Captive By Desire, A Love We Can't Deny-Chapter 96: Beyond Recognition
After they finished at the police station they proceeded to the Happy Hour Disco Bar and found Deborah’s car intact with her phone, car key and wallet inside. The phone was muted and the battery was drained.
She disappeared without a trace.
So they began their investigation.
The management of the bar allowed them to see CCTV footage of last night’s event.
They saw Deborah and the shoulder length hair guy wearing a dark leather jacket and black pants enter her car, but the car remained in the same spot for a long time. Surprisingly there was no record of the couple getting out of the car.
"W-where did they go?" Alpha Roger asked. His brows knitted in confusion.
"The CCTV camera keeps recording and yet no record of them coming out of the vehicle together? I can’t understand this scenario at all," Alpha Nelson said in astonishment.
"I’m confused as well." Alpha Maxwell expressed his confusion and bewilderment as well. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
The men looked at each other. Their minds were flooded with different scenarios of what could possibly transpire inside the vehicle.
"What if this guy has the ability to teleport and he brings my daughter to his place? That is the only theory I can come up with and that’s why we didn’t see them getting out of the car at all. What do you think, guys?" Alpha Roger asked for their opinion.
"That’s a big possibility..." Alpha Nelson murmured.
"C-could it be that this guy is not of our own kind?" Alpha Maxwell blurted.
"You could be right about your guess. But no matter the identity of this guy, this is still an abduction," Alpha Roger said in distress. "The problem is how to find this guy? Where did he live? I hope that this guy has no bad intentions for my daughter," he added fearfully.
"Let’s hope for the best," Alpha Maxwell replied dejectedly, already fearing the worst for his wife.
"What will we do next?" Alpha Nelson asked his companions.
"We will bring my daughter’s car to our home, then mass print this guy’s face and hire people to find him so I can get my daughter back," Alpha Roger replied in a tone filled with determination.
They watched the video footage several times, making sure they didn’t miss anything.
One hour later, they finally stop watching the video footage and are sure of one thing, this guy is not some ordinary guy, he is one powerful being. He can teleport anytime and anywhere. It will be difficult to find such a person because his kind doesn’t leave any traces behind.
The men finally left the bar. They are faced with more uncertainties head on.
Alpha Roger drove his daughter’s car back to the Burke family.
When they finally arrived at the mansion, Alpha Roger quickly told his wife everything they saw in the video footage taken in the parking lot of the bar.
After hearing the truth, Luna Mary broke down. Her heart filled with extreme despair, worried to death about her daughter’s safety.
"Y-you mean to say our daughter was kidnapped by a powerful being? Why is this happening to her? Of all women, why her?" Luna Mary sobbed uncontrollably, deeply upset and worried about the tragedy that had fallen on her beloved headstrong daughter.
Luna Adela gently rubbed the distraught woman’s back to console her. "We will get Deborah back soon," she said consolingly.
Luna Mary glared at her. "It’s your son’s fault! He didn’t treat my daughter right, which is why my daughter wanted a divorce and went to the bar to console herself."
Everyone gasped in shock, surprised by Luna Mary’s angry outburst.
The atmosphere inside the living room suddenly became tense.
Luna Mary is not done yet. She pointed her finger at Alpha Maxwell accusingly. "It’s your fault! You pushed my daughter into a dangerous situation!" She lashed at him angrily, blaming him for her daughter’s abduction.
"I’m so sorry, Mom. Please forgive me," Alpha Maxwell apologized sincerely. He could only utter an apology as guilt began to attack his conscience. He admitted that he was partly to blame for what happened to Deborah.
"I will never forgive you if something bad happens to my daughter!" Luna Mary shouted angrily, condemning him for his negligence.
"Wife, stop this now! Let’s go home!" Alpha Roger quickly led his hysterical wife outside, back to their car.
The couple get into their car. Alpha Roger hastily waved the Burke family goodbye before driving the car to the gate.
The entire Burke family was speechless, rooted to the spot as they watched the couple’s car leave the property.
Alpha Maxwell took a deep breath. "Guys, I must admit, I’m guilty of my wife’s disappearance. Please forgive me." He apologized to his family.
"Noted, bro. I will never put myself in a loveless and chaotic marriage in the future. How troublesome your marriage was. I will stay single forever," Zian stated sarcastically.
