Blind Spot-Chapter 50 - 048 Strange Four
Chapter 50: 048 Strange Four
Chapter 50: 048 Strange Four
In the hall, the woman also paused and stopped at the spot where the vase had been thrown before Li Chengyi.
“Here, according to the surveillance, throwing the vase with enough strength to repel a group of people, she has reached the basic level of a Reinforced Human,” she said, her gaze sweeping over the traces left by the shattered vase.
“Which kind of enhancement? An Earth-Type Black Wolf Suit?” the man asked.
“Somewhat similar, but the strength is weaker, the speed about the same; no distinctive features are discernible for now,” the woman continued as she followed the trail to the elevator.
“Didn’t take the elevator, the person went up via the stairwell.”
She turned and followed the trail up the stairwell until she reached the ninth floor.
The ninth floor was a spacious lounge, with the enormous logo of Ash Real Estate still emblazoned on the right wall. The blue-black metallic lettering faintly reflected the moonlight at night.
“This is where Dason died, knocked down from above,” the woman slowly approached the shattered floor-to-ceiling window and looked down through the broken glass.
“Got a theory now?” the man asked in a deep voice.
“Yes, roughly on par with the standard Earth-Type Black Wolf, but lacking the Black Wolf’s fang launcher. Of course, that doesn’t rule out the possibility they deliberately didn’t use it,” the woman answered. “The incident at the Grecius Parking Garage, which had been completely buried, and with most of the knowledgeable people dead, I didn’t expect new troubles to emerge now.”
“There must be a Blind Spot involved,” the man spoke from the communicator.
“Blind Spot?” The woman hesitated, “Isn’t that just some self-indulgent fantasy within small circles? Does it actually exist?”
“You wouldn’t know if you weren’t concerned about it, but it does exist. Although rare, at any given time, a city might only have a dozen people encountering it, so many are unaware. The number of people dying in Yi Country from Blind Spots might not even total a few hundred a day, perhaps even less, because dying in a Blind Spot isn’t immediate, there’s still a chance to survive,” the man explained.
“Think about it, tens of billions of people in Yi Country, natural and accidental deaths alone total nearly tens of thousands a day. A mere few hundred are inconspicuous. The authorities wouldn’t bother if not for the safety of certain privileged offspring.”
“True, after all, the focus of all the forces and conglomerates still converges on Star Lake and us,” the woman sighed. “The conflict between Flying Yi and the Reinforced Humans affects the fortunes of Yi Country and White Star Country, while Blind Spots have such a small impact they are negligible.”
“That’s right, so I was also surprised when I found it involved a Blind Spot. Wait… got it… my information shows that Hongjin Company from Suiyang does have a connection to the Blind Spots. The boss’s son died in one. It seems he stumbled upon this while investigating inadvertently, can you deal with it?” the man asked.
“Alright, give me the address; I’ll head over immediately,” the woman turned towards the stairs.
“Once confirmed, call people in to deal with it immediately, and make it clean.”
“Don’t worry.”

Zhaoshan Urban District.
It was 9:16 PM in North District One, on Changdong Street.
The Mist Banner SUV slowed to a stop by the curb, joining a row of sedans that were parked under the street lamps.
The passengers inside looked out the window.
A row of electric scooters was lined up on the sidewalk, and beyond the scooters were a series of shop fronts.
Directly opposite the car window was a KTV with colorful flashing lights and the words ‘Golden Peng Entertainment’ hung on the façade.
“This is the place. My newly contracted talent works here,” Xindela said nonchalantly, taking out a cigarette.
“You don’t mind, do you?” He glanced at the others.
They shook their heads.
He lit his cigarette with a lighter and took a deep drag.
“This girl named Zhong Ying is only seventeen years old and has been working here for half a year. Although she’s earned quite a bit, she hadn’t had the chance to enjoy the money before she encountered a Blind Spot. Then, she found my online mutual aid group and actively applied to join for help.”
“How should we approach this?” Sima Gui asked.
“We wait for her to take us to where she entered the Blind Spot, then you two try to sense any Flash Appearances. Be careful, though it seems like you’re safe as long as you leave quickly, still be wary; anything can happen in a Blind Spot,” Xindela cautioned.

“Don’t worry, entering a Mist Street Blind Spot doesn’t mean immediate danger; there’s a buffer. For us, just experiencing a Flash Appearance is not a big issue. Just make sure the reward for the mission is ready,” Sima Gui said with a smile, unconcerned.
Bathed in the light from the street lamps outside, Li Chengyi saw his carefree smile, one that showed indifference to both himself and others.
It made one’s mind unbiddenly conjure words like “madman” and “lunatic.”
No wonder Pencil Eyebrow had kindly warned him before.
Li Chengyi stayed silent, shifting his gaze away and continuing to look at the profile photo that Xindela had just shared.
After all, the boss had said if this mission was completed, he’d be rewarded with a multi-million Flying Yi, so it would be inappropriate for him not to be diligent about a sum of money that large.
“I’ll call her and touch base,” Song Ran said, tapping on his AR glasses.
The others waited quietly.
Soon, a girl in a black shoulder-baring dress emerged leisurely from the KTV entrance.
With tea-colored curly hair and silver diamond-studded earrings dangling to the length of a finger, she shimmered in the light from a distance.
Her face was the standard big-eyed, high-nosed, small-mouthed internet celebrity look, which, although visually appealing, gave an unrealistic, plasticky impression.
The girl looked left and right, carrying a black bag with a gold chain, and soon spotted the parked Mist Banner SUV and walked over in her high heels.
But before she took many steps, a beautiful woman with a prominent chest emerged from the KTV entrance, caught up with her, and spoke a few words to her.
