The embrace did not last long. But it was long enough for Shuu to feel better and push Kaiden away...Or, that was what he tried to do. But every time he pushed Kaiden away, the emperor grabbed him even harder and made it impossible for Shuu to pull away.

Finally, Shuu noticed that the Emperor had no intention of letting him go, so he sighed and gave in.

They remained like this for a while until Emperor Kaiden pulled back and looked around the place they were currently in.

His expression told Shuu that he was not happy, and his voice just confirmed what Shuu already knew.

"This place...had the goddess’s influence lingering all over it. Tsk, I don’t like this feeling at all."

Emperor Kaiden made an annoyed face and started to drag Shuu out of the temple. Shuu followed after him for a few seconds before he felt something calling for him to come back.

His eyes turned to look back, and Shuu even stopped walking as soon as the nostalgia hit him hard. He almost took a step inside when Emperor Kaiden wrapped his arms around Shuu’s middle and pulled him back.

"Where do you think you are going? Did I give you permission to head back?"

Emperor Kaiden’s voice was threatening, and Shuu felt a shiver go down his spine at the barely concealed threat in it. It also distracted him long enough for the Emperor to pull him out of the temple.

Shuu’s breathing eased as soon as he was out of the temple’s influence. He let out a sigh of relief at that and looked back at the small but intimidating place.

"Tsk, I don’t like the goddess. Every day, she gives me more and more reason to outlaw her. Maybe I should really do that and not think about the consequences..."

Kaiden grumbled under his breath, and Shuu immediately reached out to hold his hand and provide him some comfort.

It helped, and Kaiden stopped complaining. But the heat in his eyes did not ease up.

Just looking at it made Shuu feel like he was making a mistake. So he quickly looked away, not wanting to spend any more time thinking about all this.

Arms wrapped themselves around Shuu’s neck, and he shivered as soon as he felt a familiar touch rubbing his mark.

"I feel so annoyed by all this. How dare the goddess try to make a move on what is mine? Does she have no shame?"

Emperor Kaiden whined, but it was more of a threat than anything else. There was no mistaking the hint of anger and danger in the air.

Shuu knew he should be scared. But honestly, all he could feel at the moment was a sense of peace and calmness.

"Kaiden, let’s head home now. I am sure the kids are waiting for us to return as well."

Shuu reminded the emperor, but Kaiden immediately let out a groan.

"Ugh, do we have to do that? The kids can stay with their maids for a little longer. For now, I want to enjoy my time with you. Just the two of us. What do you say?"

Emperor Kaiden asked in a pitifully whiny voice. His eyes looked innocently at Shuu, and he felt bad for the Emperor.

Even Shuu wanted to spend some private time with Kaiden. It felt like it had been too long.

So Shuu did not stop the hand sneaking toward his face, and he allowed Emperor Kaiden to press his lips against Shuu’s own.

It was a short and sweet kiss...at first. But the way Emperor Kaiden was pressing against Shuu, nothing felt short and sweet anymore.

Shuu broke the kiss and immediately felt aware of his surroundings.

"Kaiden, what are you doing outside? Shouldn’t we head back inside to have some fun?"

Shuu hissed at his partner as he grabbed Emperor Kaiden’s hair and pulled his head back. But the emperor just let out a startled laugh before going against the hold on his hair and leaning closer to Shuu.

The grip on Kaiden’s scalp must be hurting him...and yet, he decided that being near Shuu was more important.

"Well, I don’t mind doing it out here. In fact, I don’t think I have much patience to make it all the way home. But don’t worry. I have asked Nero to keep everyone out. He will make sure we are not disturbed by anyone. You can be as loud as you want to be."

Emperor Kaiden assured Shuu with a small laugh. He seemed to be having fun, and if so, then he was the only one who was having fun. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Shuu gave Kaiden a blank stare, but the emperor seemed like he was not in the mood to listen to him at the moment.

The second Shuu saw that stubborn expression, he knew that saying anything now would be useless. When Emperor Kaiden was in such a mood, then there was no point in trying to stop him.

All Shuu could do was try and make a deal with him that would make his situation much less humiliating.

It had nothing to do with the fact that a part of Shuu found this situation to his liking and wanted to jump the emperor here and now.

"I was close...so close. Just a little more and...ugh..."

Goddess Astoria’s yell warned her attendants to stay clear of her for the moment. She was not in a good mood, and it showed in the way she expressed herself.

Her attendants looked at each other and wondered what to do next. In the end, they all decided to leave her alone and allow her to let her anger out.

That turned out to be a mistake because not even 10 minutes passed before an overwhelming presence knocked the attendants out.

Goddess Astoria, who was busy showing her anger, stopped all of a sudden as well, and she gave the intruder a glare for daring to come and disturb her.

"What do you want from me? Can’t you see that I am busy, Loki?"
