Building The First Adventurer Guild In Another World-Chapter 263: Home
The morning sun gradually rose above the rooftops of Greyvale City, casting its warm glow over the wide streets and tall stone buildings of the Adventurer District.
The air was filled with the enticing aroma of fresh bread from nearby bakeries, mingling with the faint metallic scent of weapons and armor that always accompanied Adventurers in their gatherings.
Just a few weeks prior, this district had resembled a battlefield; broken wood, cracked stones, shattered tables, and scorched walls had marred the compound of the Adventurer Guild.
Many believed it would take months for the Guild to recover from such devastation, but reality proved otherwise. Now standing proudly at the heart of the district, the Guild Hall had been completely rebuilt, stronger and cleaner than before, with smooth stone walls gleaming brightly in the sunlight as if no destruction had ever occurred.
Tall banner poles flanking the building displayed dark green flags of the Guild, fluttering gently in the morning breeze, their emblem visible from across the street. The large stone steps leading to the entrance buzzed with activity as people came and went, their boots echoing on the stone as another day began.
At both sides of the Guild entrance stood two massive armored stone statues, swords resting point-down before them. Their intricate carvings depicted folds in cloaks and shapes of helmets so realistic that they seemed alive from a distance.
The craftsmen had meticulously cleaned and repaired them during reconstruction, making them even more impressive now. Between these guardians loomed the enormous wooden doors of the Guild Hall, wide open to welcome an endless stream of Adventurers, merchants, travelers, and curious citizens who flocked there daily.
At the center of the Guild compound stood Sage’s statue, rebuilt like everything else, this time positioned at the center of a circular stone fountain constructed around it. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Water flowed gently from its carved basin, sparkling under sunlight while creating a soothing sound that harmonized with lively chatter surrounding it.
The statue portrayed Sage standing tall with his shameless expression; one hand rested on a staff while his other held a a gold coin.
The Guild Hall thrummed with busier energy than ever before. Groups of Adventurers moved about purposefully, some headed toward mission boards while others returned from quests with dust-covered boots and tired yet satisfied expressions.
Merchants and clients entered with scrolls and sealed letters ready to commission new missions. Stable boys guided horses into side yards while porters carried crates filled with supplies ordered for various operations.
The noise was constant but not chaotic; it resonated like a well-oiled machine where collaboration flourished daily.
Instead of weakening after its recent turmoil, it seemed that adversity had drawn even more people in; rumors about its strength spread through nearby cities and villages prompting many new Adventurers to arrive eager to join this thriving organization, some were novices who barely have enough battle experience while others were seasoned Warriors who had spent years wandering alone before deciding to register under its banner.
Inside the main hall on the ground floor, the reception counters buzzed with activity as always. The receptionists scribbled swiftly in thick registration ledgers, fielded questions and detailed mission specifics to groups of eager Adventurers.
The walls were adorned with wooden mission boards plastered with parchment notices. Some missions involved straightforward tasks like escorting caravans or gathering herbs, while others posed more perilous challenges, such as monster hunting or clearing bandit camps along the various trade routes.
Adventurers clustered around those boards, pointing at various notices and debating which missions offered the best rewards and which might be too risky.
The familiar scents of leather armor and oil from weapon maintenance mingled with the aroma of freshly brewed tea wafting from a nearby lounge, creating a signature atmosphere of the Guild.
On the second floor of the Guild building, the vibe was slightly calmer yet still vibrant. This level typically catered to Adventurers who had already proven their mettle, so most gathered here were Bronze Rank Adventurers, alongside a few Silver Rank members who preferred a quieter setting.
The spacious hall featured long wooden tables, cushioned benches, and several cozy lounge areas where Adventurers could sit down to discuss missions or simply unwind after returning from dangerous quests.
Even in this space, chatter filled the air; groups of Bronze Rank Adventurers laughed heartily as they recounted stories from their recent exploits, while a pair of Silver Rank fighters sat by the windows engaged in serious conversation over mugs of ale.
Some leaned over maps spread across tables, plotting their next ventures into the wilderness surrounding Greyvale.
At the far end of the second-floor hall was a quieter lounge area primarily reserved for Guild staff and trusted members. This space boasted more comfortable furniture and offered a view overlooking the courtyard where Sage’s statue stood proudly above a fountain.
Seated at one of these lounge tables was Lyana, her green hair neatly tied back in a high ponytail. A pair of thin glasses rested lightly on her nose as she meticulously reviewed a stack of documents spread before her. Clad in the standard Guild uniform, her demeanor exuded authority within the organization.
Morning light filtered through the window, casting soft reflections on her glasses as she focused intently on each report.
