Blackstone Code-Chapter 251:
When stepping into a middle-class household, with good financial standing and top-tier education, at the very least, one would expect to see a clean and orderly home.
It might not be luxurious or filled with expensive decor, but it would be clean and tidy, including the clothes in the wardrobe or drawers.
The clothes would be carefully folded in a certain way and placed together, and the moment a stranger saw them, it would give some people a special sense of shock.
Those who were shocked by such tidiness were often disorganized and lacked self-discipline themselves, which was why they were impressed by others' discipline.
Sometimes, these people were also arrogant, believing there was nothing they couldn't achieve if they put their mind to it.
And if there was something they couldn't do, then surely others couldn't either—until one day, they saw a scene that they simply couldn't handle.
Perfectly arranged underwear.
Vera was not a full-time accountant before; she was the type of woman who was affiliated with an accounting firm, going in when there was work and staying at home when there wasn't.
Their children were cared for by her parents, giving Vera plenty of time.
The maid her family haired handled the more laborious tasks, leaving Vera to manage the rest. As a woman who was used to neatly filling out numbers in her job, she had a typical compulsion for neatness that even she didn't fully understand.
She meticulously folded and organized everything, not just her underwear. If one opened Gap's wardrobe, the first thing they'd see were the ties and tie clips, rolled up and placed in boxes almost exactly as they'd see in a store.
It was a habit, but now it seemed to be causing some people to feel both embarrassed and angry, even though no one was accusing them of anything.
The female officer's exclamation had attracted a few male officers and another female officer. When they saw the underwear, the looks they gave Vera made her feel as if she were standing in front of them, completely exposed, wearing that underwear.
Her face quickly turned red and then pale. "You have no right to do this..."
The female officer looked at Vera, shaking her head with a smirk, "No, I do."
She said this while continuing to flip through the underwear right in front of Vera, opening them up and ridiculing the indecency of the underwear and assuming that the woman wearing such indecent underwear must also be indecent.
Vera trembled with anger. But the moment she took a step, the hand of another female officer immediately rested on the grip of her gun, eyeing Vera warily.
She didn't say anything, just stared at Vera.
The entire world suddenly felt incomprehensibly unfamiliar to Vera. These officers had barged into her home and humiliated her, but she had no recourse.
The two senior agents appeared to have no intention of intervening, merely watching the scene unfold.
At that moment, Vera, suppressing her discomfort, made a request. "I want to make a phone call."
The cautious female officer removed her hand from her gun's grip. "Fine, but I must know who you're calling and what you're saying."
Vera glared at her for a moment before walking over to the nightstand and picking up the phone. Just as she finished dialing, the female officer pressed the speaker button, then forcibly took the receiver from Vera's hand and placed it back on the phone. "I told you, I need to know what you're saying."
At this point, Vera was completely powerless. As a woman who had abided by societal rules for thirty years, having not resisted at the outset, she wouldn't resist now either. She silently accepted this unreasonable demand.
"It's me..." The call was quickly answered, and the voice on the other end immediately calmed Vera's trembling body.
Vera pursed her lips before saying. "Can you come to my place? I'm in some trouble."
Lynch didn't hesitate for long. Over the speakerphone, there was the sound of hurried writing, the scratching of a pen on paper, and the friction of it across the desk. "Of course, I'll be there soon..."
The call ended there, and the female officer looked at her with a mocking expression. "It won't matter who comes. Understand, ma'am?"
The nature of cases like this had actually been communicated internally within the police department, and with the higher-ups' tacit approval, everyone had become bolder.
Don't think that all police officers were good people—they weren't. Policing was just their job. Outside of it, they were ordinary people living in society.
They were no different from most regular folks; they would experience joy, anger, love, and hate, and have the same petty flaws as everyone else—like jealousy.
A beautiful woman, a beautiful home, a wardrobe full of beautiful underwear that these two female officers could only admire through shop windows for their whole lives. They might not even be able to afford them, and even if they could, they might not fit.
Everyone loved beautiful things, but those things must not contrast their own ugliness; otherwise, it would no longer be beautiful—at least, they wouldn't admit it.
