Chapter 88: Strange Behavior

Willie’s POV

The strange behavior of Eliza caught my attention as I was unpacking and organizing my belongings in the closet and dresser. I hadn’t seen her in a while. Only returning home for the holidays, she had been away from home for several years. In any case, it seemed as if an eternity had passed. Years passed by as if they were a blip on the radar. The saying goes that time flies by faster as you get older. Remember, we had just celebrated her sixteenth birthday, which had been a big deal at the time.

However, she had grown up and was an independent woman now. A real woman in her late twenties or thirties. She appeared to be one as well. Her typical adolescent attitude and pigtails were long gone. That had all been replaced by long, flowing hair, a stunning smile, and a refined, cultured demeanor.

I figured David would be ecstatic. When I was a child I had a close friendship with David, her father. Former classmates. Eliza’s birth is like yesterday to me. To be honest, I don’t remember much from those times. David was putting his life back together while I was still squandering my time and going out with friends. Later in life, I married and we never had a family.

Having no children after my divorce was a blessing in disguise. I breathed a sigh of relief when I remembered Bea’s proclivity for grabbing anything she could get her hands on. The only thing she would have gained from this is more powerful. She, or at least she thought she, had. My legal team was preparing a defamation lawsuit against her at the time. Even if she was unlucky, she could still receive some alimony. That is, if she had a good run of luck.

They were both right: she was nefarious. I smiled and shook my head as I looked at some family photos on the wall in my bedroom. Eliza was a difficult child from the start. A little bit smarter than she needed to be. As another way of putting it: We are far too intelligent for our own good. There was a lot of potential in that young lady. My reaction to learning that she had been awarded a summa cum honor, was not surprising at all. Just like her father. Following in his footsteps was not a bad thing. No, not at all. Waiting for a flight, I unpacked my luggage and stocked the drawers with my clothing.

They’re on their way back now, David and Mira. No doubt, remodeling my entire house at once was a huge undertaking. Could be too much for one person to deal with. When we were together, it had been made with Bea’s preferences in mind, and now that we were no longer together, it was time for us to say goodbye and hello to the new. My house would finally feel like a place I could call my own. Since then, things have changed.

My fingers were crossed that the contractors wouldn’t take longer than they had estimated. For David and Mira’s sake, I didn’t want to put them under any more stress than they had to begin with. I took a break from my pacing to listen for any sounds coming from the basement, but there weren’t any. While my business suit was comfortable, it wasn’t too casual, so I ditched it and put on some black pants with an unbuttoned polo shirt. I couldn’t walk around their house in sweatpants and a t-shirt because I didn’t feel comfortable.

To see if David and his wife were home yet, or if Eliza and I were still alone, I opened the door and listened. With her in the house, I didn’t feel completely at ease going about my business. Although she’d been behaving in an oddly disconcerting manner since my arrival. No, I wasn’t naive. In spite of the passage of time, I could tell she was still smitten with me. She no longer tried to hide her flirting or sexual suggestiveness in any way, shape, or form. The girl had told me straight out. Not picking up on her cues took all of my willpower. It’s true that she was making ominous suggestions, but I’d have to be dead not to see them.

When she was younger, it was adorable. When she was in her twenties, she fell in love with a man in his forties. Many different scenarios could have been played out in the world. Basically, there’s nothing new under the sun. However, as she got older, it started to feel a little... strange. As she matured into a woman, her flirting became a little more serious and earnest. As I had done before, I had deflected it this time as well. Whatever happened, she was still the daughter of my best friend. Since she was a little girl in braces and pigtails, I’d known her for a long time. Compared to her, I was a much older person.

A part of me didn’t trust myself around her now that she was a beautiful young woman who was sexually interested in me. Even though I had just been divorced and had feelings and desires, I was still a man. And she was flinging herself at me like a curvy, attractive young lady. You know I have fantasized about fucking her over my desk if I don’t say I haven’t. To say I didn’t jump when I imagined those big, beautiful eyes staring down at me and those soft lips encircling my genitals would be a huge lie.

In light of these concerns, I decided it was best for me to keep a safe distance. Something I’d later come to regret doing or not having done. Because of this, my relationship with Dave was going to be affected.

Eliza’s soft footsteps on the floor behind me alerted me to her presence, and I turned around to see David and Mira standing at the foot of the stairs. That one was agile and quick as a kitty. I didn’t see her leave her room because I was distracted by other things.

She explained, her hair fluttering over her shoulder, that "Dad just called." Almost there, he mused. "Should be here shortly."

As a token of my appreciation, I said, "Thank you, Sabrina."

Her lips, which were soft pink and oh-so-plump, made my stomach rumble with anticipation. I didn’t want to be in front of her at all. Her mother had a flawless cupid’s bow pout.

She could have easily followed in the footsteps of her mother and become a model. As a result, she’d gone to college and earned a bachelor’s degree instead. She had previously stated that she wished she had done something more substantial with her life. I think she’s an excellent student.