Across from her sat Boren, who had arrived earlier that morning after completing his lengthy journey back from Riverdale. He leaned back comfortably in his chair with his arms resting casually as he observed Lyana engrossed in her paperwork.
Unlike Lyana’s focused intensity, Boren appeared relaxed; however, subtle cues in his posture revealed that he remained vigilant and aware of his surroundings.
He had already noticed how much had changed within the Guild since he left for his branch mission weeks ago, the hall felt busier than ever before; Adventurers seemed more organized; an invigorating energy pulsed through every corner.
Lyana finished reading one of the documents and set it aside, finally looking up at him. The moment their eyes met, a small smile spread across her face.
"Finally," she said with a light sigh. "You’ve arrived."
Boren chuckled softly. "It hasn’t been that long."
Lyana leaned back in her chair and adjusted her glasses. "That’s easy for you to say," she replied. "You don’t know how busy it’s been here. Running this place by myself has been no small feat."
Boren raised an eyebrow playfully. "By yourself?"
Lyana narrowed her eyes slightly. "You know what I mean."
"I do," Boren said with a grin. "But you handled it well."
Her smile returned, though she tried to mask it with a more serious expression. "Of course I did," she said proudly. "If I hadn’t, the whole Guild would have collapsed."
Boren laughed quietly. "That’s true."
Lyana folded her hands on the table and leaned forward slightly. "Seriously though," she said, her tone shifting to something more earnest, "it’s great that you’re back. Things have been stable, but there’s still so much work to do."
Boren nodded in agreement. "I can see that."
She glanced toward the hall where dozens of Adventurers were bustling about. "The number of registrations increased again this week," she noted. "The rebuilding has actually made the Guild even more famous than ever, many Warriors from the surrounding towns and villages heard about what happened here and decided they wanted to join us."
Boren looked out toward the courtyard where Sage’s statue stood above the fountain. "That’s encouraging," he said quietly.
Lyana followed his gaze for a moment before turning back to him. "Speaking of which," she said, adopting a more focused tone, "tell me about Riverdale."
Boren straightened slightly in his chair. "The situation there is stable."
Lyana nodded slowly, expecting as much but wanting details nonetheless. "Give me the full report."
He rested one arm on the table and began explaining calmly: "The branch hall in Riverdale is fully operational now; Adventurer registrations have surpassed thirty thousand, most are low rank, but we have enough capable fighters to maintain order."
He paused briefly before continuing, "We established the enforcement team properly under Kael Thornhart’s leadership; he’s reliable."
Listening intently, Lyana nodded thoughtfully. "What about leadership?"
"As discussed earlier, i made Edwin Hale as branch Guildmaster," Boren continued smoothly, "and Maris Wood as Vice Guildmaster. Both have worked for the Guild the longest so they understand the system well."
A hint of brightness crossed Lyana’s face at this news. "Edwin and Maris are excellent choices, they’re calm and responsible."
"They’ll manage Riverdale effectively," Boren assured her confidently.
Lyana tapped her fingers lightly on the table as another thought crossed her mind: "And what about the City Lord?"
Boren shrugged slightly. "He hasn’t taken action yet."
Lyana tilted her head. "Interesting."
"He’s cautious," Boren explained. "That works in our favor."
Lyana leaned back in her chair, contemplating for a moment. "So Riverdale is secure for now?"
"Yes," Boren confirmed.
She exhaled slowly. "Good."
For a moment, they sat quietly as the sounds of the hall buzzed around them. Then Boren broke the silence.
"Lyana."
She looked up at him.
"Now that we’ve wrapped up the mission our boss assigned us," he said calmly, "we can’t afford to relax just yet."
Lyana’s expression sharpened slightly. "You mean the branch expansion?"
Boren nodded. "We’ve established ten branches across the region, and Riverdale was the last one."
Lyana folded her arms thoughtfully. "And now the real work begins."
"Exactly," Boren replied, leaning forward slightly with a serious tone.
"It’s not enough to simply build them," he continued. "We need to ensure all ten branches operate smoothly. They can’t fall into corruption or lose their discipline. If even one branch fails, it could tarnish the Guild’s reputation everywhere."
Lyana listened intently, nodding slowly.
"And if any branches struggle," Boren added quietly, "the entire system our boss created will start to unravel."
She glanced toward the statue of Sage outside the window before responding softly, "Yes, you’re right."
Turning back to Boren with a determined look, she declared, "Then we’ll make sure they don’t fail."
Boren smiled faintly.
Their conversation continued quietly amidst the bustling noise of the Guild around them, but one thing was clear: The Adventurer Guild had expanded significantly from its former self.
Maintaining stability within this growing structure would prove far more challenging than its initial construction.
