Chapter 80: Does He Really Care?

Julian was startled when he heard someone ring the doorbell of his house. He walked to the door to see who had come to his residence and Arcane.

As soon as he opened the door, he was somewhat surprised to see someone standing at the door. A middle aged man with brown hair and green eyes, just like his husband.

"Oh, it’s you, Mr. Stamford. What brings you here?" asked Julian.

"I heard that Mr. Romano was sick, so I came to visit. I... brought him some mushroom cream soup," replied Donald, showing the bag of food he was carrying.

Julian was touched to know that someone cared about Arcane, especially since it was the man’s own father. Although Julian didn’t understand why Donald would go to such lengths for someone he probably considered just a teacher who worked for him.

Since Donald had come to bring soup for Arcane, he invited him to come in and sit for a while. Donald sat in the living room with Julian. The man looked around the living room, seeing that it was now decorated with photos of Julian and Arcane together.

"Sorry to interrupt your afternoon. I’m sure you must be busy taking care of him," he said.

"Not at all! I’m actually happy that someone cares about him enough to bring him soup so he can get well soon."

He then asked about Arcane’s condition, and Julian explained that his fever had not yet subsided. This made him feel very worried, and he thought about taking Arcane to the hospital if his fever was still the same by tomorrow morning.

Hearing this, Donald also felt worried. The fever could be due to more than just exhaustion. It could be an infection.

"That’s even more dangerous if it’s not treated immediately. I can take you to the hospital in my car

if you want," said the principal, offering his help.

Julian hesitated about this. After all, Arcane didn’t want to go to the hospital, claiming that his illness was just a common fever. So he refused the offer, saying he would wait and see how things developed first.

Donald understood this. So he didn’t insist on taking him. But he would still be there if Julian needed his help later.

"Of course, thank you for helping us. Even though you don’t understand why you are so kind to us," said Julian with a smile.

"It’s because he has helped my children learn mathematics. He teaches very patiently at school and also at my house. I just want to repay his kindness," he replied.

Julian nodded in understanding when he heard this. He knew that Arcane was indeed a cold person, but he had a caring and sincere nature behind it. Especially when it came to his students, he would do anything for their future.

That was also what made him admire his husband. Even today, he had forced himself to go to work even though he was sick.

’Even though it’s very annoying, he’s never too selfish for himself. No wonder many people admire him, even making Ryan jealous of him.’ Julian thought as he remembered his husband.

In the middle of his conversation with Donald, the man admitted that Arcane actually reminded him of someone he used to know. He felt like he had something in common with him. Although Donald himself didn’t know what made him feel like he had a connection with Arcane.

"But this past week, I’ve been feeling more and more drawn to him. It’s not anything romantic, so I hope you don’t misunderstand what I’m saying," Donald said, somewhat embarrassed.

In Julian’s mind, he wasn’t thinking about romance or special feelings between men. But maybe this was a connection between father and son. Could it be that after they had met frequently at school for over a year, plus Arcane was also close to his family?

Did this make Donald feel a blood connection between the two of them?

’Could it be... He’s starting to realize the connection between them? He can feel that Arcane is his son, but he can’t prove it!’ he thought at that moment.

This made Julian really want to tell the man the truth, but he didn’t want to speak without Arcane’s permission because this was something that concerned him. He realized this wasn’t the place to talk about Arcane and Donald’s relationship.

Especially since his husband had decided to leave the school without saying anything to Donald. He was worried that if he revealed the secret, Donald would treat him differently.

’But it’s so close! He could realize that Arcane is his son! He can feel it. It’s just one step away!’

There was a moment of silence between them, making Donald think about going home before it got dark.

"If you need me, you can call me at this number." He gave Julian his business card so he could contact him.

"Okay, thank you once again for coming to see him. I’m sorry I didn’t invite you to see him. He’s asleep," replied Julian.

He shook his head. "It’s okay. Let him rest so he can get well soon. Besides, i come here just wanted to bring him some soup so he would get better."

After saying that, he walked towards the door to leave. At that moment, Julian felt he couldn’t let him go. He could see in his eyes that Donald was genuinely worried about Arcane.

In the end, Julian decided to give him a little hint about Arcane that Donald might realize on his own without him having to tell him directly.

"Mr. Stamford!" he called out, making him turn around immediately.

"You said he reminds you of someone? Is he the same person you told me about back then? A girl you often met under the tree in the school garden," Julian asked.

Donald was silent for a moment before finally opening his mouth again and admitting that they were the same person. The girl he could never forget in his life was the same girl who came to mind when he saw Arcane.

"She’s a very beautiful girl. It feels embarrassing to say this, especially after I have a wife," he replied, feeling ashamed of himself.

"Is that woman... red haired with yellow eyes?"

His eyes widened in surprise when Julian guessed the characteristics of the girl Donald was describing. And his guess was correct. They were both thinking of the same woman.

"Is she... Wilona? Wilona Armano?"
