[BL] The Mafia Boss Wants My Body-Chapter 32: What Is Matteo Hiding?
Adrian’s eyes widened. "How? You’ll scare them more."
Matteo turned Adrian around, leaning in to kiss the back of his neck as the warm water poured over them. "Just focus on me. Let me handle the rest."
After the shower, they stepped out into the steam-filled room, quietly drying each other’s skin with thick, plush towels.
They slipped into comfortable clothes and climbed into the massive bed, where Adrian finally allowed Matteo to pull him close and hold him until they both fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, Adrian woke up early and dressed, but he had to wait for Matteo, who had called an urgent meeting with his men.
Adrian sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for Matteo. But as the minutes stretched into an hour, he grew restless and got up, starting to move around the room.
He noticed something.
Every place Matteo brought him to felt the same. Cold. Clean. Even when the rooms were bigger, the design never really changed.
Adrian walked around, his curiosity getting the better of him. He started checking things he probably shouldn’t, opening drawers, looking through shelves.
Then he paused.
A shelf caught his attention. It was filled with books and a few leather-bound files.
Adrian picked one up, flipping it in his hand.
"Oh... so Matteo actually reads," he murmured to himself.
He kept looking, hoping to find something else interesting, when he spotted something tucked beneath the heavy folders. It was only half-visible, but the color made him freeze: a bright, pink diary.
His mind flashed back to the night he lost his family. He remembered his wife sitting in the passenger seat, quietly writing in her pink diary while he drove. But when he woke up in the hospital, the diary was gone. It wasn’t among the things recovered from the scene.
Why would a man like Matteo, who only wore black, have a pink diary?
He reached out to grab it, but the sound of heavy footsteps in the hallway stopped him. He quickly shoved everything back into place and rushed to the sofa, sitting down just as the door opened.
Matteo walked in, apologizing for keeping Adrian waiting. Then he told him it was time for them to leave.
They stepped outside to the waiting car and both got into the back seat. The driver started the engine and pulled away, heading toward Adrian’s house.
Throughout the ride, Adrian stayed quiet, his mind turning over the same question, why did Matteo have that pink diary?
The car finally stopped in front of Adrian’s house. Matteo pulled him a little closer, his eyes searching Adrian’s face. "Should I pick you up after work?"
Adrian wanted to say no at first, but he needed to get back to that house, to confirm what he had seen.
So he nodded.
"Yeah, pick me up. But I’ll be meeting my friends after the studio, so you can get me there."
Matteo nodded. "Okay. But remember... You aren’t allowed to touch anyone, or be touched by anyone, who isn’t me."
Adrian chuckled at the possessiveness, but the moment was interrupted by a car parking right in front of them.
A woman stepped out of the vehicle, and Matteo’s eyes narrowed as he asked, "Who is she?"
"That’s my sister, Maya," Adrian answered, reaching for the door handle. "I have to leave now."
"Okay," Matteo said, pressing a kiss to his cheek before letting go. "I’ll call you, make sure you pick up right away."
Adrian gave a quick nod and stepped out, watching as Matteo’s dark car sped away before turning to meet his sister.
"Who just dropped you off?" Maya asked immediately, her eyes full of curiosity.
"Just a friend," Adrian replied casually as they walked toward his front door.
Once inside, Maya didn’t waste any time getting to the point. "Dad is turning sixty the first week of next month, Adrian. He’s having a big birthday celebration. You have to come."
"He clearly didn’t invite me, Maya," Adrian said firmly. "I can’t just show up where I’m not wanted."
"I don’t care about the drama," Maya insisted, crossing her arms. "He’s your father and it’s a milestone. You have to be there, no matter what."
They argued back and forth until Maya finally gave up and left. leaving Adrian frustrated and drained.
Adrian went to the studio afterward, but he couldn’t focus. His mind kept drifting back to Matteo’s room. After work, he headed to the usual restaurant to meet his friends.
Charles and Frank sat in silence for a long time, just staring at him until Adrian finally snapped, "What?"
"What exactly is going on between you and Matteo?" they asked in unison.
Adrian was shocked but tried to play it cool. "Nothing is going on."