It only added to her allure that she was curvier than I remembered her being the last time we met. She’d never been a skinny teen, but her body had always been feminine. Now that she had matured, it was even more pronounced and – seductively so. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

In an effort to focus on something else, I swallowed my saliva. I can’t remember the last time I saw her. Isn’t it hard to believe that Christmas was almost a year ago? Nevertheless, I couldn’t help but keep track of the changes I saw in her. And yes, I kicked myself for picturing my best friend’s daughter’s breasts when I saw how much bigger her thighs and bust looked. I couldn’t stop it, though. A man and a beautiful woman were the only two things that mattered to me.

My slacks began to sag as I desperately tried to divert my thoughts away from it and focus on something else. As soon as I realized I was staring, I jerked my gaze away, turned, and walked down the stairwell. I felt stiffer as a result. Of course, Eliza accompanied me. As if she was aware that she was affecting me in such a positive way, she seemed to enjoy it. The fact that I was taking notice of the beautiful woman she’d grown into gave her license to tease and flirt with me.

"How are things going at the office? Did you just open a branch in France?" his father inquired. Her voice was soft and conversational.

A few hotels have opened across the country; they’re mostly in Paris right now but we’re looking into other cities as well.

When she heard the news, she exclaimed, "Wow. Have you considered expanding into Asian markets? They are, according to my understanding, very easy to work with and even provide incentives for Western companies to set up shop there."

"This is something we’re considering," I said. "However, we’re cautious about rapidly expanding. Slowly and methodically, we’d like to proceed."

As if she understood, she nodded her head. "That’s probably a good idea," she responded.

Having an adult conversation with her made me realize she was no longer a child, which surprised me. She was a lady, to say the least. She’s a very bright woman, to put it mildly.

She expressed a desire to return to Paris sooner rather than later. "I haven’t been in a long time," I don’t think I could have appreciated it as a child, but now that I’m an adult, I’m eager to see it again. "Don’t you think I should really immerse myself in the culture and soak it all up?’ "

At this point, we had walked all the way down the stairs and were waiting in the foyer for her parents to arrive. Once again, I was relieved. Standing next to their daughter with a raging hard on would have embarrassed David and Mira to no end. So, I searched my pants for anything to hide the bulge. Out of the corner of my eye, Eliza had a smirk on her face as she looked at me. She was paying attention. She thought, "Goddammit."

Hopefully, her parents didn’t know either. In the future, Eliza would know that she had given me a hard time. One can only hope that this is a forgotten topic that will be left to rest in peace.

In the midst of an argument with his wife about whether or not they needed a new painting in the dining room.

"If we had the painting, you’d want to remodel again."

"What’s wrong with that?" inquired the man. That made Mira very angry. "Aren’t you of the opinion that it’s about time we did something different? Rearranging and remodeling your home on a periodic basis, according to what I read, can keep you from becoming bored and even prevent Alzheimer’s."

David rolled his eyes and sighed. When I heard him say it, I almost fell to the floor in agony.

My presence attracted the attention of everyone in the room, and Mira exuded joy at my arrival. There was nothing fake about her smile; it was huge and sincere.

A beaming smile spread across her face. "Do you think Willie thinks it’s too early to redecorate the dining room?"

"So, what’s been going on? Has it really been that long?" I asked. I inquired about it.

Her response was, "Thirty-three."

I shifted my attention from David to Mira.

She said, "You’re remodeling your entire house," so get a move on. Inquiringly, I ask, "Are you on my side?"

"I’m neutral here, Mira," I quipped, rubbing my chin. Instead, your redecorating plans." I don’t see why I should meddle in your relationship."

She winked and said, "If you agree with me, it’s not meddling."

Mira’s daughter, reminded me of her mother once again, albeit twenty years younger. When Mira was younger, she worked as a fashion model. When it came to Milan and other European fashion capitals, she was a constant presence on the catwalks. Soon after, she decided to stop modeling and focus on her other artistic passions. Her most recent interest appears to be in interior design and renovation.

With her hair pulled back into a high, tight bun on her head, Mira sported a flawless pout and a bright red lipstick. Her daughter has the same pout as her mother.

I was thinking about Eliza yet again.

David and Mira walked away from me in the foyer, leaving only Eliza and me there. They were still talking about painting and redecorating the dining room. With a smirk and a shake of her head, Eliza greeted me. Her low-cut dress drew my attention away from her beautiful eyes and straight to her bare breasts.

"It’s those two," she said, laughing.

"Huh?" I was totally engrossed in what I was seeing and completely forgot about everything else, as I said.

As Eliza pointed to the family’s refuge in the living room, she smiled. I mentally slapped myself. I have no right to be thinking about Eliza in such a negative light. Not in David and Mira’s presence, at any rate. It has never happened to me before. A halt had to be put in place for the sake of everyone. In order for me to focus on anything other than Eliza’s transformation, I needed a distraction. Not only was it ill-advised, but also incorrect. It’s incorrect on so many levels and in so many ways.

As I scratched my head and tried to avoid looking at Eliza, I said, "Oh yeah. In our opinion, your father will finally give in. When it comes to your mother, he’ll never be able to say no. It is my belief that she does so because of this."

She laughed and winked at me, saying, "Oh, of course."

She followed her parents and swayed her hips excessively as she walked after that remark. However, I couldn’t deny that it was a stunning sight. She put on a show for me because she was aware that I was watching her.

Despite my best efforts, it was clear that I was doomed from the start.
