[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 102: Ch : Liam, Get Married - Part 1
’Great. Was one brat not enough to take Shuu’s attention away from me? And now we have another one here?’
Emperor Kaiden sighed as he looked at the kids in front of him. Caelis met his own gaze, but Rin immediately looked away from him.
Despite his need to get Shuu pregnant again, he actually did not want more kids who could take Shuu’s attention away from him. He liked having his companion all to himself.
So, he suggested another alternative.
"How about we let Yunn and his wife care for Rin? Won’t that be better-"
"But I have decided that I want to raise him. Are you going to tell me no?"
Kaiden froze and then sighed. He did not want to deny Shuu, especially since this was the first time he had asked for something.
But at the same time...
"Should we not ask the kids? After all, Caelis might not want a brother."
Kaiden turned the conversation toward the kids, and it was Shuu’s turn to frown.
"I am sure Caelis would love a brother-"
"I don’t want Rin as my brother. You cannot adopt him. Uncle Yunn can also not adopt him. He is my friend."
Caelis pointed out harshly as he held Rin.
Usually, Shuu would have thought that he was just joking around. But that did not seem to be the case this time. Caelis seemed serious about not wanting his relatives to adopt Rin.
Emperor Kaiden, on the other hand, suddenly felt proud of his son.
’Well done, Caelis. For the first time, we both seem to be on the same track.’
The father-son duo had a little...strained relationship with each other. In simpler terms, they tolerated each other because Shuu wanted them to get along. If Shuu was not there, the pair had nothing to do with each other...except fighting.
But this time, Kaiden gave his son a look of approval, which caused Caelis to turn his head away immediately.
They might have a rift between each other, but at least they were on the same side...right?
__________
Shuu felt a small headache threatening to take him over as he considered the situation.
Usually, he would have disregarded the tantrum Caelis was throwing and adopted Rin anyway, but something inside him told him to follow Caelis’s words.
It was the expression his one-year-old son wore. It stirred some memories in Shuu’s mind and made him want to follow Caelis’s words.
Still, he had been in the imperial palace and high society long enough to know that Rin would be torn apart if he did not have a formal new identity. (Not that he participated much, but he did hear things from Princess Danielle.)
"Alright, I get it. So, what should we do with Rin now? I will still raise him, but I don’t want him to hear other people’s gossip. Especially about himself."
Emperor Kaiden finally relented and provided Shuu with a solution.
"I will see if any of my retainers are willing to adopt the kid. Since most of them live in the palace, it would be fine to use them as an excuse."
Even though Kaiden said that, there was no ’willingness’ that needed to be tested. He was going to choose someone, and they would be stuck with this new responsibility of theirs...not that Shuu needed to know about this.
One look at Shuu’s impassive face told Emperor Kaiden that Shuu likely already knew about all this.
"Alright. For now, I will keep Rin with me. Tell me when the details are ironed out."
Shuu told him, and Emperor Kaiden tightened his arms around Shuu for a little while before he left to attend to his official duties.
__________
All around the imperial palace, the attendants had a sudden urge to disappear, and they avoided going into Emperor Kaiden’s office.
But the work needed to be done, and someone had to be brave and give him the papers.
In the end, Liam decided that there was no time to sit around and sulk. So he grabbed the handle and pushed it open.
"Tsk, what are you all waiting around for? Here, give me those papers. I will take care of them for you."
He grabbed the papers that needed to be stamped and forced the door open.
Emperor Kaiden’s eyes immediately fell on him, and he felt a shiver go down his spine. Despite his discomfort, he decided to keep moving forward without a care in the world.
"Emperor, I have brought you your papers...is something wrong?"
He asked as he suddenly felt predatory eyes looking at him. It made him feel nervous, and he almost wanted to take a step back.
But he held himself in place and took a step forward. He entered the office and waited around for Emperor Kaiden to speak up.
"Liam...are you married?"
Emperor Kaiden’s voice was soft, and just hearing it made Liam feel like he had to reply to it.
He shivered and decided to answer Emperor Kaiden immediately.
"I...am not married. I thought you knew this already."
Liam had a sudden bad feeling when he looked at the smiling face of the emperor in front of him. He knew that he was in for a bad time...but even if he knew, there was nothing he could do about it.
"Hmm, since you are not married, get married within a week. Even if you cannot get married, get ready to adopt a kid."
"Excuse me...but what-?"
Liam doubted his ears at first. He was not sure if he was hallucinating or not, but the crown prince had suddenly asked him to get married and get ready to adopt a kid?
But he was too young. He was only 37 and had yet to even hold someone’s hand in a romantic way. How could he suddenly find a marriage partner?
And adopt a kid? Someone like him? Did he look stable enough to adopt a kid?
"It looks like you are too happy to even say anything. Good. So I will start preparing papers for you now."
