Betrothed To An Alpha? I Don't Think So!-Chapter 99: You Are…Crazy
Chapter 99: You Are...Crazy
"I have somewhere to be," Zayne responded as he reached for the shirt that had been brought for him to slip into.
"Zayne!"
Siena grabbed his arm.
"You can’t leave. You can’t go anywhere right now. You just transferred a lot of brothers to your brother and doing anything now is not good for your health. I know we are not humans, but—"
He shot her a withering glare, hands balled into the tightest of fists. "Are you kidding me?!"
"Z-zayne...."
"My mate is fucking miss, and you want me to sit around here doing nothing. I don’t know how she’s doing, I don’t even know if she’s well. The more time I waste not finding her, the worse things might get for her. And you think I want to sit around here, merely because you’re worried about my health?"
"Listen to me, Siena." He spoke harshly, his hot breath slamming her face. "That woman is not just my mate. I love her, and finding her—if saving her means I might die, then so be it. I don’t care. I would die for her. Do you understand me? I would give my life for her, because for the third time, I refuse to sit and watch her slip off my fingers. I refuse to watch her die and have to wait over and over again before I can meet her again. I will not go through that pain again. And this time, I will save her. And I don’t care what it’ll cost me."
He stormed off, grabbing the coat along.
Siena stood frozen, staring into nothing.
For years...he’d loved Zayne Mancini, and even when he never reciprocated her feelings, she never stopped loving him.
Loving him hurt, but she kept going, hoping that one day he would change his mind. For five years and counting. Zayne Mancini never did. The biggest affection he’d ever offered her was a friendly look, nothing more.
Yet, a human he’d known only for two months, he’s ready to die for her? He’s ready to go to the end of the earth for her?
"You’re joking with me."
She chuckled.
"You’re joking with me, Zayne."
She burst into laughter, slowly, but eventually morphing into a cry that she couldn’t hold back.
Siena dropped to her knees, clutching her chest.
"For five years I’ve loved you, you couldn’t even look at me fully for once. Always keeping your eyes away like I meant nothing that deep to you. And now...you’re ready to die for a human..."
"...And you’d only know her for two months. Why? Why...? Why is she better than I? What does she have that I don’t? Why couldn’t you love me too?"
She slammed her chest with her fist over and over again, until she couldn’t tell which pain she was feeling.
....
Zayne, who’d been on the road for close to thirty minutes now, pulled off to park outside a warehouse.
He stepped down, cracked his neck from side to side before walking towards the house.
Stepping in, he closed the door behind him, locking it, his gaze shifting to the center of the warehouse where Silas had been seated, strapped to the chair.
Silas’s head was lowered, but from the way he was breathing, Zayne knew that he was awake.
He didn’t need to stress with Alessio to find Evelyn. He just needed this man to know where to find her.
He slipped on his gloves, cracked his knuckles, and approached him, grabbing him by a good chunk of his hair.
"Where is she?" he asked.
Silas slowly blinked his eyes open and looked at him. "Why would I tell you?"
"Don’t get me mad. I’m not really in the mood. You’re only going to make things worse for yourself," Zayne warned.
Silas stared at him and his lips slowly curled into a smile. "I don’t know what kind of freak you are, but you don’t scare me, Mr. Mancini. I’m not afraid to die, I’ve never been, so you can go ahead and kill me if you like. You’ll never find her, and you’ll never know where she is. At least not from me."
"Is that so?"
Zayne nodded slightly.
"I see. I guess I can handle you without a single care then. You should brace yourself because it will hurt."
He straightened up and walked over to the only table within the room. He opened the drawer and trailed his fingers across the weapons inside. A pair of knives, a pistol, and whatnot.
He picked up the pistol, walked back to him slowly with a soft smile on his face.
"Have you ever loved someone?" He asked.
Silas looked at him like he’d lost his mind. "Meaning what?"
"Answer my question."
Zayne loaded bullets into the pistol and fixed a silencer around the mouth.
"I asked if you’ve ever loved someone."
Silas’s gaze shifted to the weapon. He tried to swallow the lump in his throat, but he found it hard to even breathe. "What are you trying to do? Kill me?"
"Kill you?" Zayne chuckled softly. "Are you stupid? If I killed you, how would I find her? No..."
He laughed.
"I need you in order to find my woman. The thing is, I’m going to torture you until you give me the answer I want. You can try to be brave and withstand the pain, but it’s all going to be a futile effort. Why?"
He approached him, hunching to press the tip of the gun against his temple.
"I’m going to put you through pain over and over again. Until your brain can no longer withstand it. Until you wish for nothing but for me to kill you. The thing though is, even if you beg me, I will not kill you. I will keep you alive and I will put you through hell."
He stepped back, aimed the pistol at his leg, and shot at his kneecap.
Silas’s scream erupted, and he wiggled against the chair, trying to break free. The pain was excruciating, coursing through his body unbearably.
Zayne walked back and forth, tilting his head side to side at the sound of his scream.
"Why...? Why are you doing this to me?"
"Why?" He spun on his heel to look at the man.
Silas’s face was sweaty, breathing heavy and rapid.
"I’m not the one holding your lover hostage. Why are you doing this to me?"
Zayne walked back to him and squatted down, eyes tickled with amusement. "Because you are loyal to the bastard holding her. If you’d given me the information I wanted, we wouldn’t be here."
"Silas." He breathed out. "The thing you don’t understand is that when a freak like me loves, I’d kill for her. I would even turn into a monster for her. Hell, I would even become what I’m not for her. And this version of me is just...a piece of what she could turn me into too. You don’t get it. I would die for her. If she asked me to kill myself, I would gladly do it if it’d make her happy. That’s the thing about men like me."
Silas gulped, swallowing thickly. "You are...crazy."
"I agree. I am crazy. I think I’ve even lost my mind. And it’s only going to get worse if you don’t tell me where the hell she is."
Zayne rose to his feet.
"Where is she?" He asked. "Where is Valerio Barcini keeping her?"
