’Things seem tense right now. Should I say something...? No, I should keep out of trouble for now.’

Shuu decided to not say anything as Duke Inferno and Princess Danielle had their spat. Nero seemed to be in agreement as well since he did not join their spat and instead, focused on service to Shuu.

As the tensions rose, Lady Canarie’s irritation and insecurities rose as well. Finally, she decided she could not take it anymore and she ended uo exploding at the last person she should.

"Companion Shuu, can I be frank with you? Whatever I am about to say to you is not an insult but a caution."

Everyone felt quite at Lady Canarie’s declaration and even Shuu turned his attention toward her with a curious look.

"Yeah sure...?"

Lady Canarie took a deep breath before her eyes hardened and she finally spoke.

"Companion Shuu, would you please give up on Emperor Kaiden already? The goddess has already declared him my match and you are becoming a problem. You might not realize it, but it is a hassle for us all. You are preventing the emperor from realizing his destiny."

That outburst seemed to have been building up for some time now. Lady Canarie’s eyes were filled with accusation and her tense posture informed everyone about her stand.

"Lady Canarie, why don’t you eat something and calm down? Being hungry is impacting your jusdgement-"

"Forget being hungry. I don’t care abou food anymore. I just want this imposter gone from the imperial castle and out of Emperor Kaiden’s life. Don’t confuse him anymore than you already have or I-"

Lady Canarie had moved in front of Shuu within seconds and her hand had already reached forward to grab Shuu.

He almost felt alarmed, but Nero quickly grabbed Lady Canarie’s hand befire it could harm Shuu.

"Let go of me-! I said...LET ME GO..."

Everyone watched in muted horror as Lady Canarie tried to break Nero’s hold on her wrist, only to fail again and again. She was thrashing around, wanting to be free. But Nero won’t let her go.

Finally, she was exhausted and collapsed.

Her tear-filled eyes looked at Nero and they were filled with accusation.

"Why...? Why won’t you let me get rid of that imposter? Everything inside me tells me that I need to get rid of him if I want to regain my position? Can’t you tell as well that his existence beside Emperor Kaiden is wrong?"

Canarie asked in a low voice as she collapsed where she was standing.

Blank eyes looked down at her and only after it was certain that lady Canarie won’t do anything foolish was she let go of.

"Lady, do you feel like everything inside you wants Emperor Kaiden and you want to monopolize him? Do you really believe that you are in love with him and made for him?"

Nero asked the person who had collapsed in front of him and Lady Canarie immediately replied to him.

"Of course. Can’t you tell as well? We are made for each other. Everything I am...everything I have, it’s all for Emperor Kaiden...we are bonded..."

Lady Canarie’s voice was getting more and more enthusiastic by the second. She was utterly convinced by her feelings and emotions.

And that was when Nero decided to strike.

"Hmm, but as for Kaiden’s family, I don’t feel that ’bond’ you speak of. The only bond I feel from him is with Shuu. It seems like both you and that other girl got tricked by the goddess."

Dread filled Lady Canarie’s eyes immediately at that declaration. She suddenly looked mentally unstable after hearing the truth.

"T-That is not true...that could not have happened. There is no way-! Stop lying-!"

Lady Canarie somehow had a sudden burst of energy and she went after Nero. but she changed directions at the last second and went after Shuu insetaed.

Her hands warped themselves around his neck and she threatened to squeeze it. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Take that back. Take those words back right this second..."

Lady Canarie had lost her reason and no one moved for a whole minute before Nero reacted and broke her wirst.

"Are you crazy lady? What do you think you are doing? This is not-"

"Ughhh. I don’t care anymore. I have tried so hard to gain his approval, but I cannot. What does that cursed person have that I don’t? I am braeutiful, have a good leinage and I am also Goddess’s chosen one. So why not me-? Why this social reject that needs to repent by the goddess’s side-?"

Lady Canarie was getting more and more unstable. Everyone was alarmed and Shuu could even feel something rising inside her.

’It’s getting dangerous. I need to tell people to get away-’

Before he could open his mouth, something grabbed his face. He looked at Lady Canarie’s semi-familiar eyes but something seemed to have changed in her.

"It’s all your fault. Why are you even here? Why are you still cursing everything, everywhere you go? Can’t you just leave us all alone? The world would be a much better place if a cursed one like you did not exist...let go of me...I SAID LET GO-"

Lady Canarie was clutching at Shuu one second and the next she was thrown away by Nero.

He also stood in front of Shuu to protect him but he kept his eyes on Lady Canarie.

Princess Danielle and Duke Inferno reacted a little later and grabbed Canarie as well to pull her back.

"Canarie, calm down. What is wrong with you-?"

"What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with you all? Are you going to allow someone ’cursed’ like him to stay by Emperor Kaiden’s side when even the chosen ones could not? How is that possible? And I-"

"Tsk, take a small nap. You don’t know what you are talking about."

Princess Danielle knocked Lady Canarie out within seconds before she dragged her away. But the encounter was far from over.

Especially for Shuu, who could only sit there and wonder what he just went through...
