Chapter 101: Grand Heist-3

*CLACK!

*CLACK!

"Huh?" The attention of the knights on guard, was drawn to the incoming sounds of heavy hooves.

Emerging from nowhere, they watched as two panting steads grudgingly went past the building. Dragging a carriage behind, seeming to have been through hell and back. Slowly, the carriage came to a stop, right before the iron gates.

Waiting for a minute or two, after noticing no movement they glanced at each other through their helms. As the next moment, they were clutching their spears and heading towards the unknown vehicle.

A few meters away, though their spearheads were near the door, keeping a good distance. They could see the horses sitting on the ground, still panting and whinnying. Ignoring them, they were about taking another step forward when—

*BAM!

The knights immediately backed away, how far, they themselves couldn’t tell, though it was enough to see an arrow coming.

"Ouch, where am l?" A voice came from within.

"On my face!" Another came with the words barely being heard.

"Oh, so sorry?"

"Ugh, when did I go out again?"

"Again?"

"Gosh, I can’t feel my head, where’s it?!"

The knights took step back, adding another one before looking at each other. "They sound human."

"Huh, hey aren’t? What are they then?"

"We need to check it out."

"No, you got to be kidding— I’m not dying on my first day!"

"It’s also mine you know."

The conversing within the carriage had stopped, yet none of them seemed to notice it and someone could tell.

"Thelma? Is something wrong?" Alvin whispered, failing to draw the other’s attention. Of course, they knew for whatever reason it was, her hearing matched or possibly surpassed an adult’s.

"Of course something’s up." Timtin stated in a low voice.

"Argh, we’ve stopped moving right?" His voice drew the attention of one of the two.

"How? How are you even here?" Alvin questioned, finally noticing him.

"Wish I could ask the same thing."

"Eh?"

"Shssh–quiet!" Thelma said, her ears still glued to the doors when—

*CLICK!

The knights outside stopped talking and looked at the carriage. While back in it, Thelma’s sapphires met a pair of glass, her lips mumbling something incoherent right before the doors flew open.

*THUD!

Rooted to their spot, the duo stared as a figure dropped onto the concrete, yet began to rise up the next second as if nothing had happened.

"Mon...Mon...Mon—"

"My lady!" A masculine voice came from within alongside a fully armoured figure.

"Eh?"

"Huh?" The confusion written all over their faces, suddenly turned into utter shock.

"Sorry..." Recovering from the floor, Thelma felt a cold hand grab her to help her up. Glancing at the figure, she could spot the glasses which confirmed the voice. Hitting his hand away in annoyance, though she seemed to have taken any form of damage.

*CLANK!

Following the sudden sound, Thelma froze upon looking forward, a smile creeping up her face.

"We welcome, Your Imperial Highness to the Baxton Bank."

Somewhere in the Empire Of Mumain, a large palace could be seen and within one of it’s study rooms, a knock was heard.

"Come in." Seated in a comfy armchair, a masculine figure ordered, as soon an older man stepped in.

"My Lady, Your Imperial Highness. A report was just received." The man informed, his head down as he spoke.

"Mmhm, who’s it from?" Sitting up from the couch at the side of the room, a blonde haired woman with a pair of purple eyes approached him.

Ignoring the fact that she now stood before him with an outstretched hand, he glanced at the other behind her, before speaking.

"It’s about the fourth one."

"Eh? The fourth— oh, great. Don’t want anything to do with that snake."

"That snake, is your future sister-in-law and the bearer." His pair of sapphires shifted to the parchment dropped onto the table.

"Gosh, I hate that kid."

"I wonder what she’s been up to." Grabbing it, he rolled it open to read it’s contents.

"What? She’s been that busy?" Her voice came, after a long moment of silence.

"Well, I didn’t know she’d hate you that much."

"What? What do you mean by that?" Springing up from the couch, she headed towards him in her fitting red gown.

"She robbed our armoury in Giza, stole two guard armours and as if that’s not enough— since she never does enough. It looks like I’ll be owing your father enough gold to fill a bank."

"Fill a, wait no, no, no— she can’t touch the Bank, father wouldn’t let that slide."

"Are you saying Lord Baxton would dare to touch a hair on her head?" Almost in an instant, she felt his pair of sapphires burn straight through her very soul.

"No, no, he— he— he wouldn’t dare but–but accepting a bunch of kids robbing a bank is too much for his ego."

For a minute or two there was total silence before his voice was heard.

"You’re right. Haa, I hate when I have to clean up all her mess, ugh. Godin!" He called out, his hand going to rub his forehead.

"Your Imperial Highness." A fully armoured knight stepped in, his aura quite suppressing despite the quality of armour wore.

"Prepare a small company, we ride to Giza at once."

"Yes, Your Imperial Highness."

"And Godin, get a carriage too— two would do." With a brief nod, the knight was out with the door shutting behind him.

"Two, my love? You won’t sit with me? I can ride too you know."

"Huh? No, it’s not what you’re thinking. Do you want to be in the same carriage with Thelma?"

"AHHH! NEVER!"

"Gosh, you didn’t have to shout."

"Oops, sorry my love."

"Ugh, I just hope this drama ended today of all days."

°°°

*CLANK!

*CLANK!

"My sincerest apologies for not preparing welcome you, Your Imperial Highness." An old figure with a foxy smile bowed with the knights following behind.

"Hm." Thelma voiced, glaring down at the bowing figure as with a wave, they stood upright.

"I was glad to hear of your arrival to our prestigious bank."

"Hm."

"And ah well, since there currently isn’t any noble around, I the manager would be your very personal guide, Your Imperial Highness."

"Hmm, I don’t mind much." Thelma voiced, her tone soft and gentle until her pair of sapphires.

"Well um, I’ll lead the way." The old man turned to slowly take the lead while one of the knights behind her, gestured to her.

"My Lady." Thelma was about stepping forward when she suddenly froze, just like those going before her.

Glancing between the two, Timtin could feel the temperature in the armour slowly rising. ’Um, did I— did I say something wrong here?’
