[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 202: Ch : Unneeded Distratcions
"Tsk, how many more of these papers are you going to throw at me? I have not gotten a single day off because of this paperwork, and now you want me to work even more?"
Emperor Kaiden asked as he looked at the paperwork in front of him with impassive eyes. His eyes were asking his aides for the reason behind their decision to throw it all at him.
And the poor aides looked frozen. They took a step back in shock, leaving Liam as the only one who could face the angry Emperor.
"We do apologize for this burden you have to face, Emperor. But we cannot help it this time. Princess Danielle and Prince Yunn are busy... Honestly, we should be training Shuu to take over a little bit of this duty. Why don’t I call for him-"
"There is no need to do that. You have already buried me under all this paperwork, and now you want to include Shuu as well? Don’t you dare do that."
Emperor Kaiden’s words made everyone shudder. He was making it clear that he would not allow anyone to use Shuu for their own gain.
A few aides flinched at the implications, knowing that they would not be able to do what they had initially planned with Shuu. But Liam was the only one who just sighed and thought differently.
"Emperor Kaiden, I know that you have made this decision for Shuu’s sake, but I would like to ask you this - have you asked Shuu about his stance on all this? You might be trying to protect him, but does he want to be protected? What if he wants to help out but is too shy and inexperienced to do so? We can use all the help and-"
"Liam, shut up. We are not going to involve Shuu, and that is final."
Kaiden’s words shut his aides up. But they still looked doubtfully at their emperor and his decision.
The emperor did understand where his aides were coming from. After all, Shuu’s standing in the imperial palace was ambiguous, and no matter what Kaiden tried, he was not able to stabilize it.
Marriage was the only solution he could think of to fix this, but Shuu did not want that.
Taking office, like Liam said, was another option. But Kaiden would rather not have Shuu’s freedom restricted because of this. He alone was enough to handle all this.
Liam sighed at the emperor’s firm decision.
"Alright, if that is something you want, then I will not bring it up with Shuu in the future. It is a good thing that Princess Danielle and Prince Yunn will take back their office soon. It will reduce our burden significantly..."
Liam pointed out as he pushed another document toward Kaiden. He signed it and then looked at the date and time, only to flinch.
"Shit-! Is it already this late? I need to get going now. Liam, you and the others take care of the rest of the documents."
Emperor Kaiden ordered before he stood up and walked toward the door. This sudden action caused everyone to pause and look at him in muted horror.
"W-Where are you going, Emperor? T-There is so much paperwork left... and no time before the wedding... we need to-"
"I need to pick up Shuu and change before the wedding. Unless you want me to show up in work clothes, I suggest you don’t mind too much drama."
Emperor Kaiden warned Liam and the other aides, and they flinched at his words.
In their desire to finish work, they had forgotten all about Emperor Kaiden’s position and his duties. They felt ashamed and were not able to look up.
Liam noticed this, and he also realized that no one would be able to work in this condition.
So, with a heavy heart, he made a decision.
"I guess there is no point in working anymore today. Everyone, go back and prepare for the wedding. We can take back the office tomorrow and hopefully have more help."
A honeymoon? A royal couple did not get one.
A royal wedding took both time and resources. That meant that people had to get to work as soon as possible once it was over to deal with the mess that could have occurred. Prince Yunn and Princess Danielle would be no different.
’I just feel sorry for Shuu in all this. He has not done anything wrong, and yet people will not leave him alone about this.’
But there was nothing Liam could do about that either. Emperor Kaiden had made his decision, and he could only follow his emperor’s words.
__________
’I am late. Hopefully, Shuu will still be waiting for me in his room. Should I go and check up on him?’
Kaiden felt guilty for leaving Shuu alone for this long. He had not meant to do this, but he had just gotten a little... busy with work. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
But Shuu would understand him. He always understood him, and this time should be no different... only, Shuu was not in his room, and the maids had no idea. They were also avoiding looking into Emperor Kaiden’s eyes as they told him that.
He had known that the maids were causing trouble for Shuu, but he had not interfered in all this because Shuu had asked him not to. But it was clear to him that he should have put an end to all this long before.
Thankfully, he had someone follow Shuu most of the time, and he just needed to ask his familiar about Shuu.
"Shuu headed toward your room."
Nero appeared out of thin air, causing the maids to jump back in fright. But Kaiden did not pay attention to them and instead, he turned around and started to head toward his room.
Nero sighed as he followed the emperor. He also felt uncomfortable with Shuu’s current position. But unlike others, he had no time or opportunity to help Shuu out. Especially not with how he kept feeling a sense of danger and had to leave often to check it out...
Like right now...
"Kaiden..."
"I know. I feel that as well. Go and check if there is any danger approaching us."