"Shut up! This is not the time for such a heartless and stupid comment!" Alpha Nelson growled, silencing him with a glare.
Grandma patted Alpha Maxwell’s shoulder gently. "My boy, don’t be too hard on yourself. No one ordered Deborah to go to the bar to have fun. Even if she is upset with you, she should not have gone to the bar because such places are not a proper place for a married woman to visit. But now she has disappeared because she flirted recklessly with a stranger and we don’t know if she can still return home alive. We can only hope and pray for her safety."
"Grandma is right, son. Don’t blame yourself. Deborah is an adult woman, she is entirely responsible for her actions. But despite Deborah’s hardheadedness I’m still worried about her safety. I’m praying hard that she can still return to us anytime today," Luna Adela said sadly.
Becca took a deep breath, deeply worried about Deborah’s safety in the arms of the mysterious stranger who had kidnapped her. "I’m scared the guy will harm my friend," she voiced her concern.
"What are we going to do next? Deborah’s mother is already angry and blamed my brother." Theon looked at his father. "Should I start searching for my sister-in-law as well?" he asked.
Alpha Nelson shook his head. "No. You and your brother Zian will focus on our business while Maxwell and I search for Deborah’s whereabouts. She is still part of our family even if she already wanted to divorce. It’s our responsibility to help her parents find her."
"Copy Dad," Zian and Theon responded in chorus.
Alpha Nelson added, "The women will take care of the two babies. Starting tomorrow, baby Zed will stay in the mansion to be cared for alongside his brother until we find his mother."
"No problem. We will take good care of the babies," Luna Adela and Grandma replied in unison.
"It’s already evening and we are all tired of all the stress associated with Deborah’s sudden disappearance. We should all get some good sleep. When we wake up tomorrow, I hope Deborah is already back, either here or at her parents’ place," Luna Adela said despondently.
"Everyone, let’s take a rest," Alpha Nelson said.
The family left the living room and went to their respective rooms to retire for the night.
Alpha Maxwell was back in the bungalow house. When he checked his son, he was already sleeping in his crib peacefully, unaware that his mother had gone missing.
He sighed heavily.
Feelings of guilt continue to prick his conscience.
He felt guilty that he neglected his wife and did not treat her right, causing her to go straight to her doom. Despite feeling no love for Deborah anymore, she was still his responsibility because she was his son’s mother. He failed in that department. He failed to make sure his wife was safe.
Although he didn’t order his wife to go to the bar to have fun with her friends, he should at least stop her from going out. It made her an easy target for bad people in her vulnerable state. If only she was content with partying with her lady friends and ignored the men, she might still be safe today.
Damn! He doesn’t want to continue blaming himself for his wife’s disappearance. He just wants to find her quickly so they can proceed with their divorce and free himself from her shadow.
He groaned in annoyance. Why did she have to disappear just when she was ready to divorce him?
Sigh.
He doesn’t want to spend all years of his life searching for her whereabouts just because he feels guilty that he was never a good husband to her. It is heavy baggage to carry every day.
For a moment he hated Deborah for going to the bar, flirting with strangers with questionable behavior, and not caring for her safety at all. Now he has to pay the price for her disappearance. His mother-in-law has already blamed him.
If he does nothing to find her, one day his son Zed will start asking why he didn’t make an effort to search for his mother and why he gave up on her too soon.
He has no choice but to act like a grieving husband and find his missing wife all over the country. With no solid evidence in hand, it’s like finding a needle in the middle of a haystack.
Who knew that guy in the video was using fake hair to lure gullible victims? His face isn’t clear in the video footage because his long messy hair covers the majority of his face.
It’s difficult finding a guy with a blurry face all over the city.
Absolutely difficult!
He took a deep breath, trying to stay calm in dealing with a stressful situation.
He initially wanted to chat with his sweetie pie, but he felt drained and wanted to sleep.
He brushed his teeth in the bathroom, then afterwards he made baby formula and put it in the fridge.
After making sure his son was comfortable in his crib, he finally went to sleep. He had difficulty sleeping, tossing on his bed several times, but after one hour he finally drifted into a deep slumber.
The following day...
He woke up at 7:00 in the morning, feeling refreshed and energized only to be greeted with bad news.
Two mutilated bodies of women beyond recognition were found in different areas dumped near the Aldes river on the outskirts of the city.
He needed to go to the morgue immediately to identify if one of the bodies was his missing wife Deborah.
