BLOOD MUTANT SYSTEM.-Chapter 438: CH: RENEWED TRANSFORMATION

A quiet atmosphere encompassed the wilderness, turning the violent and harsh biome into a calmer, more peaceful setting.

The brutal Ethisian sun began to set, marking the end of a long day and ushering in the longer hours of the night.

The Blood Beasts that once hunted Enor, his High-Grade soldiers, and the other Blood Mutants rested beside their two masters, hiding their monstrous heads under their beefy, demonic paws.

Eve and Eden leaned on their beasts’ bodies while Jim and Anya stood at a safe distance, both still skeptical about the beasts.

"When Eden and I were still on Earth, we lived normal lives like everyone else and worked ordinary jobs. By then, we were both involved in the fields of human genetics and worked with some of the best research organizations in our region.

"At that time, a team we were a part of began working on projects designed to alter human DNA. Many trials and errors came and went, and we were nowhere close to creating something that could alter an already-existing human’s DNA without having any side effects."

"Before we could finish it, however," Eden intervened, stopping the need for a long exposition, "the majority of us were abducted by the Granians."

’Majority?’ Jim paused and then asked, hoping to ease his curiosity.

"Majority? So more people were abducted?"

For a moment, Eve and Eden remained silent, their heads hung, with their faces showing the discomfort brewing within. Judging by their sudden change in demeanour, Jim and Anya figured that there was a tragic backstory behind their reaction.

"Did something bad happen to them?" Anya asked. Eden lifted his head, and with a heavy tone in his voice, he answered;

"When the Granians first came to Earth, they didn’t bombard with wild attacks and violence. Instead, they came silently, made their presence known to those in high political positions, and forced them to hand over the finest, smartest, and strongest humans they knew of."

"Since we were a part of those working on an allegedly "life-changing" project, we were ambushed by our kind and dropped off at a desolate location.

"Shortly, all a thousand or more of us were taken to an undisclosed location somewhere in the wild and were taken by three Granian ships. We were contained, studied, and then experimented on until about one hundred Blood Mutant soldiers were made."

"What happened to the others?" Jim asked, already guessing what Eden’s answer would be.

"Well, it’s obvious," Eve answered, "the majority died before they could make it to Akrina. The Granians had never conducted such a procedure on humans before, so there were unfortunate souls who didn’t survive. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Some died on the ship, others died as soon as they landed. The further we advanced into Akrina, the more of us died. Eventually, about twenty of us were fit to fight, but when we encountered other alien species in Akrina, the majority committed suicide, and the others died in war."

"Eve and I," Eden continued, "were two of the surviving five who...survived. The other three escaped and weren’t heard of. A few thousand lived, but they were no better than wild beasts, so they too died quickly.

"Eventually, the Granians continued to train and tame us until we became unstoppable, powerful killing machines. Our strength was something they couldn’t control forever, so they intensified their brainwashing methods while inserting a fail-safe in us."

"What’s that fail-safe?" Anya asked. Eden and Eve turned around and lifted their shirts, showing their scar-covered backs. One scar type that they both shared was a round, star-shaped scar found at the base of their spines.

"We don’t exactly know what it was that they put in us, but it was designed to kill us in case we ever turned on them. It was the Ethisians who removed it from our bodies once they discovered it. It was also the one tool that made it easier for us to be tamed. We’re surprised you two don’t have it. Seems the Granians improved their brainwashing methods."

The sun set over the horizon of the harsh, wild biome.

Warm, somewhat gentle breezes blew through the barren land, lifting dust, debris, and dead life a few feet off the air.

The stars in the night sky twinkled, beautifying the several moons orbiting the planet.

Eve and Eden, the Ethisian Blood Mutants, and their new allies, Jim and Anya, conducted yet another "ritual of sorts", one that was going to turn the other two back into Blood Mutants.

At the same time, Enor returned with a small fleet of battle ships, each carrying about one thousand Ethisian soldiers. His reason for being there was simple: take the humans back into the war as quickly as possible while the Granians are still wounded.

Since the Granian Race pulled back into their half of Akrina, and since they also took two of their Blood Mutants, the Ethisians saw it fit to strike now. And they were going to do so with the help of the newest addition to their army.

"Brace yourselves once more," Eden and Eve warned, both standing over Jim and Anya with cut, bloody palms hovering over their heads, "this is going to hurt more than the last procedure."

Just as Eden promised, the procedure did hurt.

From both their hands shot sharp tendrils of crimson glowing blood, each tendril piercing their head holes, eyes, and skin.

Immediately, the two humans screamed, both barely handling the agonising pain surging across their bodies.

As the tendrils pierced deeper into their bodies, blood pumped into their veins and arteries until they expanded and popped. The sight, so cruel and gruesome, disgusted some of the Ethisians and made many look away. Only a few, like Enor, watched with amazement in their eyes.

With his hands pushing the tendrils deeper into Jim’s face, Enor declared, "Endure a bit longer."

Blood continued to spill from their bodies until a puddle formed underneath them. Then, like metal shavings to a magnet, the blood clung and crept all over their bodies until they were nothing but blood red silhouettes of their former selves.

Once that happened, the tendrils were removed, their wounds healed, and both Eden and Eve stepped back while the blood dissolved back into Jim and Anya.

With a pleased look, Eden looked at Enor and declared, "Welcome your new addition to the Ethisian army."
