(BL) The Villain wants a Divorce!-Chapter 437: Can dragons be this thoughtful?
Cass was humming to himself, in a good mood after the day that he’d had, which meant that Lucian who was at his side was also in a good mood. Now, at least.
He’d said goodnight to both Sam and Byron, not needing the other dragon now that he had Lucian at his side. He had a feeling that the two had some...things that they needed to discuss, and Cass was a good enough employer that he could let them both go for the night. Byron had looked nervous, but Cass had a feeling that everything was going to be fine.
He hoped, at least.
Edgar and Gideon branched off from the group after dinner as well, Edgar asking for permission to look through the books in several of the rooms to see if the place was stocked with what he needed. Cass told him to go wild, just to make sure that everything stayed clean. Gideon looked like a nervous schoolboy, and Cass couldn’t blame him.
He was about to be alone for a few hours at least with Edgar, the man who hadn’t hidden his intentions all that well. Gideon better do something with Edgar or Cass was going to be on his case about it.
Edgar needed someone else he could take his uh, frustrations out on. Cass didn’t want to be everyone’s punching bag.
Cass couldn’t even think that without his face going red just remembering what Edgar had said to him in the shop, done to him in the carriage. Yeah, Edgar needed another person to spread that to. Cass wasn’t sure if his heart could handle that kind of behaviour while he was sober and still himself. His heart had been pounding in his chest the whole time.
"What are you thinking about?" Lucian asked, the damn peeker. He could absolutely tell that Cass was a little nervous and remembering what Edgar had done to him. Cass cleared his throat.
"Thinking about how I hope Gideon works up the courage to do something with Edgar." Cass said and Lucian snorted.
"Is that all? Because from how your heart is racing, I don’t think it is. Unless you want to watch them." In typical, we’re on the stairs, fashion, Lucian hadn’t kept his voice down when he said that.
Thankfully, no one else was visibly around, but that didn’t mean that Cass stopped and spun, covering Lucian’s mouth with his hands. The bristles from his facial hair rubbed against Cass’ hands.
"Lucian, please! Lower your voice on the stairs." Cass pleaded. He just knew that others had been able to hear that. "Or save this conversation for the bedroom. Please?" Cass scanned his face, catching his eyes and Lucian’s orange gaze began to curl. His hand slid to Cass’ left arm, wrapping around his wrist. He tugged on Cass’ hand, and Cass let him pull his hand away.
"Cassy Baby, are you embarrassed that others can hear what we discuss?" He asked and Cass nodded.
"I don’t like others knowing our business. My business." Cass confirmed and Lucian’s expression softened. Cass’ right hand which was still on his face but not muffling his words, twitched as Lucian turned. He pressed a kiss against Cass’ palm, causing Cass to tear his hand right hand away. Lucian laughed.
"Alright. I will make sure to check my surroundings. Does it make you feel better if I tell you we’re the only ones around?" He asked and Cass shook his head.
"Our voices echo." Cass told him and Lucian chuckled.
"You’re far too cute sometimes." Lucian said, tugging on the hand that he had in his own. Slowly, watching Cass’ expression, he linked their fingers. Holding Cass’ hand tightly, their fingers rubbing against each other. Lucian’s smile was big, infectious. Cass’ face burned. "Come on then, pick up the pace. I have many things I want to discuss with you before you begin your reading." Lucian said, eagerly pulling Cass up the stairs. Cass had no choice but to follow.

Cass was warm, bathed, and a little sleepy once Lucian had gotten him back to the room. Lucian had insisted that if Cass was planning to ’wind down’ that he should get a nice bath, warm clothes, tea and a few snacks, just in case. Cass was going to protest, but he found that it was too late.
Lucian had used his magic to start the bath before they reached the second floor, so when they arrived the bath was almost full. He’d already made sure that there were snacks in the room, tea, a full of water but cold teapot, and a few pajama sets on the bed. Cass was stunned, and then swept away by Lucian.
Cass had no idea that the man had planned this, which honestly, made some of his anger at Cass and Edgar feel a little more understandable. If he had been at home setting this up and then felt how Cass and Edgar were...up to no good...
Yeah. Cass would have been angry too.
Which made it hard for Cass to tell him now when he helped Cass bathe, washing his hair with careful hands, telling Cass about his day and what he got up to while he was gone. He then had helped slather Cass in moisturizer, something that Sam had made sure Lucian had, dressed him in the outfit that he had chosen, and then he had warmed up the water for the tea.
It was so sweet that Cass found himself pushing Lucian down on the sofa to crawl into his lap and curl up against him.
