Cartel Experience-Chapter 59: The Grand Plan: Wait.
[System: You made a bigger enemy of her with this move.]
No, this is the beginning of a friendly connection between us. César thought this as he was just still staring at Sirina on the ground, just looking at her and knowing that with this, nothing bad will really happen. Moreover, it will truly deepen their connection.
It was like she shot him with the intent to kill him, and now César shot her back. He did not have the intent to kill her, but he wanted to give her the idea that he is not the type of person she could just manipulate into talking. He wanted her to know she couldn’t try to take the upper hand, try to manipulate him into more trouble, or try to threaten him.
The whole idea of staring at her with a smile, visibly enjoying her suffering, was there to plant the seed in her mind. It was meant to show her that there is no chance with him and that he is different from others.
And well, it worked.
She received the message loud and clear. More importantly, the seed had been planted within her, not just by this entire situation, but from the very moment she first met César in the interrogation room. In that instant, she realized he was not simply different. His entire being existed on a level far beyond anyone else she had ever encountered. It was not merely because she believed him to be a DCA agent. No, his fundamental nature as a human being was operating on a completely different level and understanding.
The smile and the way his face looked when he took pleasure in the suffering of others. His rapid decision making and his readiness to kill whoever necessary to reach his objective. All of these traits pointed to a single conclusion.
It was not recklessness or simple cruelty, it is just absolute will to do anything required to achieve his goals.
And that will was now showing itself clearly. It was the will of somebody who had completely mastered his own fear, or perhaps it was more accurate to say that all fear had simply vanished from him.
A man ready to act at any moment, and that made him one of the most dangerous people on the planet.
The people who fear nothing are the ones you have to worry about the most. They do not have the same limits as everyone else. Instead of feeling afraid, they find a way to trigger fear and suffering in other people.
They use that fear as a tool and now César stood there as living proof of this. He didn’t just ignore pain or danger,he seemed to thrive on it. The type of person who could look at suffering and see it as a necessary part of his path.
She realized that by sparing her life after she had tried to take his, he wasn’t showing mercy more like dragging her into his own word.
"Once you are ready, get up and we can talk a bit." César said as he finally stepped over her and sat down at the table that it looked like somebody had been killed there, as the red wine was spilled all over it, and it was actually a good atmosphere.
The smell of red wine mixed with the blood that dripped from the cut on Sirina’s hand created a tense enough atmosphere to register in her mind, that she needed to get up fast, even if it hurt, and sit her ass down to talk.
Moreover, the tables had turned. It was now César who was inviting her to the conversation.
[System: Why not just torture her for the answers you want?]
I have no idea what I should even ask her. César thought, and well, it was true, he saw no help in Sirina, just a connection to the NSA and that was it. And there was another problem with it. She seems to me like a doll.
[System: So she isn’t a director?]
I don’t know, she can be. César looked at her as he was getting up slowly. But it’s just too lame to be true. A director is not like her; she is too amateur. Impossible, all of it seems like a fucking error in the coding.
[System: I think it is because of your memories and experience with directors who were as manic as you, but that was the past. This Sandria is much different.]
But she is the director of the National Security Agency. She is the leader of it, the one who protects the nation. How can she be this bad?
[System: Maybe her hands are tied by the government. Don’t forget the only agency that has free will is the DCA. Every other one is under the government. Corruption and bureaucracy can limit or even stop the functioning of an agency, let it be the national level one.]
Maybe the NSA is weak for a purpose so the DCA can make billions.
Indeed, it seemed to be a good answer, but hearing it from Sirina’s mouth was a better option. And she was ready as she slowly sat down at the table, staring at César in a way that was finally it... the look that he waited for.
The look of somebody who wants to kill him on the spot.
"What was your grand plan?" César asked with a laugh at the end just to push her more into anger, to see her real emotions come out, but... she smiled.
"My plan..." She began, her voice low and visibly in pain. "... was as t-to..wait."
"Waait?" César laughed again. "Well, it didn’t really help you, darling."
"No... it helped." She began again as her smile spread even more while her eyes went from César to the side. "I-I have stubborn agents... you fucker."
[System: Behind you.]
Not even a second later César felt it... a gun pressed to the back of his head.
