Broken Bond: Claimed by My Ex-Husband's Alpha Billionaire Uncle-Chapter 146: A Life for a Life
Julian bared his teeth, his wolf eyes glowing with cruelty. "A Luna?" he scoffed. "Do you really think that title will save you?"
He knew that was Charlotte’s new title, but he had never once thought a Luna mattered. His own father had never treated his wife—the Luna of their pack—with respect.
Because of that, in Julian’s mind, a Luna was nothing more than a beautiful trophy. Something that existed in the pack only as decoration.
But what he didn’t understand was this: That Luna had only seemed weak because the bond between her and the Alpha had been fragile and cold.
Meanwhile, in Charlotte and Damon’s case, their bond had grown stronger than ever.
They hadn’t lived together for long, but they had already learned to care for one another deeply, enough that Charlotte had slowly begun to heal from all the scars in her heart.
To Charlotte, Damon was the sun, the light that guided her out of the darkness that once swallowed her whole.
And for Damon, Charlotte was like the gentle moon, the one who soothed his heart.
Julian still didn’t get it.
To him, strength only came from fear, control, and power. He had never known love, so he couldn’t understand why Charlotte now stood taller than ever, even in her very first shift, and that kind of terrified him.
Julian made the first move. He leapt toward Charlotte, baring his fangs and claws. He wanted nothing more than to hurt her.
But before he could reach her, Charlotte moved fast, almost like the wind. She jumped from one spot to another, darting around him and leaving Julian confused in the middle of the sinking ship.
Water surged across the floor, tilting the ship even further, but Charlotte moved as if the chaos didn’t matter. Her paws were light, her steps were sure. She had never fought like this before, and yet her body seemed to know exactly what to do.
Maybe it was because she had finally become one with Damon, and her wolf was now fully linked to his. Through their bond, Damon’s wolf could share his fighting instinct with her, guiding her every move.
Every step, every turn, every strike flowed through her as naturally as breathing. Damon’s instincts blended with her own, shaping her movements but never controlling them.
Julian growled, anger twisting into fear. He lunged again, claws slashing toward her throat, but Charlotte ducked under him and struck his ribs with brutal force. The impact sent him crashing into the side of the ship, wood splintering beneath his weight.
He scrambled back to his feet, panting.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to be, and she wasn’t supposed to overpower him.
She was supposed to be beneath him. Just like always.
"Julian," Charlotte spoke directly into his mind. Her voice sounded colder than usual, most likely because it had merged with her wolf. "You once took the life of my child, and I still haven’t forgiven you. A life must be repaid with a life."
Julian froze.
For a moment, the sound of crashing waves and groaning metal faded away. All he could hear was her voice inside his head.
For the first time in his life, he was finally afraid of Charlotte, the woman who had once been nothing more than his plaything. Even so, he would never admit his fear.
"You were weak," he snarled back through the mind-link. "You lost because you were too fragile. That child—"
He wasn’t able to finish his words, because Charlotte had already rushed toward him. She moved even faster than the wind, and Julian didn’t even have time to react before she slammed into him with terrifying force.
The impact sent Julian crashing to the floor. Before he could recover, Charlotte was already on him. Her claws tore into his fur and flesh, fueled by every memory he had carved into her heart.
He howled in pain, but she didn’t want to stop.
She slashed him again and again. Her fangs tore through his muscles and bones, while her claws dug into his chest, pinning him in place so he couldn’t move at all. Years of fear, grief, and anger poured out of her with every strike. Julian struggled beneath her, snarling and thrashing, but she was relentless.
This was the monster who had broken her.
This was the man who had taken her child.
And now, he would pay for every terrible thing he had done to her.
Charlotte’s wolf pressed down harder, her growl echoing through the drowning ship. Julian’s strength began to fade. His movements slowed. Panic filled his eyes as he realized he was losing to the woman he once believed would always kneel beneath him.
He tried to pull free, he tried to run, but Charlotte didn’t let him, just like Julian had never allowed her to escape from his abuse.
Water rushed around them. The ship groaned and tilted even further, but Charlotte didn’t move from her place. She kept him pinned, refusing to release the nightmare that had haunted her life.
Not long after that, Julian finally managed to twist away, tearing himself free from her claws. Blood poured from his wounds.
He tried to run as fast as he could, but he never got far because Damon was already waiting for him in the shadows ahead.
Damon’s wolf form stood proudly before him, twice as large as Julian. His sharp eyes locked onto him, and he spoke through the mind-link, "Did you really think Charlotte would let you escape?"
Julian’s instincts screamed at him to run, but there was nowhere left to go.
Behind him was the Luna he had broken, and in front of him stood the Alpha who would never let him hurt her again.
Damon stepped forward, his massive paws splashing through the rising water. His eyes were cold, filled with rage.
Julian bared his teeth, desperation twisting inside him. "She was weak!" he snapped back. "She always—"
Damon moved before he could finish.
In one swift blur of motion, he lunged. His jaws closed around Julian’s throat with crushing force. There was no hesitation, and no doubt.
Damon showed him no mercy, and at last he did what he had always wanted to do: he tore Julian’s head from his body.