Lucian, of course, was not the kind of man, nor dragon, that would resist him when Cass crawled on top of him. He chuckled, holding Cass against him.
"Is something wrong?" Lucian asked, far more relaxed then he had been when he had met them outside the carriage.
"I just feel guilty now." Cass admitted. "I had no idea you had something like this planned." Cass told him and Lucian squeezed him lightly.
"How could you have known? I didn’t tell you." Lucian said. "It was meant to be a surprise. I was quite happy when you said you wanted to go to your bedroom after dinner to read. It meant that I could treat you to this." Lucian said and Cass flinched, sighing. He felt terrible. There were times when he thought their bond wasn’t too bad, but this was not one of those times.
"Don’t you get upset when you can feel me with others?" Cass asked, curious and worried at the same time. Lucian paused.
"Well, I think my reaction earlier was a pretty good idea of how I was feeling." Lucian told him sarcastically, at least aware that he had been a terror. "I apologise for that. I shouldn’t have let it get so big. To consume me as much as it did. In my defense, it is actually harder for dragons to tone down our emotions. It’s a flaw that has led to several wars." Lucian told him, sounding remorseful.
However, Cass shook his head.
"No. Don’t apologise. I...If I had been in your shoes and felt you doing things with someone else where I couldn’t see you? No one would have had a meal to eat." Cass told him. Lucian paused, before he laughed.
Lucian’s gaze was warm as he pulled back, forcing Cass to look at his face. He was smiling, his eyes bright, his lips curled upwards. His hands slid down Cass’ body, resting on his hips and he gave them a squeeze.
"You’re quite petty, aren’t you?" Lucian teased. Cass felt himself frown, his expression twisting before he sighed and nodded, closing his eyes briefly. Lucian laughed. He leaned in, nuzzling his head against Cass’ chin. "That’s okay. I think I like you petty. Only when it isn’t directed towards me." He countered. "Now, are you going to tell me about what you and Edgar got up to?" He asked and Cass twitched.
He didn’t really want to...explain what he’d done.
Lucian’s gaze narrowed after a moment as he felt Cass fill with guilt.
"Cass, you don’t have to tell me, but I would feel more comfortable if you told me." Lucian gentled his voice, similar to what Cass had done to him earlier. Cass hissed, annoyed, but this was his own bed.
He had to lie in it.
"I was the one who started it." Cass muttered, and Lucian actually seemed surprised by that.
"I was ready to accuse Edgar, but you, Cass?" Lucian sounded surprised, but not disappointed. Cass nodded miserably.
"I couldn’t help it. I was trying to cheer him up but his reactions were just...he was so startled that I was teasing him." Cass felt the words rush out of him. He found himself describing the situation, how Cass would tease Edgar until Edgar snapped. Cass stuttered over his explanation about what happened on the couch, and what Edgar had said.
Then he explained that they really were just feeding Edgar in the carriage, but Cass hadn’t realised how impactful it was going to be for him. That explained how things had gotten a little...out of hand.
When he was done, Cass said in Lucian’s lap, awkward, flushed, and honestly? A little turned on from remembering what he had done.
Lucian’s hands hadn’t moved from his hips, holding him in place as he listened intently.
"Hmm." Lucian spoke finally, making a thoughtful noise. "So what I’ve learned is that you like to tease, and you really do like Edgar’s fangs." Cass’ face heated further. "Well, I guess I can get my fangs involved then." Lucian said and Cass let out a gasp.
"You have fangs too?" Cass asked, and then closed his eyes and wanted to fucking kick himself. He had been too eager to respond. Too quick to ask.
Cass’ body shook as Lucian laughed.
"Oh dear. It seems I’ve been neglecting my lovely Cass’ desires. I’ll have to make sure to amend that." Cass wanted to kick himself. "However, there is a small detail that might be concerning to you. My teeth can only be that sharp when I’m semi-shifted." Lucian told him.
Cass felt his heart stop, his breath still, and his head jerked up to Lucian’s.
His smile was shit-eating. His hand squeezed Cass’ hip and he scanned Cass’ expression.
"You are going to be my ruin." Lucian whispered, his eyes dipping to Cass’ lips before Cass found the man pressed against him in a kiss so tender it made Cass feel dirty for his own thoughts. Lucian’s eyes were bright as he stared at Cass, pulling away. "How beautiful." He murmured and Cass had to drop his gaze.
He was too warm and soft for this right now. He felt completely seduced. Any walls he had were gone, and that was a bad thing. Especially knowing what Lucian wanted from him.
Cass let out a steadying breath, trying to ground himself. He needed to get his hands on his book, otherwise they weren’t going to stay on the sofa for long.
