Blackthorn - Top Secret Villain School-Chapter 29: Declaration of War
"You’re lying, that can’t be true!" D said as he hit the soft pillow atop his bed with a fist. Clea wasn’t really looking at him anymore, more so interested in the different amenities around the room.
She made a grab towards one of Max’s bags and D was instantly up, grabbing the lone book bag away from her.
"I thought I told you not to touch anything, If you don’t know how to listen just say that...bitch." He muttered the last word of that sentence somewhat under his breath. Typically he’d say something like that loud and proud, not caring in the slightest who heard, but this woman was different. She was dangerous.
"My apologies Mr. Cross, I’m just doing my job as a member of the SSC. It’s our job to find anything that poses a large danger to students and remove it, which is why I’m going to say this again...Do not participate in the Thorn Trials if you value your life."
D snorted out a small harsh laugh. "You think I’d still be talking to you if i valued my own life? Look around you doll, this whole island is one big death trap."
"Hmm...You see a death trap, others see a paradise. A true place for our kind to exist without the persecution of the outside world. Is that not a beautiful thing D?"
In her zealous rambling she didn’t notice she had slipped up and used his nickname instead of his last name as she usually did. She was standing now, looking out the window near Roxanne’s bed. Looking out at all the students who were happy and free on the island, very unlike the man she found herself talking to.
"Don’t forget this was your decision, you brought me here C-Clea." He said, fumbling around her given name like it was some foreign object.
Clea sighed and returned to the center of the room from the window.
"Regardless of who brought who where, what I am telling you is the truth. The SSC are partial administrators along with the school’s staff and will be proctors in all parts of the Thorn Trials."
D still couldn’t believe that her little cabal of murderers would be allowed to host the trials, he figured maybe that’s why they were so dangerous.
"It’s a shame about Valeria, I heard she had to drop out of the trials. I wonder who you’ll turn to for a replacement. Hopefully you can find one in time or else you wont be able to participate..." She said all of this with mock horror tone in her voice.
"You had something to do with that didn’t you? If I find out you did anything to her..." He didn’t finish the thought, not wanting to overtly provoke her into a fight he wasn’t sure he could win. Even without her sword he figured she’d be a hard opponent to take down.
D was about sick of her antics and so he shot off his bed and went to the door opening it.
"Alright, this was fun but I think it’s time you leave y’know. Feel free to stop by never again!" Spire stood from where she leaned on Max’s bedpost and walked over to D but instead of walking out of the door she grabbed it and forced it closed, as she pressed her body up against D
She grabbed his hand and placed it on her waist. D’s mind immediately went into 30 different directions at once. His mind and body torn from each other, each one wanting to do something different in this situation.
"Are you sure there’s nothing I can do about you entering the trials, D. Please tell me if anything has come to your mind..." She pressed in closer, he could feel the heat of her breath on his skin. Finally after saying nothing for a moment and being sick of being pushed around by her day after day he leaned in and kissed her on the mouth.
She stumbled back in absolute shock, obviously not expecting that from him. Her cheeks were flushed red as she looked like she was going to say something, or do something. One of which might be flay him alive or pounce on him like she was in heat but in the end she simply opened the door to his side and walked out without saying another word.
D didn’t move from the side of the door for a couple of seconds, maybe a minute. He stood in overwhelming shock before slowly sliding down the wall to the floor and putting his hands on his head.
"Why did I do that? What the hell just happened?" Were the only words he could get out, the only words that seemed to make any sense after what had just happened.
His V-band vibrated on his wrist and he flicked it open, revealing a message from simultaneously the best and worst person he could’ve gotten a message from at this moment...
A blinking digital message request from one [Scarlett Hemlock] was staring him right in the face for him to decide what to do with.
He stood up and walked over to his bed and began pacing in front of it, trying to calm the hurricane of thoughts in his mind. He thought about inviting Scarlett over here but would she smell Clea’s lavender scent lacing the space of his room? Would she think he’d had a girl over besides Roxanne?
He wasn’t sure why he cared if she knew Clea was here, or any other girl for that matter. He figured it didn’t matter as he pressed accept on the message request and began typing out a long request to meet up with her sometime today.
He watched the reply bubble go up and down and stay loading for a long while, around 10 minutes, before she finally responded saying yes she would meet him. She also asked him what this was about but he didn’t have time to explain that over text.
’Let’s meet at Rookman hall, come to the tenth floor’ Was all that he said before sending off the message to her.
That’s when another knock sounded off at the door making him jump out of his skin...
