’Interesting.’

While his Granian sibling clones and Blood Mutants contended with each other, Lord Gravax and his clones—that were made in his image—observed the screens and the four subjects intently.

Like higher lifeforms studying lesser ones, Gravax and his clones studied the Human and Granian siblings together, with their interest mainly falling on the sibling clones.

Their movements, fight styles, patterns, attacks, offensive and defensive decisions, and abilities to think and respond quickly in mid-battle were all carefully gauged, while computer screens and monitors tracked their vital signs.

’They’re still too inexperienced to be left alone in battle,’ Gravax thought, his eyes following the sibling clones as they desperately tried to cause Ace and Cherry serious damage. ’The only reason they’ve landed hits on the Blood Mutants is because of sudden attacks. Soon, the humans will read through their moves and...’

’...kill them with ease.’

Granian Ace’s body fell to its knees and then to the ground as blood poured from its severed neck. Its head was brutally sliced from the rest of its body and tossed on the ground, discarded like trash.

Ace had purposely severed its head from its body to test the limits of its regenerative abilities. If its head were removed, would its body grow a new one? Would the severed head grow a new body? Or would both the severed head and body regenerate separately and create two clones?

There was only one way to find out, and sure enough, Ace got his answer.

The base of the severed head began to bubble and writhe like a nest of worms, while the rest of the clone’s body stumbled back to its feet. The writhing mass morphed into tiny, worm-like extensions that eventually stretched into long strands of veins, muscle tissue, and fibres. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

In less than a second, the head snapped back toward the body like metal to a magnet. The clone’s discoloured, lifeless eyes regained their vibrant, reptilian glow, but that wasn’t all.

On the sides of Granian Ace’s head grew two little stubs, almost like swellings under its orange hair. They weren’t noticeable from a distance—only the Blood Prince picked up on them. Still, he didn’t dwell on it...not yet.

While Ace and Granian Ace moved into their fourth round, Cherry and her eight Blood Clones overwhelmed Granian Cherry.

Moving faster than the clone could track, the Blood Clones jabbed, stabbed, pierced, and sliced its body relentlessly, while Cherry delivered heavier, more decisive blows. The clone tried to cut the Blood Clones apart, but her efforts were all in vain. It even tried to override the Blood Clones by controlling them, but it still failed.

Eventually, the clone started to adapt to its situation quickly.

Standing on its feet, it closed its eyes and allowed the Blood Clones to pierce its body with their weapons, until...

A tendril shot out from its body and pierced through one Blood Clone’s chest. Then another followed. And another. And another. Soon, three Blood Clones were impaled and immobilized. Then, their bodies melted and fused into the Granian clone’s tendrils, feeding them and increasing their size, girth, and length.

Granian Cherry’s tendrils writhed like those of an octopus as the remaining five clones—and Cherry—surrounded it.

"It can absorb blood, huh?" Cherry said, impressed by this discovery she had just witnessed. "Even I didn’t know we could do that. Seems I should try the same when the time comes."

Granian Cherry’s tendrils lashed out toward Cherry’s Blood Clones, pursuing each one with a relentless lust and desire to absorb them into its body. The Blood Clones, under Cherry’s control, dodged the tendrils and even managed to sever a few, but that wasn’t enough to stop the Granian clone.

Eventually, two more clones were impaled and absorbed, leaving only three clones standing. At the same time, Granian Cherry’s tendrils doubled in number and increased in size, length, and girth, giving her more appendages to work with.

"Well, if that’s how you want to settle it..."

Cherry dismissed the blood suit she had on and retracted the last three Blood Clones. Then, just for the fun of it, she grew tendrils from her back, matching the clone’s in size, length, and thickness.

"...let’s settle it. Bring it on, clone."

Cherry was starting to have fun with her Granian counterpart. She didn’t hate it like her brother, nor did she despise it for its origin or appearance.

The Crimson Knight started to see the clone as a training tool, an organic opponent she could fight with without holding back, without fear of killing it accidentally or injuring it detrimentally. Its regenerative factor and blood abilities were also another aspect that made her like the clone and start having fun instead of treating it like a hostile threat.

*BAM*

Cherry and Granian Cherry hurled blood spikes at one another, parrying and dodging the attacks thrown at them with precision. As the distance between them closed, the Granian clone launched its body into the air and spun speedily.

It extended its tendrils forward in a cone-shape, fusing the tips into a hardened spike of blood.

As it descended, Cherry responded in kind by extending her tendrils forward and colliding with the clone’s attack. The force of their collision was violent but uneven—one carried more force than the other.

*SHATTER*

Cherry’s tendrils tore straight through the Granian clone’s with great ease. Maintaining the same momentum, the two continued colliding with each other, with the clone quickly losing its defences mid-air. The very tendrils it formed to protect its body broke apart, leaving it defenceless and exposed. Cherry’s tendrils pierced through its body, starting from its head.

The result?

An almost perfectly bisected Granian clone falling to the barren ground, its blood spilling and soaking into the soil below. Another result was a pleased Crimson Knight who landed with a bit of blood on her face and upper body and a wide, satisfied smile forming on her face.

"This was fun," she said, watching as the clone began to regenerate. Just like its "brother", the clone came back to life with two small stubs forming on the sides of its head underneath its hair.