Soon, Lynch's car arrived at the door. Order had returned to Sabin City. The once-starving people, too weak to even take a few steps without gasping for breath, could no longer pose any threat to society.
There were still some soldiers patrolling the streets from time to time. This was the transition period between the old and new presidents, so the military had yet to withdraw from Sabin City. Once the new president was sworn in at the presidential palace, the soldiers would leave.
Because of this, Lynch could once again drive his car through the streets, which made him feel much better.
As soon as he entered Vera's house, a few officers moved toward him, but upon recognizing his face, they awkwardly retreated.
There were very few officers in Sabin City's police force who didn't know Lynch. After donating ten police cars to the department, most officers were aware of this wealthy businessman and his relationship with the police chief.
Especially since, at the chief's persuasion, Lynch had donated 20,000 bucks to the police club. Even if the officers didn't appreciate him, they certainly didn't hate him.
Once inside the house, Lynch removed his coat and hat, casually hanging them on the nearby rack, before glancing at the two agents standing by the hallway upstairs and showing them a clean, bright smile.
Handsome, smiling young men would always receive friendly treatment, and the two agents quickly averted their gaze. They, too, knew Lynch.
Lynch was becoming more and more well-known in Sabin City. Though not many ordinary people knew him yet, agents and officers certainly did.
Every city had some untouchable figures. For instance, the Sabin Mayor's nephew, Mark.
Or Lynch, who had a good relationship with the mayor and local tycoons—these people were tough to deal with. Most wouldn't risk antagonizing someone privately for the sake of their job; it wasn't worth it.
Lynch soon entered the room upstairs. When Vera saw him, she breathed a heavy sigh of relief. "Thank god, you're finally here..."
Her eyes immediately reddened as she spoke. It was the first time in her life that she had endured such grievance and humiliation. The looks that had swept across her like sharp blades had cut not just her body but her soul.
Lynch gently hugged Vera, comforting her. "Leave the rest to me."
This sentence instantly relaxed Vera. Lynch could feel her exhaustion and gently help her to sit on the bed. "You should rest a bit..." he said, then turned to face the others. "Apologies, ladies and gentlemen, this lady is unwell and needs to rest. Could I ask you to continue your search later?"
Judging by the chaotic state of the house, Lynch knew they had some legal backing, likely a search warrant.
In the Baylor Federation, legal procedures were strictly enforced. No one dared to cross that line.
Officially, these procedures were said to protect the rights of ordinary citizens. And while that might appear to be true, they were really in place to protect the powerful.
There was once a murder case in federal judicial history where a rich man's wife had been brutally killed at home, and all the evidence pointed to the rich man. But at a crucial moment, an investigator's failure to follow procedure rendered key evidence inadmissible, dragging the case out for so long that it eventually went cold.
Even when the rich man later hinted to others, while drunk, that he was responsible for it, it no longer mattered. The procedural error had cost the police their chance, and the failed case sealed the matter permanently.
If the rich man never got involved in another case, it could be said that he successfully escaped justice.
As for the investigator… He soon resigned from guilt and became yet another rich man.
The rigid legal processes prevented law enforcement from overstepping. If they had broken in without a warrant, not only would they have been at fault, but it might have even given the Listoan Group's case a new lease on life.

Of course, none of that was likely to happen because they were following the procedure.
After a moment of contemplation, the two agents left the room. They had already searched the place once before. They knew there wasn't much here. This was just a formality, a way to pressure Vera.
With the agents gone, the two female officers had no choice but to leave as well. As Lynch closed the door, he couldn't help but frown.
It was well known that Lynch was a man of high moral standing, one who had transcended vulgar interests. Yet, just as he was closing the door, he overheard the fat female officer outside making crude remarks about him and Vera, sarcastically speculating on their relationship.
In her filthy description, Lynch and Vera had already developed an intimate relationship beyond friendship, which was why he had come to her aid. Please vote for this novel at /series/blackstone-code/There are advance chapters available nowAccess will be granted 24 hours after the donationTier 1: 7 Advance chapters Link
