought you facials."
