[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 49: An Annoying Woman
Chop chop chop
Julian was cutting up the white tofu he had bought that afternoon. Afterwards, he put the tofu in a pot and glanced at the wall clock.
"When will Arcane be home? I hope he’s okay. But for some reason, I feel like something might happen. It’s strange..." he muttered at that moment.
He looked out the kitchen window, hoping nothing had happened to his husband.
Meanwhile, Arcane was in the dining room at the Stamford residence. He had just finished teaching Donald’s son, his own biological father. He was invited to have dinner with him and his two children.
Everything was going well, they were chatting with each other about various things.
Suddenly, the lady of the house arrived home, looking unhappy to find that her family had eaten without waiting for her to return.
"You ate before I got home? That’s great. It’s as if you forgot I exist. Especially this guest, who even enjoyed the meal before the lady of the house arrived," said the woman, who was Donald’s wife, Alina.
A middle aged woman who still looked beautiful and fashionable. Her blonde hair and pink eyes were very similar to Sofia’s.
"We didn’t know you would be home so early. You usually come home late at night or even in the morning, which is why you eat dinner first. Besides, you never tell us when you’re coming home," Donald replied calmly.
"Oh, so because of that, you can start dinner without me? Sometimes I wonder if you still appreciate my presence in this house," Alina sounded unhappy with her husband’s words.
Seeing her mother come home, Sofia stood up from where she was sitting and ran towards her mother. She stretched out her arms, intending to hug her.
"Mom, you finally home!"
However, Alina took a step back as if she didn’t want to be touched by her own daughter. This made Sofia a little disappointed and she stopped right in front of her.
"Mom, why? You haven’t been home for three days, and now you don’t want to hug me?" she asked with a sad expression on her face.
Instead of feeling pity or sadness at her daughter’s words, Alina folded her arms across her chest and stared at the little girl as if she were a stranger.
"I was only gone for three days, not a month. There’s no need to overreact and want to hug me like that. You always overreact," said Alina in a tone that sounded arrogant.
Even Arcane could see the woman rolling her eyes just because Sofia wanted to hug her. Sofia, who was still so young, felt sad because she felt her mother no longer loved her.
At that moment, Donald immediately stood up and pulled Sofia into his arms.
"Can’t you control yourself a little in front of our guests? Even Sofia only asked to hug you. Don’t you have any compassion for your own daughter?!"
He spoke in a slightly raised voice, making Arcane feel that this was the first time he had heard the principal sound angry. Because usually he always spoke in a soft and calm voice.
"Just because she’s my daughter doesn’t mean I’m going to spoil her like you do. Besides, who is that man? You didn’t tell me that we would have guests, even begging for food in this house."
’Begging for food? What does that mean?’ Arcane thought irritably.
Stefano replied that the man with them was his new private tutor. Since he was going to enter a prestigious high school that was quite difficult to get into, he needed a tutor to help him.
Hearing this, Alina looked dissatisfied because she felt that Stefano didn’t need a tutor just to get into a prestigious school.
"Why are you wasting money just to get into a school like that? Especially hiring a tutor who seems to be an amateur?"
Arcane admitted that he was still young and had not been teaching for long. But that did not mean he was an amateur, because he was already able to help students who struggled with mathematics understand the subject easily.
"Watch your mouth, Alina! You are talking to one of the teachers who works at my school. Everyone who works there is highly qualified and not amateurs like you said." Donald stepped forward again to defend Arcane.
The middle aged man asked his children to go to their room because he didn’t want them to see the commotion. Stefano then carried his younger sister away from the dining room so that Sofia wouldn’t feel sad anymore.
He also asked Alina to go to their room and discuss this matter away from Arcane. Alina just snorted in annoyance and walked away, her footsteps deliberately stomping on the floor.
"That woman really make me dizzy." He sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. Remembering that Arcane was still there, he turned to him.
"Mr. Romano, I think it’s better if you just go home. I don’t mean to kick you out, but things aren’t going well right now, and I’m sorry you had to witness this."
"It’s okay. Sometimes unexpected things happen. Thank you for inviting me to dinner, and I’ll come back the day after tomorrow to teach Stefano," replied Arcane, who then picked up his bag and left the Stamford residence.
Donald’s green eyes kept watching Arcane leave his house, as if he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
He remembered his past, about a beautiful and sweet teenage girl he once knew.
Flashback
At that time, young Donald was still teaching physics at a girls’ school. He got to know one of his students who always got bad grades in his class.
Their relationship was going very well, until one day he promised the student movie tickets if she got better grades on her next exam.
"I’ll take you to see your favorite movie that’s coming out next week. As long as you can get better grades than before," he said.
"I can! I can definitely do it! I will study harder and get an A on that exam!" she replied enthusiastically.
Her enthusiastic expression melted his heart, and he nodded his head. He rubbed the student’s head with a smile.
"Well then, good luck."
Flashback End
"They are so similar. But..."
He wasn’t sure if they were related or not. But for now, he put that aside and went to deal with his wife’s anger.
On the way home, Arcane realized that his father had married a woman who seemed spoiled and unhappy with her own family.
He began to speculate that perhaps the marriage had not been based on love for Alina, but rather on coercion. But that was just speculation that he couldn’t prove.
"Just seeing that woman makes me very upset. I wonder why they are still continuing the marriage to this day."
He stopped walking, staring at the dark sky with the bright moonlight shining down. He wondered if his mother were still alive, would she be sad to see the man she loved now with someone else.
But he was sure his mother would have known that Donald would eventually marry someone else.
"What else do you think I should do, Mom?"
