Beyond the Apocalypse-Chapter 1095: Splitting the flesh
Seeing the expressions on the Sovereigns’ faces, the True Depravita of Pride spoke once more.
"If everyone agrees, the Xaos Kingdom will take custody of the blood of the Empyrean Alien. Once the Holy Trinity Bloodline Project is complete and hybrid bloodlines can be safely produced, we will inform you immediately and begin the implantation process. You will only need to gather the required components. We will handle the rest."
The Sovereigns carefully analyzed the terms. After a moment of silent consideration, they all nodded.
With the agreement settled, Overlord extended his power toward the corpse of the Dream of Madness. His energy flooded into the immense body and began extracting its blood, drawing it out with extreme precision before depositing it into a small crystalline flask.
Though the container appeared modest in size, its interior space was vastly expanded. Even so, the quantity of blood being collected was overwhelming. The volume Overlord was extracting from the Empyrean’s corpse was truly gargantuan—enough to fill the oceans of a small world.
The True Depravita of Pride allowed himself a faint smile as he glanced at the flask.
"This will be more than enough to fulfill all our plans."
The thought crossed his mind, but he immediately refocused and continued.
"Now, there is the matter of the flesh and organs. While these are still too corrupted to be used directly for cultivation treasures or potions, they can be forged into artifacts or weapons of immense power. Regarding their division, I believe the fairest method is to distribute them according to the merits each of us earned during the battle against the Dream of Madness."
With a wave of his hand, Overlord conjured a screen that appeared across the ceiling of the chamber. Six names were listed, each accompanied by a number.
Xaos King: 11
White Death: 8
Brightkin: 2
Orkin: 2
Ankil: 2
Merlin: 3
Complicated expressions appeared on several Sovereigns’ faces as they examined the chart, but in the end, they all nodded.
The Xaos King had contributed almost the same as the White Death for most of the battle, but he had delivered the final blow. The difference of only three points could even be seen as conservative on Overlord’s part—an effort to demonstrate objectivity and fairness rather than favoritism.
As for Merlin, his extra point was also justified. The reason the Obsidian Dragon King had suffered such critical injuries was that he had used his own body to shield Brightkin and the others at a decisive moment.
Overlord glanced at each Sovereign. Once he confirmed their agreement, he continued.
"In exchange for our total points, the Xaos Kingdom would like to take seventy-five percent of the corpse."
Deep frowns immediately appeared among the Sovereigns. Seventy-five percent was simply too much. However, before any objections could be voiced, Overlord clarified.
"When I say seventy-five percent, I am referring to mass. It may consist of flesh, muscle, tendons, and similar materials. As long as seventy-five percent of the total mass remains with us, you are free to take the heart, brain, or any other major organs you desire."
At once, the tension in the chamber eased.
As the Sovereigns exchanged glances, they slowly nodded. Torn muscle and connective tissue held little value for them compared to the primary organs. If the Xaos Kingdom was willing to forgo the most powerful and significant parts, then granting them the majority of the mass was an acceptable compromise.
With that matter settled, the Sovereigns began negotiating among themselves, discussing which organs each would claim.
Vlad cast Overlord a meaningful glance as he noticed how easily the Xaos Kingdom had relinquished the most precious components—many of which Jormungandr could have used to create extraordinary weapons. In response, the True Depravita of Pride simply returned a faint, knowing smile.
The Xaos King sighed inwardly but ultimately nodded, choosing to trust Overlord’s plan.
In the end, the White Death secured the brain and heart of the Dream of Madness. Brightkin and Orkin each claimed a lung. Ankil took eighty percent of the liver, while Merlin secured the stomach and the remaining twenty percent.
The Sovereigns carefully extracted the organs and stored them within specialized containment treasures, ensuring each was sealed thoroughly so that their corruptive energy could not leak out and affect their surroundings.
Once they had finished, Overlord waved his hand again.
Countless divine weapons appeared in the air. Under his control, they began methodically peeling away the remaining flesh—muscle, sinew, connective tissue, and every fragment of organic matter—from the corpse of the Dream of Madness.
When the process was complete, only the skeleton remained.
And it was magnificent.
The bones possessed a milky white luster that seemed to glow faintly from within. Despite the catastrophic battle that had taken place, more than ninety percent of the structure showed barely a mark. Its resilience was nothing short of extraordinary.
At this point, complicated expressions once again appeared on the Sovereigns’ faces.
The skeleton was just as valuable as the organs, but there was a fundamental difference between them.
The brain of the Dream of Madness, for example, could be transformed into an artifact simply by engraving high-level runic formations upon it. While such a method would only unleash a fraction of its full potential, it would still result in a formidable weapon.
The skeleton, however, was different.
If they wished to use it, the bones would first need to be transmuted and reshaped, their structure altered so they could adapt to the Sovereigns’ individual bodies, power systems, and combat styles.
Overlord remained silent, allowing the implications to settle.
Eventually, every Sovereign turned toward him.
To properly utilize the skeleton, they would need a master alchemist of the highest level. And there was no greater alchemist in existence than the True Depravita of Gluttony of the Xaos Kingdom.
"The Xaos Kingdom can forge armor and weapons for each of you using these bones," Overlord said calmly. "In exchange, we will retain the remaining material."
Once again, complicated expressions appeared.
After crafting full armor sets and weapons, a significant portion of the skeleton would still remain—far more than the share the Xaos Kingdom would normally be entitled to based solely on merit.
The White Death’s eyes sharpened slightly.
"I assume," he said slowly, "that you will also handle all secondary materials and ensure that the final products are perfectly aligned with our respective powers and combat styles."
Overlord nodded immediately.
"That is correct."
After a moment of consideration, the White Death inclined his head. The other Sovereigns soon followed.
If the Xaos Kingdom would bear the full burden of crafting the equipment—designing it, refining the bones, and acquiring the additional materials necessary to stabilize and enhance the final artifacts—then the exchange was fair.
The matter was settled.
And with it, the remains of an Empyrean were finally, completely claimed.
