Building My Guild With A Blank Scroll-Chapter 51: Mansion Cottage–3
Chapter 51: Mansion Cottage–3
"Alicia, tell me more about these two guilds, the Thorns and Ferns," Vans stated, seated on the bed with his gaze on her.
"Well, th—"
"Husband, a word, please?" Mia suddenly turned and said, smiling at the young gray-haired girl before she stood up. Not awaiting his consent, she walked towards him with their eyes glued on each other.
’What’s she up to.’ He thought, hating when her confidence arose from slumber, overwhelming him instantly.
Alicia on the other hand glanced at the figure unconscious figure lying atop the bed opposite them, before returning her attention to Karen’s body— her hand brushing through her hair.
Mia joined Vans on the bed and now sat on him at his midsection. Looking at his wife who now had her alluring smile on her face, he could only wonder just what was going on in that brilliant mind of hers.
"Do you want to traumatize the kid?" Vans finally managed to say, his voice audible enough to her hearing. Just then her expression dissolved, rolling her eyes as she spoke. "Of all people to say that— you. Unbelievable."
"Me? What do you —"
"Ssshhsss, you’ll draw the little one’s attention." She placed a finger on his lips. Her hips moved against him, his expression unchanging. "I’m not allowing you to use another child as bait?"
"Bai– bait? That was a one-time something back then, you can’t still be mad at it." Vans protested. "One time huh? That was our only son."
"But you suggested it because you didn’t want me around Kyra, Jaisal didn’t have to draw their attention. You said his looks would work and it did." He added to his case, just to realize how much he’d added more to the blazing fire.
For a moment Mia didn’t say a word, looking at her staring eyes. ’Did I say something wrong?’ He thought, as the uneasiness grew, his heart beating faster than normal.
"You even remember her name after all these years." Mia’s voice was cold, too cold that he felt a chill run down his spine, gulping hard.
"No, Mi– Mia. Wait wait, I can explain."
"Alicia, could you please go get us something to eat sweetheart." She looked back and said with cheer, a warm smile up her face.
"There’s some apples and pies, I think mother added r— oh." She noticed the two, her face emotionless unlike someone at the same age would naturally have. "Excuse me please." She dashed out of the room with a skip.
"There goes our informant now, happy," Vans commented, looking away from her face. "Why bother when you could ask someone in the guild."
He turned to the right, his eyes on Tham as a thought ran through his mind. ’Why did I save him? Was it pity?’

*CLANK!
*CLANK!
*CLANK!
With the surface of his blade, he blocked and deflected the projectiles away— the sword glowing silver along with his eyes.
"I have to get closer!" Vans gritted his teeth, the fog a hindrance to him as he couldn’t pinpoint the exact location of the enemy. He’d kept moving forward and in the direction, the golden auraed arrows came from, however, he hadn’t gotten to him yet.
’How did he widen the distance so fast, we clashed minutes ago. Mia isn’t that fast with a golden aura.’
*SWOOSH!
He stepped to the side, the projectile and continuing in that process, running as fast as he could.
"...Run!!!"
"Huh?" Vans’s attention was drawn.
’Someone is close by, it’s one of them.’
"Alden? Arch and Tham are still out there. Don’t fire recklessly, you could hit them." A bald-headed figure cautioned, standing beside the other with also in beast skin armour with a large flaming gold bow.
"I won’t hit them, trust in Tham to be safe– unless he finds them first," Alden assured, his last few words a mumble under his breath.
’Ugh, where’s he already?’ Beads of sweat formed up in his temple as he kept firing in different directions, having seemingly lost the target.
’Wait, he moved there?’ Finally noticing the target appearing where he’d been firing all this while. Alden reached into the quiver slung at his back only to notice he was almost out of arrows.
’Five! This should do.’ Believing in his skills, he nocked one of the arrows and let it fly. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
*SWOOSH!
’I’m close.’
*THUNK!
*CRACK!
He heard something crack, a bone, not him but from where he was heading — causing him to halt in his tracks.
"Is Alden out of his mind!!"
The words snapped him out of his daze, getting him back on the move towards them. ’They’re being attacked? ’
’Damn it, I didn’t get him. Two tries more.’ Gritting his teeth, he nocked the arrow, drew the bowstring and sent it flying in the fog.
*SWOOSH!
*THUNK!
’It’s them!’ Vans was now close enough to see them, one having his hands up to stop the beast which was about toppling. When suddenly, the dark-haired jumped to shield the other instead.
*THUD!
Simply watching from meters away, the black beast dropped on them with a heavy thud. As dust rose into the air, what he could see confirmed his thoughts earlier— arrows sticking out of its side.
Walking towards the beast, the two underneath and unable to be seen, he shifted his head to the side as he approached it. An arrow flew past, managing to graze his left ear. Vans now stood beside the beast, looking right down on it.
Digging the sword into the ground, the energy around it dissipating, he crouched with his hands gradually bulging. Manipulating enough spiritual energy into both arms with some at his feet, he grabbed the beast. Gritting his teeth hard, Vans began to raise it up with the sheer weight slowly being overcome. "Aaaahhh!!"
*WHOOSH!
*THUD!
The beast fell a distance away, uncovering the two underneath as they were in a miserable state. He could tell they were unconscious but he was wrong, as one began to move.
Shockingly it was the one on top, for despite how bloodied he was all over, most damage wasn’t done to him like the one he’d saved.
Finally managing to stand up, he noticed him and stared straight at Vans, his jaw moving as he was about to speak. He raised his hands at him taking a step forward, the words coming out.
"Y– you sa—"
*SWOOSH!
*CRACK!
Vans’s eyes widened, two arrows being seen approaching. He could see it one right in the figure before him, penetrating through his skull and out. Startled himself, Vans watched as he managed to take another step forward before dropping dead.
He didn’t know why, but he could feel something wet on his body, instinctively placing his hands on it. Vans could feel something foreign at his side, looking down just to see the arrow had got him. He was losing blood fast, the flame around his eyes dissipating.
Reaching behind for another arrow, he touched nothing. ’I’m out?’ Alden thought, yet something about his target caught his eye.
’The glow, it’s disappearing?’ The silver aura he could see with his keen eyesight dimmed.
"Yes! We got him!" He exclaimed, celebrating his victory unlike the other beside him.
"What about the others?" Mo-an asked, the worry evident in his voice.
"Don’t worry brother, it will be difficult to find them in the fog. Let’s wait in a distance— I trust Tham to pop out anytime soon."
"Good then, let’s wait."
*********
"Hey, eyes back on me?" Vans turned to look up at his wife’s face.
"Now you have some explaining to be doing about that Kyra, you’ve been meeting up with her right?."
’Meeting up with her?! Are you kidding me? Jaisal killed her, didn’t she know that?’