The girl hesitated before returning with the beautiful woman.
After that, the people inside the car waited, but the girl did not return.
After several messages and a couple of phone calls, Zhong Ying finally responded with a text saying she wanted to leave but had a contract with a loophole, which would cost her a large sum if she left early, and the company’s people were not letting her go.
“Let’s just go and have a look,” Sima Gui lost patience, opening the door to get out.
“I’ll come too,” Li Chengyi felt he was getting paid for this, so he ought to do something to earn his considerable reward. He had to prove his worth to get another chance.
The two men exited the vehicle, one after another, and walked to the entrance of the KTV, entering through its doors.
The lighting in the hall was dim, casting a pale yellow glow that turned people’s skin ghostly white, masking any flaws.
Inside the hall, there were two corridors leading further in.
Sima Gui glanced at Li Chengyi.
“Split up?”
“Okay.”
Li Chengyi had been learning to fight for over two months, and his physique had become a lot stronger than before. His courage had grown considerably too.
“Grab the person and go, don’t dawdle,” Sima Gui said as he took the left corridor, ignoring the approaching waiter who came to inquire.
Li Chengyi chose the right passage, passing by each wailing partition, unsure how to search as he eyed the closed doors.
Should he simply push open each door to check?
Or pretend to look for someone and mistakenly enter a room?
“Sir, are you looking for someone?” A male waiter appeared just in time, asking loudly.
Li Chengyi nodded hastily.
“Yes, I’m looking for Zhong Ying. She works here, doesn’t she?”
“Ah, Zhong Ying, this way, please follow me.” The waiter seemed to recognize her name and led the way with Li Chengyi following.
Together, they followed the corridor, turning left and right until they arrived in front of a makeup room.
Zhong Ying, the Web celebrity-faced girl from before, was speaking loudly and emotionally with two men and a woman.
“When you signed that contract, it was all there in black and white. You were clear on every clause, and you agreed to every term. Now you come to me with trouble? What a joke—we’re a legitimate business here, and breaching the contract means you owe liquidated damages. Go ahead, call the police if you have the guts! Even in court, we would win!”
The one speaking was a slightly chubby blonde woman confronting Zhong Ying, her arms crossed and expression cold, with two muscular men standing behind her, clearly there to back her up.
“But those terms weren’t in the contract when I signed it! That isn’t the same contract we had agreed on!” Zhong Ying argued with indignation.
“There’s your signature, and the court won’t care if you don’t recognize it. It’s you who will be in trouble. Girl, didn’t you read the terms before signing and fingerprinting? Anyway, you’re free to leave today, and you don’t have to work. But if you breach the contract later, the liquidated damages will multiply, and don’t blame me, sis, for not being sympathetic,” the blonde woman said coldly.
“I…!” Zhong Ying was so angry her pretty face turned red, and her chest heaved.
“How much money? I’m a friend of Zhong Ying’s, and I’ll cover it,” Li Chengyi knew this was his cue to act. By stepping in during her time of need, he’d be more likely to gain her trust.
The chubby woman had already noticed Li Chengyi standing there. At his words, her face thawed as she raised an eyebrow.
“Not much, according to the contract she signed. Termination on short notice entails five times the penalty, which is sixty thousand—so five times would be three hundred thousand.”
“How much?” Li Chengyi blinked, thinking he must have misunderstood.
“Three hundred thousand. Credit card or transfer?” the chubby woman asked nonchalantly.
Li Chengyi looked at Zhong Ying, who turned her head away, guilt-ridden.
“Three hundred thousand…”
He exhaled softly and suddenly lunged forward, delivering a slap right on her face.
SLAP!
The crisp sound exploded off the chubby woman’s cheek, making her dizzy and nearly causing her to fall.
Before the other two could react, Li Chengyi stepped forward swiftly, his knee driving hard into the stomach of the man on the right.
Then he swung a fist at the face of the other man.
BANG, BANG —The two men staggered, somewhat stunned but still standing, showing that even with the element of surprise, Li Chengyi’s strength wasn’t enough to knock them down.
But then, there were two more thuds, as Li Chengyi kicked each man in the waist while secretly using his Floral Dress, the hardened scales hitting their sides mercilessly, bending them into bows, unable to rise again.
Li Chengyi took a step back, grabbed the chubby woman’s hair, and smashed her head against the side wall.
BANG.
Blood seeped from the woman’s face as she slid to the ground.
“Alright, no need for three hundred thousand, let’s go,” he said, dusting off his hands and turning to Zhong Ying.
Zhong Ying was dumbstruck, not expecting him to resort to violence. She had only planned to pretend to be harassed with Zhao Jie and two familiar friends to extract some money, as the new boss seemed to be wealthy, and this amount would hardly be missed.
But, she hadn’t anticipated…
“Zhao Jie!? Are you okay!? She screamed, rushing to help the chubby woman off the ground.
“People, come quick, someone’s hurt! There’s bleeding from the head!” She began to yell.
“So it was all a trick to deceive me?” Li Chengyi instantly realized the situation and understood what led to it.
He was about to call the boss immediately, but Sima Gui’s earlier words inexplicably surfaced in his mind.
‘You’re all going to die anyway, so why worry about this and that? Isn’t it tiring? Just do what you want!’
Somehow, Li Chengyi felt as if something loosened within him.
He didn’t bother with words nor contemplating further—he threw a hard punch at Zhong Ying’s face and then kicked her in the stomach.
THUD.
Following a muffled noise, Zhong Ying curled up in pain as he dragged her out by her hair.
“Let’s go,” he said before leaving, grabbing the contract, tearing it into pieces, and stuffing it into his pocket.
Those who attempt fraud should be prepared for the backlash.
