Card Apprentice Daily Log-Chapter 2774: Double Celestial Domain
Date: Unspecified
Time: Unspecified
Location: Myriad Realms, Card World, Southern Region, Blossom District, Sky Blossom City, TSR Guild Headquarters, Card Lab
"Hey, Corey? You alright?" I called out in concern. A moment ago she had been cursing someone under her breath, and the next her face turned grim. I kept a patient eye on her, guessing it had something to do with memories from her past life.
Corey finally opened her eyes and looked at her boss. With a challenging glint, she said, "Wyatt, let’s fight. I bet I can defeat you in one move!"
"Looks like you’re doing alright. I’ll take my leave now. I have other matters that need my attention," I replied, turning to leave the card lab and ignoring her challenge.
I didn’t blame Corey for overestimating herself. After every major breakthrough, it was natural to feel like you were the strongest person in the whole damn world. I had felt it myself before, and there was no rush quite like it.
"Wyatt, don’t be scared," Corey taunted when she saw me leaving without responding. "Don’t worry, I’ll go easy on you."
Shaking my head, I walked out of the card lab. Sure, there was no high like ascending to a new major realm, but that didn’t mean you could go around challenging people. Fortunately for Corey, I was used to this kind of obnoxiousness from her. If it had been someone else, they would have definitely put her in her place.
Corey followed close behind me while the white snake coiled around her wrist, raising its head to glare at my back with a sinister look. One word from its master and it would lunge at me without hesitation.
I honestly didn’t know what to do with those two. One moment they were adorable, and the next they were downright obnoxious. I figured Corey hadn’t come out of inheriting her past memories completely unscathed this time either.
Or maybe her past self had simply been someone too powerful and glorious, giving her the confidence to think she could clown me from behind. Without turning around, I warned her, "Cut it out, Corey. It’s just the rush from ascending. It’ll wear off soon, so don’t do anything you’ll regret later."
"As if you’ve got what it takes to make me regret it," Corey shot back, deliberately provoking her boss. She knew he wouldn’t accept her challenge unless she gave him a reason to. When it came to her, he was always patient. It was both reassuring and annoying.
"Fine, you asked for it," I said, turning around.
But the moment I did, I felt Corey’s mental field spread across me. At the same time, several dangerous rule-power fluctuations shot toward the vital points of my body. I didn’t bother dodging them. Instead, I walked straight through.
The rule power sliced me into a dozen pieces, but my celestial force immediately pulled me back together. In the next moment, I had my hand around her neck and slammed her to the floor before she could react.
Meanwhile, the sinister white snake only glared at me. Lil’ Baem made no move to protect her mommy or attack me, clearly restrained by her mother’s command.
"That was a neat trick, cutting me at the cellular level," I said, still holding her by the neck. "But I’ve long since learned how to suppress that. Now, are you satisfied?"
I stared into Corey’s eyes, only to realize she was getting excited. Before I knew it, the hand gripping her neck slowly began to disintegrate. Taking advantage of the moment, she kicked me off, rolled away, and sprang back onto her feet with a quick somersault.
"Far from it," she said with a grin. "Let’s take this somewhere more spacious."
"No need for that. I’ve already won," I said. "I can’t believe you didn’t notice, even after inheriting your past life’s mental field. It’s an excellent sensory field with all kinds of versatile applications."
I kept talking while Corey stared at me in confusion. Then her expression suddenly shifted to shock as she realized what had happened. My blood plague had already spread through her body, paralyzing it and taking her titled demon core hostage.
I wasn’t afraid of going a little overboard with her. She possessed the average mastery in Blood Rebirth meaning of the Blood Rule and had recently awakened the Deathless Soul trait. As long as her titled demon core remained intact and there was little bit of blood, she would recover no matter how badly I damaged her body. Her mind, however, was a different matter.
"Oh yeah? Watch me prove you wrong," Corey shouted. She immediately used Conjoin on the blood plague infesting her body and even on the energy binding her titled demon core. The unstable fusion caused the plague to collapse and disintegrate inside her.
With the paralysis gone, she straightened up and walked toward the exit, remarking cooly, "Follow me. Today I’ll show you that I’ve finally surpassed you."
"Hahaha, surpassing me? So that’s what this is about?" I laughed, finally understanding why Corey had been so headstrong about challenging me. "Honey, get ready to learn what despair tastes like."
With that, I activated the special move I had been preparing for the new Three Mischief, "Double Celestial Domain: Limitless Celestial & Celestial Blood Fate."
In an instant, Corey, her baby snake, and I were pulled into a point in space that stretched infinitely in every direction. At the same time, it was reinforced by Celestial Blood Fate, flooding the domain with power and turning the entire space a deep crimson red.
I immediately used Celestial Blood Fate to plunder everything she had, her prowess, soul energy, physique, rules, every damn thing. Within the Double Celestial Domain, she was reduced to nothing more than a mortal, helplessly suspended in the endlessly stretched crimson space aimlessly, with no power to move about, let alone fight me.
I appeared before her and staring into her eyes, I asked, "Had enough?"
