Chapter 655: -Chapter 655-

Their next destination was an impressive house tucked away between rows of houses. It was all on Nikolai’s turf. They could live anywhere, but a Mafia King had to live on his turf, it was expected.

The house itself was impressive, but it was in a gated community, which meant that the fence of the house itself was pretty low. When Angelo was thinking ’normal’, he wasn’t thinking this normal.

"Maybe somewhere a little more secluded?" He suggested as they walked around the small yard space, "Or do you prefer living next to others?" He asked curiously, remembering that his first rooftop apartment had been in a residential complex.

Nikolai’s brows furrowed. It wasn’t a preference, he just hadn’t given it much thought. He had always been alone, so there was no reason to consider most things. Even though his dad had a proper mansion befitting a Mafia King, Nikolai had spent most of his life in a box or a small bare room, he had no connection to the house.

"To you, yes." He answered, quick with his response.

Angelo wasn’t surprised to hear that, "Let’s head to the next house, we don’t want to be late for lunch." He decided, starting for the car.

It was getting colder, as expected. It was December, the year coming to an end. He was wearing a jacket, but soon it wouldn’t be enough.

The next property was a little distance away, the mansion’s compound was massive, so big that there was a fence within a fence. There was a much higher fence around the mansion itself, the space around empty because it was also a part of the house.

There was a lot of open space for whatever they wanted to do, enough for a stable, a golf course, and then some. It also provided much-needed privacy.

The mansion itself was a little on the small side compared to the one they had just seen in the gated community, and it looked dated but was well kept despite this.

Nikolai parked in the driveway so they could walk around; there was an emptied pool complete with an antique gazebo, and behind the house was an orchard. The interior of the house was surprisingly modern, but the decor was still consistent with the exterior of the house.

"I like it," Angelo nodded approvingly, already picturing them having dinner on the rustic back porch or in the elegant dining room that had candelabras. "What do you think?"

Nikolai looked around properly for the first time; houses meant nothing to him, he had more than he knew what to do with. Most lavish properties were just as cold as a metal box, there was little difference to him.

He looked at the circular driveway from the balcony they were on, with its perfectly trimmed shrubs and trees, and he could see himself driving in with Angelo, or driving home to the assassin. He personally didn’t have an opinion on it, but when he added Angelo, it gave him a reason to look closer.

"It’s pretty nice," He agreed, "Let’s take it."

Angelo stared out of the balcony as well. The gray skies were cloudy, and it looked like it was about to snow again, but it couldn’t be a more perfect sight. "How soon are we moving in?" He asked, standing close enough to Nikolai to lightly rest his head on the Alpha’s shoulder.

Nikolai pulled him into his arms at the slight gesture, "Tonight." He said with intensity, leaving no room for discussion.

Angelo didn’t mind the suddeness, it was long past the time for Nikolai to reclaim his turf. "Alright. Let’s leave for lunch." He agreed easily, stepping out of Nikolai’s hold so they could head to the car.

Nikolai stopped him by tightening his arms, pulling him in for a kiss before letting him go. They went out to the driveway together, Nikolai already making arrangements for the house to be set up in the next few hours.

Angelo went for the driver’s seat while Nikolai was making calls, and without missing a beat, the Mafia King went right for the passenger seat. Angelo knew how to get to the Black Mansion, so he easily drove them out of their new house, listening to Nikolai give out orders.

He glanced down at the bracelet around his wrist; he didn’t take the tracking devices seriously because Nikolai never stopped him from doing things, the Mafia King just wanted to tag along.

"Who are you calling this time?" He asked curiously.

Nikolai wore a grin that he didn’t see often - Angelo didn’t have siblings, but if he had an annoying one, they would be wearing the same expression. "Calling Davian."

Angelo figured out why instantly. Nikolai was calling the other Mafia King to rub it in his face that he was having lunch with his mate, he hadn’t even waited till they got to Lake’s. He decided not to intervene, after all, they would be gone by tonight. Davian would have to shoot him another time.

Lake was at the foyer to receive them when they arrived at the pregnant Omega’s home, a smile on his pretty face.

"You didn’t have to come down to get us." Angelo immediately went to his side, worry on his face.

Lake was in his mate’s dress shirt and comfortable pajama pants, his hair in a messy ponytail. "Moving around is good for me," He reassured the other, holding out his hand to Angelo.

He was very careful when going up and down the stairs, preferring to have someone with him when he moved around. He was in the last trimester, and their baby boy seemed to have a growth spurt recently - his back had also started to hurt.

Angelo was more than happy to help him up the stairs, Nikolai walking behind them with watchful eyes.

"It’s really nice to have you both for lunch," Lake blew out a breath, taking the steps slow. "Michael and Rosie never let me eat what I want when Davian isn’t here." He complained.

Angelo was reminded of Lake’s craving for ’rainwater’ at one of the dinners they had at Caspian’s home, and how the Omega would eat his husband’s seafood platter every day if he was allowed, and he could see why that was the case.
