Chapter 83: Demons?

’’Is it over yet?’’

Rocky scratched the back of his head slightly while waiting for the system’s announcement. And just a few seconds later, the sound he’d been hoping for came.

Ting!

[Congratulations! You’ve taken three places in the mid-tier area.]

[Now, you’ll be sent to the mid-tier area and the high-tier area.]

’’Wait! I’ll be sent to two areas? I don’t get it,’’ Rocky complained.

[For some reason, the two areas above have been combined. However, those who come from the high-tier area still have better benefits.]

[You will be offered certain points from the low-tier area after one day has passed.]

Rocky nodded in understanding.

’’I see... So, I guess the high-tier area will have huge points from the low-tier area.’’

For a moment, he sank into thought as the space in front of him quickly changed. Pretty soon, Rocky found himself standing on snow-covered land.

Snowflakes drifted in midair, perching on Rocky’s palm—the cold instantly bit into him. But it wasn’t over yet. The density of the snowflakes began to increase significantly, forming a snowstorm.

Billions of snowflakes blanketed the region, mixing with the dark of night until everything became pitch-black. Rocky couldn’t see anything, except for the vague white blurs within his range.

Occasionally, waves of bone-chilling wind swept across the land, the biting cold stinging his skin.

Beside him, Bobby was still fine thanks to his thick fur, but Matt was the complete opposite. The black cat shrank into himself and clung to Bobby, trying to warm up himself with Bobby’s fur.

Rocky frowned and took out two fire pills. Then, he tossed them to Bobby and Matt. Soon, his beasts swiftly triggered the traits of the fire pills, flames forming within their bodies to push back the biting cold.

However, Rocky knew that it was only temporary.

First, he would try to find shelter, or anything to withstand the snowstorm. Then, he would decide what to do after it passed.

(Hope Alina will be fine.)

Rocky could tell that Alina and Sadly had been sent somewhere else. Well, he didn’t know if that was good or not. He only hoped they were in a better situation than him.

At some point, a sound rang out.

[Congratulations! You have survived 7 days.]

[300 Days – Day 7: 0:0 remaining.]

Current points: 1510 points

[Your current points will be offered 1000 points from the low-tier area.]

Ting!

[300 Days – Day 8: 24:00 remaining.]

Current points: 2510 points

A tinge of satisfaction appeared on his lips as he looked at the runes ahead. In contrast to the restless feeling in the low-tier area, he now felt quite comfortable, even happy.

He was no longer worried each time the end of the day came, hoping his points would be enough to survive.

At this moment, he was free from the endless cycle of slavery.

’’It’s great...’’

However, his high didn’t last long as the surface of snow beneath his feet began to tremble intensely.

Rocky’s face twisted in irritation as he struggled to regain his balance on the blanket of snow that was shaking and breaking apart.

Rocky’s pupils widened for a moment as he saw a humanoid monster shoot up from below.

The monster had a gigantic build similar to Bobby, with a coat of snow-white fur. Its expression twisted in excitement, revealing sharp fangs as it decisively swung a crude mace at Rocky.

’’Damn you! Why won’t you give me a little time to cheer up?’’

Rocky summoned a jet-black shield to block the blow, but his expression twisted in pain as the aftershock knocked him back several times.

He never imagined that, at this point, there would be a monster capable of doing this to him.

He regained his balance and stood up, gazing at the monster cautiously.

Name: Winter Ravager

Mana core: Blue

Rank: Elite

Strength: 360

Constitution: 400

Mana: 360

Speed: 400

Unique Skill: Crushing Smash, Snowbind

’’Shit! Then I understand.’’

After seeing the monster’s stats, he understood why it gave him a bit of trouble. However, it wasn’t a big deal, as Bobby and Matt returned to their true forms. Just a few seconds later, they had killed the monster with their assault.

[You have slain a Winter Ravager.]

[You have received 50 points.]

Rocky remained alert, because things wouldn’t end that easily. As expected, plenty of monsters began to emerge from the surface of the snow. All of them showed hostility toward Rocky and his beasts.

Soon, jet-black armor materialized over his body. Rocky brandished his longsword several times, taking a fighting stance while glancing sharply at his enemies through the slits of his helmet. Even the heavy snowfall and biting cold couldn’t get in his way at this point.

He stepped forward, and his body vanished from his previous spot. He began to dance his deadly rhythm as ever.

At some point, Rocky smirked as he heard a sound.

Ting!

’’That’s beyond my expectations,’’ Rocky said, glancing at his beasts’ stats.

Rocky nodded to himself before continuing to kill monsters alongside his beasts. Although they weren’t in the mood to fight, climbing a few levels wasn’t a bad thing to do.

Rocky grabbed his longsword and chopped the monster’s head before leaning back in midair, blood soaking his weapon. But for some reason, he frowned when a sneak attack hit him at that moment.

He couldn’t dodge the blow from that spot, but it wasn’t a big deal—he recognized the type of attack: an ice ball.

As soon as it touched his back, it began freezing his body, yet thanks to his armor and fire pill, Rocky simply neutralized the effect.

His eyes tracked the source of the ice ball, narrowing when he saw two figures. He couldn’t make out their shapes clearly—the snowstorm was too thick—but he quickly realized who they were.

Rocky’s pupils nearly widened. He hadn’t expected his enemies to be two demons. He couldn’t be wrong; he had once seen them in book illustrations, even witnessed his father fighting them.

Both shared the same features: two horns and bizarrely colored skin. The two ahead were demons with blue skin, but Rocky’s eyes just focused on their beasts.

They were strange beasts unlike anything he had ever seen.

A humanoid beast with a monstrous, devilish shape. Rocky could see its head, already partially concealed in ragged rags. Its back hunched, revealing long, sharp bones running along its spine. At the base of these bones, veins and rotting flesh were clearly visible, even though partly hidden by snowflakes.

Its right hand was a whip made from a spine—each vertebra protruded into a sharp spike capable of tearing anything apart.

Its left hand was a writhing mass of tentacles, wriggling like maggots in a rotting corpse.

Beside that hideous creature stood another beast, whose appearance was no less terrifying than its companion. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

This one had a large mouth in its belly and no head. Its four hands wielded longswords. It giggled as it took a step, revealing goat-like legs rippling with muscle. Its fur fluttered slowly in the biting wind.

"A beast from the back zone?.. No... they must have come from the deepest Black Zone." The handsome-faced demon chuckled, amusement in his eyes, as he sized up Rocky’s beasts.

Beside him, the demon with a long scar across his right eye spoke in a cold voice:

"Right!... Those beasts weren’t meant to exist."

His eyes gleamed sharply as he stared at Rocky’s creatures, as if they were guilty and needed to be erased immediately.

"Kill them."
