Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 712 - 713: Old man, you are still on probation
Zhou Yu was pregnant and still needed some care, so her elder brother eventually let go of her hand and supported her by the arm instead. He left Min Xin to the side, his solicitousness making it seem as if Zhou Yu were carrying his child.
Poor Min Xin walked beside them, looking on with a gloomy and longing gaze.
A short while ago, he was King Jingyao’s "sweet little darling," but now he looked like an abandoned wife.
Gu Anxi and Bo Xichen were waiting downstairs. They hadn’t gotten into the car yet. When they saw these three coming down together, Gu Anxi leaned on Bo Xichen’s shoulder and laughed. Poor Min Xin.
Her elder brother heard this and tapped her lightly on the head. "What’s there to pity about him? Shouldn’t I be the one pitied? All alone."
Gu Anxi laughed and glanced at Bo Xichen.
Bo Xichen opened the car door. Gu Anxi got in first, then called Zhou Yu to get in. Min Xin very deferentially helped Zhou Yu into the car. Bo Xichen and her elder brother got in together. Fortunately, the RV was quite spacious.
Gu Anxi saw Min Xin hadn’t moved, so she smiled. "Get in with us. Later, we’ll have the driver bring your car to Si Garden."
Min Xin, overjoyed, got into the car with a touch of reserve, settling right next to Zhou Yu. For a moment, it felt quite wonderful. He seemed oblivious to anything anyone else said, his attention entirely on Zhou Yu.
Everyone in the car understood the situation perfectly and said nothing. They were simply amused, secretly enjoying the show Min Xin was putting on. Actually, Min Xin is quite endearing, Elder Brother thought.
「Si Garden.」
Bo Nianyao, Madame Bo, and Bo Jin were the first to return home. Bo Jin, heavily pregnant, went to rest first. Bo Nianyao attended to some matters, while Madame Bo was incredibly excited. She summoned all the household staff and gave them detailed instructions. "Tonight’s little banquet is very important. All the guests are close to our Zai and are people of high status, so be sure to entertain them well."
The staff, having received their orders, all went about their tasks. Madame Bo rubbed her hands together, full of excitement.
Seeing Zai gain recognition made her happier than winning at mahjong. Just as she was reveling in her happiness, Grandpa Bo popped out from the side, looking rather listless. "It’s just a little movie, is it worth all this excitement?"
He had heard about it; it was just an animated film. How much money could it possibly make? Their family was in big business; getting this excited over a small sum truly showed a lack of worldliness.
Deep down, Grandpa Bo had always felt that though the little brat was smart, she was marrying above her status by joining the Bo family. He believed Bo Nianyao and Lin Yun were being too good to her. Even Bo Jin, who was usually straightforward, now acted as if she were under a spell. This was unacceptable. He needed to talk some sense into them.
Just as Grandpa Bo was thinking this, Madame Bo looked at him and said slowly, "You are still in your observation period."
Grandpa Bo’s old face immediately flushed red, and he fell silent.
Meanwhile, Gu Anxi and her group returned. Madame Bo personally welcomed them into the banquet hall. It was, naturally, very exquisitely arranged, with food, entertainment, and a host of celebrities present to liven things up.
Gu Anxi went to change her clothes and returned to find her elder brother, Wang Keru, Min Xin, and, surprisingly, Grandpa Bo already seated around a mahjong table.
Old Lin, seeing her come out, chuckled. "Don’t underestimate the old man; his mahjong skills are formidable. Back in the day, no one in Beicheng was his match."
As Wang Keru drew a tile, she grumbled, "Anxi, while you were gone for a moment, Mama lost a lot of money."
Saying this, she moved aside. "You play with them."
Grandpa Bo, having regained his footing, his eyes glinting, said, "What can a little girl like her do? Don’t let her lose all of Xichen’s money for his wife in just a few rounds."
After saying this, he let out a few hearty HEH HEHS, clearly pleased with himself.
The people around him watched him without saying a word, their expressions rather odd.
Grandpa Bo became a little displeased. "Why are you all looking at me like I’m an idiot?"
Her elder brother chuckled. "Grandpa Bo, don’t underestimate my little sister. She’s incredibly skilled. Tonight, the three of us are just accompanying the crown prince in his studies. Right now, you shouldn’t be worried about Xichen’s funds for his wife; you should be worrying about your own coffin fund!"
Saying this, he glanced at Gu Anxi. "If you lose money later, don’t blame me for not going easy on you."
Gu Anxi smiled. "Grandpa Bo, just focus on getting your winning hand."
Grandpa Bo was gleeful, anticipating a clean sweep...
However, after one round, he felt that something was not right.
He was usually the one winning; Wang and Min typically couldn’t even get close. But now, Wang and Min were winning almost every hand. How could he get a share? Still, he thought they were just lucky. That little rascal they claimed was so good hadn’t won a single hand either, right?
Just as he was thinking this, he drew a tile. After discarding one, he was ready for a Pure Suit hand, and there were many tiles he could win with. Overjoyed, Grandpa Bo discarded the tile.
The moment he discarded it, Gu Anxi laid down her tiles. "Pure Suit."
Grandpa Bo stared, his eyes wide and unblinking. Impossible! How could she win after only a few tiles were played? He refused to believe it and continued playing.
Pure Suit.
Pure Suit.
All Pungs!
And every time, he was the one who discarded the winning tile for them!
For Grandpa Bo, losing money was a small matter; the real issue was losing face completely with so many people watching.
Her elder brother, with a beaming smile, said, "Grandpa Bo is really splashing out today, isn’t he? Are you intentionally giving a welcome gift to our little Zai?"
Having lost face, Grandpa Bo had to play along. "Yes, yes, I was looking for an opportunity to give a welcome gift."
Gu Anxi picked up a tile and chuckled. "Grandpa Bo, you’re so stingy. This little bit of money is your welcome gift?"
Grandpa Bo thought that was about right. She comes from a minor family; isn’t a welcome gift of a few million enough? One really can’t be like Gu Anxi, thinking this is too little.
At that moment, Bo Nianyao leaned close to his father’s ear and whispered, "Zai’s own company is worth nearly two hundred billion, and it’s only been a year. Shen Congwen is managing it now. Besides that, the assets of the Gu family, and the Jiang family over in Jiangcheng, all belong to Zai. Your few million really aren’t presentable."
Grandpa Bo was stunned.
What... two hundred billion? And there’s more?
A tile slipped from his hand. Then, his spirits suddenly lifted—
Xichen has truly found a treasure!
