Chapter 104: Dangerous go-ahead

"I am not with the doctor, he is just one of my toys and I could replace him whenever I want," Haruki replied pausing a bit.

"That’s your thought but his is different," Ren said confidently as he met Haruki’s gaze.

Haruki who was about to continue his exit paused once again his gaze on his mentor intensifying. He wondered what the man meant by those words and asked, "What do you mean by that?"

"I meant what I said. You think he is one of your toys but he wants to be a lover, he wants to be more than just a sex partner or he would never have gotten with you in the first place."

Haruki’s gaze turned cold at the man’s words and he could feel a bit of rage rising up for reasons he could not explain and there was something else, a feeling of . . . was it pride?

Ren bowed showing he sign that he was done and about to leave even as Haruki’s gaze turned colder.

"Don’t you think you should explain further?"

Ren raised his head but this time, he avoided Haruki’s gaze and sighed. "I did a bit of background check on him."

That was something they had done for the doctor’s mother even before his father thought he could be with her so it was not news that they did a background check and even monitored the entire Yamamoto family members.

Haruki raised an eyebrow as he waited for the man’s further explanation.

His mentor sighed once again and continued, "I found out that he has never been in any relationship casual or serious and I believe from what I found that he was a virgin by the time he began working as your doctor."

"What does that have to do with your assumption?" Haruki asked feeling a bit impatient. It was as though he wanted to find more information to solidify the new knowledge that the doctor was in love with him which was both pleasant and unpleasant.

"His friends also thought he was asexual and some even rumoured that he was impotent because he neither had a physical relationship with anyone nor ever truly got close to any woman. I also found out that it was not as though he was good at keeping secrets, he did not like anyone. For him to have agreed to be with you, I believe there are some feelings involved and he has been active in pursuing you."

Haruki sighed and shook his head. "So you have no evidence to back that up, right?" he asked disappointedly. He had expected his mentor to come with useful information but the man had brought a series of useless data some of which he was already aware of.

"The first person who did all that committed suicide over his feelings for you. It would be a lot easier for you to replace your lover than for you to replace the entire Yamamoto family and what we helped them build."

Haruki finally understood his worries. If Hiroshi’s feelings for him grew stronger and he had to break up with him when the six-month period was over, then it would be bad on their part if the doctor lost his life over his feelings like Shinya did.

Hiroshi was the chosen one to continue his father’s service to their family and if he lost his mind in love with Haruki, they would lose a valuable asset.

Haruki however did not believe any of that sort could cause them much problem as there were many ways to replace the Yamamoto family if need be although it would take them a while to build trust as strong as the one they have with Doctor Yamamoto and his family.

"If he dies, we’ll just replace Yamamoto with the deputy director and have him manage things for us. Besides, I don’t think Hiroshi is like Shinya. Shinya was not emotionally stable and I am sure you can see for yourself that the doctor is very emotionally strong."

Ren seeing he had not succeeded in persuading Haruki could only frown as he raised his head to finally meet Haruki’s gaze.

Haruki could see from his body language that Ren was very displeased with his relationship with the doctor and considering that this was the first time Ren got this worried, he did not blame him and tried to show that he understood his worries.

"If you’re that worried, you can begin training a new doctor to take over if anything goes wrong."

Even after he said that the frown on Ren’s face did not relax even a bit, instead, the worry in his eyes only intensified. When Haruki did not seem to understand why he even worried, he said, "What if the doctor’s sincerity gets to you and makes you change your mind later on?"

Haruki found those words pretty insulting to him. As someone who had known him the longest, Ren had said such words and it felt like his mentor thought he had very poor mental resolve. With a scoff, he turned to leave leaving these words, "Then you kill him so I don’t have any other choice."

Haruki was already gone before the words Haruki said finally sank in. Haruki’s words carried more weight than the way he had just said it casually.

If the doctor makes Haruki fall for him with the obvious efforts he was putting in, one that seemed to overthrow any of Haruki’s past lovers including Shinya, then Haruki has given him the go-ahead to end the doctor’s life.

As he looked at Haruki’s departing back straight and dignified, he wondered if his mentee knew the gravity of the words he had just said casually.

He concluded Haruki had no feelings for the man and considered him disposable, with that, he could finally relax knowing nothing would go out of Haruki’s control.

Haruki had just said those words and as soon as he got to his room, he replayed the words he had said and although it left with a bitter after taste, he made up his mind that he could not fall for the doctor meaning he had no need to worry about Yamamoto losing one of his sons.

He glanced at the digital clock on the nightstand He could not hold back a sigh. He had not intended to sleep so early considering he had so much energy to lose but he had no way to lose it considering he had lost the opportunity to spar and the doctor was not even around.

His phone vibrated and hoping it was something good that would get him busy, he picked up the phone. The doctor’s name shone on the lit screen of his phone making his lips curve upward unconsciously.

He picked up the call after a few seconds and the man’s rich deep voice came from the other end, "Hello, are you about to go to bed?"

"Yes, why do you call?" Haruki asked as his smile only got broader, There was something both exciting and relaxing about hearing the man’s voice. It was almost too pleasant.
