[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 159: Ch : Enemies on all sides - Part 2
"I do not need your help. Please leave these parts and me alone."
Shuu calmly told the unknown man before he pushed himself back up. He looked straight at the new face in front of him, but the man kept smiling at Shuu.
Not only was the man unphased by Shuu’s annoyance, but he also had the audacity to try and reach for Shuu’s hand and grab it lightly.
"Please don’t be like that, my lord. Accidents happen all the time. Your health should be your top priority. Here, let me help you out."
The man tried to reach for Shuu and even touched his back almost suggestively before Shuu’s glare made him pull back.
It was beginning to get uncomfortable, and Shuu had entertained this person for a lot longer than he expected. Now it was time for him to set things straight.
"I am sorry, but I would have to ask you to leave. This is not a place you should be in. If you don’t leave now, then I will have to call the guards."
The unknown man quickly stood up and held his hands up in the air.
"Please don’t be like that, Companion Shuu. I just wanted to help you out and nothing else. Actually, I have wanted to become friends with you ever since I first saw you. Won’t you give me a chance?"
The man asked and extended his hand toward Shuu. He looked sincere, and his body language was calm as well.
But Shuu was not someone who could be fooled easily. At least, not by such foolish methods.
The man had impeccable body language that was impossible to pick apart, but his eyes betrayed his true nature.
For this noble, Shuu and his friendship was nothing more than a pastime. Perhaps he had approached Shuu for a specific reason as well, and that was why he wanted to offer Shuu his friendship...
Whatever the case was, Shuu was not going to get used to it. So he stood up and ignored that offered hand.
He turned around and, without giving an answer, he disappeared down the hallway. His headache was gone, but at what cost?
Of course, the rumors regarding this spread even before he reached the breakfast table. He could hear the guards talking about how the ’stubborn companion’ ignored Young Lord Inferno’s offer of friendship.
Shuu was just happy that the kids were not here at the moment to hear all this. He did not want them to hear much of the gossip around the imperial castle. They needed to grow up safe and sound.
But the staff was not the only one with a sharp and loose tongue. Lady Canarie existed as well.
And unlike the staff, she did not bother keeping her curiosity in check.
"Companion Shuu, I heard something very interesting today. Apparently, people saw you have a romantic getaway with Young Lord Inferno. Is there anything you want to tell us about?"
Lady Canarie made it sound like a question, but her intentions of smearing blame on Shuu were quite clear.
Anyone else would have gotten angry at that moment and even flipped a table or two. But Shuu simply drank his tea and did not reply.
His lack of an answer bothered Lady Canarie enough for her to speak up once more.
"Oh my-! Are you so shy that you cannot even answer? No wonder you did not want to get married to Emperor Kaiden. You already had someone in your heart. If so, then we should quickly-"
"Lady Canarie, has anyone ever told you that you talk too much? Also, believing everything you hear is a bad habit. Who knows what kind of mistake you might make living like that."
In the end, Shuu was not able to take it anymore and ended up snapping back at Lady Canarie.
His words caused Lady Canarie’s smile to freeze on her face, and she gave Shuu an almost glare before she caught herself. Once she realized what kind of expression she was making, Lady Canarie turned her face into an uneasy smile.
"Oh please-! You are the one who made a mistake, so why are you trying to take it out on me? Danielle, you should say something as well."
Lady Canarie turned to look at Princess Danielle to drag her into this mess, and Shuu looked at her as well.
It had been a few days since he had last seen the princess, but she looked and felt so distant to him now. It felt like there was a barrier between him and the princess.
Princess Danielle turned to look at Shuu with a sorry expression on her face. But in the end, she took her cousin’s side.
"Shuu, I do think it would be for the best to keep your distance from certain individuals and maintain your dignity as a member of the royal family. I do not doubt your loyalty to Emperor Kaiden, but the others might not feel the same way."
Those were simple words, and yet Shuu felt like his world was falling apart as soon as he heard them.
He wanted to tell Danielle that things were not like that. But every time he opened his mouth, he quickly closed it without saying anything.
From the looks he was getting to the way people were behaving, everything told him just one thing-he was not needed.
It was not a new realization to have, but after everything that had happened, it did somehow hurt.
The tense air finally parted away when Prince Yunn came and sat down beside Princess Danielle. He looked around the table, spotted the sour mood, and decided to do something about it.
"Hey, what’s with this long face? Did something happen? You can tell me about it since my brother is not here. I am sure he would want me to take care of you in his stead."
Prince Yunn’s expression turned to one filled with concern when he looked at Shuu. Shuu had never thought that Prince Yunn looked like Kaiden, but at that moment, the resemblance was hard to ignore.
