Breeding System:My Five Beast Husbands Want Heirs-Chapter 9: Tasting him
Pain. It shot through Mira like lightning forcing her into consciousness. "Don’t kill me!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. "I am innocent! I swear. Please don’t kill me!" Her lungs hurt. She inhaled too much smoke yet she screamed, fear consuming her.
Hands. Abled hands grabbed onto her body, pinning her down.
"Please! I didn’t harm Marr." She cried.
"The demon female is awake! Quickly, feed it to her!" Echoed in the background. Strong fingers held her cheeks and pinched, forcing her mouth open.
Did. . . They want to feed her poison? Mira wanted to scream but a bitter liquid slid down her throat. It took a few seconds for it to circulate, dulling her insides. Her body came into an arrant halt.
"Her body is stable now." Slid in her ears followed by a sigh.
"At least she’s awake. That’s good." Came after.
Her eyes slowly drifted apart, soaking in her environment bit by bit. The numerous figures parading before her suddenly conjoined into three women staring down at her.
Mira felt weak, her body throbbing with immense pain, yet unlike before, it was tame. She was breathing steadily without the stinging ache in her lungs, just she could not move.
"Are you going to kill me?" Left her lips. Her voice was weak. The event before her fainting flashed into her head.
"You all can leave." Shot through the room. The voice belonged to a male. Jia Hao.
The ladies left. Jia Hao came next to her. She could not move but saw him. A tear slid down the side of her face. "Are you going to kill me?"
Jia Hao looked guilty, his jaw clenched. He did not answer.
"How’s Marr?"
"He’s conscious." He muttered. His voice was calm.
"That’s good." Mira whispered. "At least he’s safe."
Silence. It was pungent in the room that she heard her own stale breathing.
"How do you feel?" Jia Hao broke the silence.
"Barely alive." She panted, her voice low. "I can’t move."
Another silence shot through. It was getting uncomfortable. The timer on Mira’s head was beeping red, telling her she had less than two days. "Where am I?"
"In the pride land’s medical sanctuary." Jia Hao uttered.
"I thought you banished me." She managed to say. Something wet slid over her skin. It was warm and soothing. Jia Hao was cleaning her with something soft. While his touch was gentle, it pricked. He was being strangely careful.
"I did." The soft thing became wet again and rested on her body. The warmth gave her a well needed relief.
"Are you going to kill me, Jia Hao? I swear, I did nothing to Marr, I was only trying to save him. I would’ve never done anything to put him in danger, I-"
"I know." He worded, cutting her short. "I’m sorry I didn’t believe you." His hand rested on her shoulder, right on the sore he bit. "I’m so sorry for. . . ." His words hooked in his throat at the sight of his mark on her skin. He was so angry he did not care what he did to her. Back there, all that ran through his head was to punish the person who did this and everything pointed at her. Now because of him, she almost died. One second too late would’ve been all it took for her to be gone. And a slight shift of his head in the worst direction would’ve killed her faster than that throw. ". . .hurting you, Mira. I’m so sorry." Jia Hao’s voice broke. Mira noticed. If she was not a complete incapable potato, she would’ve sat.
"It’s okay. It’s not your fault, my king. Anyone would assume wrongly in that situation." Mira said.
Back there, he had a hunch it was her but desperately wanted it not to be. Then he saw Marr. . . And he saw her.
"Please forgive me." Jia Hao pleaded. "If you don’t want me as your husband, I would understand. But please, I am so sorry."
Don’t want you? Bitch, that timer counting my days is no judge of character. You’re either in me or I’m dead and I prefer not to be dead! Mira thought.
"It’s okay." She whispered. "I’m not angry. You did the right thing."
[Lion King Jia Hao’s compassion level for host is at 100%.
Trust level is 50% and affection level is 50%. Good job host! You’re ready to mate!]
Yeah. . . All it took was me almost dying to not die.
"I almost killed you!" Jia Hao growled. He sounded so devastated that it broke Mira’s heart. The original Mira treated him like shit countless times even to the point of death without remorse yet here he was in despair by nearly ending her life.
"If I could move, I would give you a hug."
Her body lunged up, gently this time, into Jia Hao’s arms. His hold on her was possessive yet tender like she was some delicate ceramic. "I guess this works." Mira joked, her body falling right into his chest. His body felt just as perfect as it looked. She could rest on them all day long.
In fact, if she died now, she would have no regrets. Jia Hao’s hold on her tightened. She squeaked. That thought was just a thought, okay universe? I did not mean that literally!!
System giggled.
"I can’t breathe." She whimpered.
Jia Hao let his hands loose, folded something behind which served as a pillow and layied her down carefully. It was now Mira realised that all those times he handled her roughly, he did it on purpose.
"Have some rest. The healers will attend to you soon." He stood.
"Are you leaving?"
Jia Hao paused to look at her, his gaze soft. "Not for long. You won’t even notice that I was gone." This made the ends of Mira’s lips curl.
Oh, she was DEFINITELY getting laid. Who knew having a lioness with nothing but detest for her paid off? Speaking of lionesses. . .
"Where is Patricia?" Mira swallowed.
Jia Hao’s gaze hardened, his jaw clenching. His wrath was consuming as he spat. "In a place she would not be able to harm you or anyone else ever again."
Mira did not even dare to ask. It sure sucked to be Patricia. Jia Hao sat back down and slid a gentle finger over Mira’s face, stroking lightly. His body fell forward and his face was so close to hers that she felt his breath ravage her neck. His lips brushed hers. Mira’s eyes shut as her heart hammered in her chest.
This was it. Her first actual intimate moment with him. A hand slid beneath her head, pulling her closer to him. She parted her lips slightly, ready to taste him.
