Chapter 548: 302 Seriously talking nonsense

The deeply affectionate man, you could even feel it from the steps Joshua Hughes took when leaving.

It was as if his soles were on fire...

Atlas Hallow gave a faint smile; he really wasn’t a romantic person.

He had always seen mountains as mountains, the sea as the sea, flowers as flowers, but only with Charlotte Miller did it feel as if clouds and tides began to surge. She need not say a word, and everything in heaven and earth rushed towards this woman who cleared his mind of any distractions.

Both are love, but they are not the same.

His love was like a vast ocean, allowing Charlotte to freely roam within it, without restraint or pressure.

Joshua’s love, however, was like a fire, burning everything to ashes, possibly even himself.

"Don’t worry, Big Head George is bound to die, and it won’t be a pretty death." Atlas Hallow said quietly, watching the car drive away in the distance.

You could tell Tiger George’s son was quite capable, but he was indeed still a bit too young and impatient.

"Sorry for letting you witness this, Young Master Hallow." Edward Parker’s voice was a bit depressed. This blow was too overwhelming for him; if it weren’t for his father’s eagerness to clear the way for his succession, none of this would have happened.

It’s really nothing to laugh about, after all, he was also here in Las Vegas for his father’s revenge.

"How did the Mexicans get involved in this?" Atlas Hallow knew the amount of hot money flowing into the Hallow Clan was too huge, so it couldn’t just be sourced from Big Head George’s bank.

But he never expected, not in a million years, that the Mexican money would also get entangled, making it seem quite tricky.

Those people, like leeches, wouldn’t stop sucking the Hallow Clan dry until satisfied.

What mindset did Flix Hallow have to bring in Big Head George and the Mexicans with him? Didn’t he know how hard it would be to break free?

Only now did Atlas realize why Luna Miller had three fingers cut off.

It was Flix Hallow testing his reaction. Flix had been watching his every move, even knowing everything about Charlotte Miller’s family.

Luna was just unlucky, unwittingly walking onto Big Head George’s turf, tricked into having a few cards slipped into her clothes, leading to the dealer letting her companion win, pinning the blame on her and cutting three fingers as per the rules.

The other possibility was to lure him to Las Vegas, because if Charlotte was coming, he would surely follow.

Thinking of this made him feel the taste of conspiracy spreading around him.

So, why lure him to Las Vegas?

Perhaps the sudden appearance of Joshua Hughes triggered those past affairs in Las Vegas, making Big Head George so afraid that he wanted to kill him off quickly.

Was the plot to kill George Parker originally set for him?

Everything was possible; since this time it didn’t fall on him, there must be more waiting for him.

Thinking about that, he began to worry. If it were just him, it wouldn’t matter.

But now there was Charlotte, and when a man has someone he loves, he really does have a weakness, no longer invincible.

When he returned to the hotel, Charlotte was sitting on the sofa, talking on the phone with her mother.

"Yes, Mommy, Mia will be there soon. Make sure the water is warm when you bathe her; the plane’s air conditioning was too cold, and I’m worried she might catch a chill. How about Luna, how is she today?" Charlotte’s voice was gentle and even, her face always gently glowing when talking about family matters.

Hearing her mother say Luna was much more stable and recovering, Charlotte’s mind eased a little.

Perhaps Luna had gone through the worst, so her emotions wouldn’t be as intense anymore and less prone to breakdowns, yet she was surely in a bad mood, which made Charlotte’s heart ache once again.

"How’s Luna doing?" Atlas sat next to Charlotte, asking softly.

Charlotte put down the phone, hugging her bent legs with her chin resting on her knees, mumbling softly, "Though on the surface she seems fine, inside she’s surely not feeling well."

Being forcibly cut off three fingers on the spot, what a humiliation it was for a woman. The thought of it made Charlotte extremely uncomfortable.

In the past, Luna made many mistakes; in the end, she was so angry she thought someone should teach Luna a lesson, let her suffer a bit so she wouldn’t lose out in life and learn from her mistakes.

But Luna has long since changed, though her temper wasn’t the best, she loved Mia dearly, loving her as if she were her own blood; after enduring such humiliation, Charlotte had to find a way to make it right for Luna.

"Let me handle this for her, as a token for caring for Mia all these years." Atlas picked Charlotte up, letting her sit on his lap, absorbing her faint scent as if it could push away all troubling things afar.

"She never needed anything in return for loving Mia." Charlotte leaned her head on Atlas’s shoulder, speaking in a low voice with a hint of displeasure.

The word ’return’ seemed to sullied Luna’s pure affection for Mia.

Ever since Mia was brought home, Luna seemed to have changed; in fact, she spent more time with Mia sometimes than Charlotte did.

That kind of love grew from the heart, taking root and blossoming.

She almost blurted out what Luna had done for Mia, but in the end, she held back.

Luna would definitely not want her deeds known to Atlas.

"I know, I know..." Atlas lightly kissed Charlotte on the shoulder, his magnetic voice filled with forgiving affection.

"You don’t know, you don’t know how much she loves Mia." Charlotte’s eyes reddened; she really wished Luna could find someone she liked, perhaps it was the loneliness making her love Mia so much.

Atlas continued to smile, letting her say whatever she wanted.

"What’s this?" Atlas threw his jacket on the sofa, and a small card fell out of his pocket.

A name was embossed in gold, a woman’s name, and a phone number.

Charlotte found several identical cards, only with different names and phone numbers.

"They’re from those bunny girls at the casino, you saw them that day, didn’t you?" Amongst everything, he hadn’t even changed his jacket, and these cards fell out. Atlas quickly explained.

"Couldn’t bear to throw them away? Or are you quite used to this by now?" Charlotte played with the cards in her hand, her words carrying a teasing edge, each card bearing an enticing name.

"I’m not interested in those, don’t you know whom I’m interested in?" It happened at George Parker’s casino; of course, he showed some courtesy to George. But afterward, he genuinely forgot to discard them.

"It seems someone like you really attracts those women." After tossing away the cards in her hand, Charlotte tugged on Atlas’s shirt, playfully continuing.

"A beautiful woman, having to sell herself out of necessity, then sitting on the bed crying after earning a big pile of money, why do you think that is?" Charlotte couldn’t resist teasing Atlas; she guessed Atlas, to prove his integrity, still had that old-fashioned demeanor, acting very seriously.

"She probably felt it was too painful." Atlas looked at Charlotte, answering seriously, as if he never had wild days; it was comically straightforward nonsense.

"Exactly." Charlotte laughed, recalling a short joke she had seen, which indeed accurately described the women in casinos.

If Atlas did arrange to meet them, the kind of women fishing for men in the hum of gambling, after a blissful night with Atlas, would certainly not cry from misery upon receiving money. They’d think, how comfortable and lucrative, why aren’t there more men like this?

Charlotte momentarily criticized her wicked thoughts, but if she had to choose a man for such things, Atlas would undoubtedly be the best choice.

"What’s on your mind, face all red?" Atlas pulled Charlotte closer, seeing the pale blush on her cheeks, itching with desire.

The scent of her made losing control inevitable, just like now, wanting to devour her entirely.

"I was thinking, if I were one of those casino bunny girls, would I try to slip you a card? Would you really have no interest at all, as you just said?" Charlotte’s fair fingers fleetingly brushed over Atlas’s chest, making the air turn incredibly sultry...
