Blade of the Goddess-Chapter 228
Chapter 228: Chapter 228
"Wooo, that was fun. I gotta do that again." After returning to the middle world, Zion made his way back home to relax. He had been super busy lately and wanted to get some good sleep before he had to leave for the beastman kingdom.
"Are you crazy?!" Out of nowhere, Luminera suddenly tackled him into his fracture, landing on his body while wrapping her hands around his neck to choke him.
"Ahkkk! W-What are you doing?!" He wheezed, trying to push her off.
"I should kill you right now! You stupid little bastard! Do you know what you’ve just done?!" It was obvious that Luminera was panicking, but for what reason, Zion didn’t know.
"Calm down, sis. I don’t think he did anything wrong. I mean, this is even better for us, right?" Erebosa was casually sitting on a beach chair, looking up at the sky with sunglasses on, eating some chips and a soda.
"Zion, whatever this food and drink is, it’s amazing! We need this in the demon world, like asap! Fuck, I can’t get enough of this!"
Luminera glared at her sister. "Shut up, Erebosa! You know why attacking the upper world is a bad idea! Unlike you, I actually put countermeasures in place to prevent something like a single-sided massacre from happening! Now that Zion destroyed parts of the upper world, they’re going to come after him now!"
Erebosa raised her sunglasses. "What are you talking about? Who would come after him?"
"The Sentinels." Luminera herself wasn’t afraid of them; however, she knew how powerful they were, and she feared for Zion’s safety so much so that she considered hiding him in her part of heaven.
"Those guys? Weren’t they destroyed? You didn’t have any use for them after the demon war."
Luminera shook her head. "I didn’t destroy them, I put them on stasis. I didn’t think getting rid of such a weapon would be right, so I kept them around just in case. However, I never got the chance to use them when we were overthrown. So now, they’re in the hands of the angels.
"Aaakkk! G-Get off meeee!"
"Are you serious, sis! I told you to destroy them the moment you were done with them! Like I did! Why would you do something as stupid as keeping those murder machines around?! This is why I can’t leave you alone! You always go against my will."
Luminera couldn’t even look up at her sister. She was too ashamed to do so. Especially since there was another secret she was keeping.
"Oh no, I know that look." Erebosa frowned. "Tell me, what did you do?"
"I...I took your Sentinels."
Silence.
"Then, I merged them with my own. A-Although we’re not of the same divine species, we’re sisters, so our power is compatible. I thought that making them the ultimate weapon and having them on standby was a good decision."
Erebosa had to stand up for this. "Let me get this straight. You thought that it was a good idea to keep four creations that are capable of killing gods and devils, combine them together into two super god killing weapons, and just have them in stasis, hoping that nothing goes wrong? Ang get the fuck off Zion!"
Luminera stopped choking him, allowing Zion to finally breathe after a whole three minutes of being choked to death.
He stood up, coughing for a bit before looking at both of them. "What are sentinels?"
"Ask this dumbass," Erebosa grumbled angrly.
’Ha! It’s funny seeing them act like siblings. Damn, I miss my sisters.’
"Early during our rule over the world, wars occurred a lot of times. However, the wars between you mortals or even the angels and demons are nothing compared to the wars between gods."
"Wait, wait, wait. I thought you two were ambushed by your ’children’ and almost died then."
Ereabosa laughed, patting Zion on the back. "I wish I had your ignorance, little one. Makes life a lot easier."
"What are you talking about?"
"The gods of this world aren’t the only gods of the universe, Zion," Luminera spoke.
"Yeah, I know. You told me that there are millions of them across the universe when we first met."
She nodded. "That’s right. But did you know that there are gods who invade other worlds? Who conquered them? Or who wants to claim it as their own?"
He tilted his head in confusion, looking at the two ’gods’ in front of him. "I thought gods could only rule over their own world. Aren’t they connected to the world itself? Like...like its...I don’t know, will?"
"The will of the world? Well, if you want to put it that way, then yes, they are. However, that isn’t always the case. You see, worlds are alive, just like any other being in the universe. When a god is born, they are connected to the will of the world. Basically, gods are forced to only care for the world, not destroy it. And when I say that, I mean literally destroy the world. If the god wishes to kill every single bit of life on the planet, the world wouldn’t stop it because life will always be reborn. However, if the planet dies, so does the god."
Zion nodded. "So they have a mutual relationship."
"That’s right. Gods get all the power, and they work with the will of the world to ensure that balance is kept. And by balance, I mean the world doesn’t fucking blow up. Anyway, as you know, gods also get power from faith, people believing in them. The more followers they have, the more powerful they become."
"Exactly. So now, especially after learning about how gods are connected to this ’will’ of the world, how would they invade other worlds?" Zion wondered.
Erebosa tapped Zion on the head. "It’s simple. Their inhabitants relocate to another world."
"Like space travel?"
"And reincarnation," Luminera answered.
"So, if I worshiped a god on my old world and came here while still worshiping them, they would now be able to come to this world?" Zion asked
"That’s right. While they wouldn’t be as powerful after leaving their host world, they are still a god, so they would still be a threat. This has happened to us multiple times. And the fact that each world operates differently makes fighting them hard because you never know what to expect."
"So what does this have to do with sentinels?"
Luminera sighed. "The Sentinels were created to defend the world from threats like foreign gods."