"Adrian, you don’t have to hide anything," Charles said gently. "We aren’t going to judge you. We like men too, but we care about your safety. What is going on?"
"I told you, nothing is happening," Adrian repeated.
"You always have something to say, so why are your answers so short now?" Frank asked bluntly. "Did you go back and sleep with him again?"
"Frank, don’t ask it like that," Charles scolded, then turned back to Adrian. "Do you find him interesting? Do you like him?"
"No, I don’t like him like that..." Adrian murmured.
"What? Speak up!" Frank shouted.
"You like him," Charles asked calmly, watching Adrian’s reaction.
Adrian couldn’t find the words to argue; the silence stretched between them.
"It’s okay if you do," Charles said. "Even if he’s a monster, if you like him, we just have to accept it and pray for your safety."
Adrian just stared at the table, unable to deny it any longer.
"Why won’t you say anything?" Frank shouted, his frustration boiling over. "We are worried sick about you!"
"Lower your voice, Frank," Charles cut in, glancing around. "We’re not the only ones here."
Charles leaned closer to Adrian, his voice softening. "Is he treating you any better? Different? Something that makes you actually like him a little?"
Adrian looked at his friend and slowly, tentatively, he nodded. "Yes."
Frank slammed his hand on the table. "Are you insane, Adrian? You like him? That feeling better not grow. You’re putting yourself in danger. There’s no way you’re allowed to be with him!"
"Will you be quiet, Frank?" Charles snapped.
"Is it about the sex?" Charles asked, leaning in. "Because you’re too shy to talk to women, so you feel like you can just get it from him, or—"
"No," Adrian interrupted before Charles could even finish the thought.
"Then what is so interesting about him that makes you want to risk your life?" Frank demanded.
"Frank, please stop talking," Charles said, moving his chair even closer to Adrian. "Adrian... Matteo is a very dangerous man. I’m not saying you can’t like him, but do you trust that he won’t hurt you?"
Adrian didn’t hesitate this time. He nodded. "Yes." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Charles looked at him for a long moment and smiled. "Fine. You’re an adult. We are your friends, you know what you want. We just want you to be happy."
Charles grinned, teasing him. "If he’s the right one, then our friend just got himself the hottest, most dangerous mafia boyfriend in the city."
Adrian blushed. "He isn’t my boyfriend yet."
"Not yet... but soon," Charles said with a laugh. "He’s rich, he’s hot... everyone wants him, even knowing how dangerous he is. But somehow, our innocent Adrian is the one who caught his attention."
"Stop, Charles," Adrian muttered.
"I’m still worried," Frank said, looking at both of them.
"I know," Charles replied. "But don’t you want to see Adrian happy? If he’s the right one, we just have to be there for him."
"I do," Frank admitted. "But we can’t protect him if Matteo turns on him. Why choose someone we have no power over?"
"I haven’t chosen him yet," Adrian insisted.
"Just shut up," Frank joked. "You haven’t chosen him, yet you can’t reject him either. Fuck you, Adrian."
Charles was still teasing Adrian when the restaurant door suddenly swung open.
The chatter in the room died instantly as Matteo and his squad of men stepped inside, their presence turning the cozy restaurant cold.
Frank, who was facing the entrance, saw him first. His eyes widened, his expression going pale as the tall figure in a black suit moved toward them.
Charles and Adrian had their backs to the door, completely unaware of what was coming.
"Charles," Frank said, reaching across the table. "Come here. I need to tell you something right now."
Charles frowned, confused by the panic in Frank’s voice, but he stood up and slid into the booth beside him. As he turned, he finally saw Matteo, and the bodyguards standing behind Adrian.
Adrian was still laughing at their earlier joke, leaning back in his chair. "Why do you both look so shocked? You look like you’ve seen a ghost."
Before they could answer, a warm hand rested on Adrian’s shoulder. A second later, Matteo leaned down. He didn’t care about the silent restaurant or the prying eyes, he pressed a firm, lingering kiss to the side of Adrian’s neck.
"Hi, baby," Matteo murmured, his voice a low, possessive rumble.
Frank and Charles stared at each other, their jaws practically dropping. Under their breath, they repeated, "Hi, baby? ...Hi, baby?"
Adrian froze, his entire body going stiff.
