Chapter 64: Mission?

It was a little sad to César. Not just sad, but he also felt a deep shame about the whole situation. Everything that happened felt wrong as Sirina could have been a good connection to the NSA, more than just a good one as she was literally scared of him, yes, but still, she could have been useful.

But now all this bullshit and on top of it a dead NSA director, killed in her own home with a bullet in her forehead.

Though at least now, things would become much faster and much more fucked up, because the death of a director was not something that could be ignored or pushed aside, and it would shake everything even harder than before, forcing movement, forcing reactions, and creating chaos.

And that was the worst thing César kept thinking about, again and again, even though he wanted to shake it off and pretend it did not matter, even though he tried not to think about it at all, or at least tried to see it as a good move instead of a disaster.

Everyone would start connecting the dots. A killer on the loose, Hoffa dead, and now even the NSA director dead, which would have been a great move, but the narrative could be pushed, and it would be pushed by one person.

The Secret Service director, because he would sooner or later realize that César was the one who killed Sirina, and that was a big problem, because this was peaceful Sandria. The version where César could have built his cartel quietly making connections, expanding step by step, but now everybody would jump at him.

What a waste it was. Special card after special card. Near death after near death. And in the meantime, not a single major thing was truly done for his cartel.

And the worst part of it all was that he could not even lie to himself and say that any of this was worth it. Sirina’s death gave him nothing he could truly use. It did not give him strength, leverage, or control.

I never thought I would miss the old versions of Sandria.

[System: You need to adapt, and when you do, you will realize how many opportunities are in front of you.]

Opportunities? There is not a single mafia nor cartel in this bullshit city, just gangs.

[System: The game is about conquering Sandria, it doesn’t state you need to start in the city. You can go to the border regions.]

If I go there, the DCA fucks me up as well as the cartels. If I stay here, I get fucked by the agencies.

"César, you seem to think a lot." Hugo’s voice came as they were already out of the neighborhood, walking back toward downtown.

"We need to think what move to make, and when, because if not, we are going to get fucked in the ass." He giggled a bit as he shook his head, but it was frustrating him. For the first time, this version of Sandria was fucking with his head.

"Oh, that is funny." Hugo laughed too. "Fucked in the ass, exactly what Arlo and Matteo are doing."

"What do you mean by that?" César asked confused.

"They went to the house of that judge to clear it out, so they are probably going to fuck them..." He glanced at César. "Maybe Arlo will truly fuck them, if you get what I am saying."

César didn’t even stop at first because there was no way Hugo said what he said, but then he finally realized it and stopped. "Matteo and Arlo went to Clara’s house to clear it out?"

"Exactly." Hugo answered with a smile on his face. "Arlo is going to have fun with it, I’m sure of it." Hugo laughed, but on César’s side, he was confused by all of it.

What the fuck does he mean by that?

[System: I forgot to tell a little detail.]

Then fucking tell me.

[System: You said what mission you would like to assign them, so I also made sure to have those missions in them. Not just that, but the card also gives them a starting pack, which is usually money, which they can spend on their own.]

You fucking said I need to buy things for them.

[System: Indeed, but you never asked if they will have money.]

He almost stopped again in his tracks, but knew not to, he didn’t want Hugo to worry about him, so he kept his cool as much as he could while the dumb-ass System was telling him all of this.

So Arlo and Matteo are at the house of Clara... in the hood? Why did Hugo come for me?

[System: I don’t know if they are there, but Hugo said they went there since that was the mission assigned to them. Hugo came here because he is your right-hand man/bodyguard. His role is to be with you and help with whatever he can.]

He froze down a little, because he realized that he could have fucked up things so much and he didn’t even know about it now. He could have said to kill the Secret Service Director or anything else, and the System would have assigned it to Arlo, and that motherfucker would do whatever he needed to do, not ask a single question back, just jump into it.

Yeah, César could have fucked up with it, or more like the motherfucking System that didn’t even say a single word about all of it.

"So... Arlo and Matteo went to the house?"

"Yeah." Hugo glanced at César. "Arlo was so excited about it that he couldn’t stop smiling at all. He even said he will stop at a store to buy some equipment."

"Oh... that’s good."

Well, it was good to think about it. At least those gangsters will be dealt with, and they will have the house to themselves like a headquarters.

The only thing that was a little bad about it, or at least what César was worried about, was the fact that Hugo said that Arlo was excited about it... because once Arlo is excited, he will fuck up people on another level.

And well, he was about to be.

"Why is that?"

"Huh, what do you mean?"

"The bolt cutter." Matteo said as they were standing at the store where César bought his purple shirt... the hood store. And well, Arlo had in his hands a big-ass bolt cutter.

"To cut, obviously." Arlo replied as he looked at Matteo in a way where he didn’t understand why he would ask that question.

"I understand that, but why didn’t you buy something smaller, like a knife or something? We’re here to clear out the house, not to paint it red."

"Oh, I bought other tools too." Arlo said as he bent down, opening his bag. "Knife, pliers, duct tape, chains." He started pulling them out. "I also bought nails, a battery-powered drill, a saw, a hammer, and a bottle of acid." He finished, then looked up at Matteo. "It will all come in handy to get some information." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"For information?" Matteo repeated, though he obviously knew what Arlo was talking about now, and he was a bit scared of it. Because, well, Matteo, to be honest, is everything but fit to be a cartel member.

Originally, he was an accountant working at a very good position, but he got fucked up, put in jail, and when he came out, he decided that working for a cartel to make lot of money. Basically, he isn’t really for blood, torturing people. He doesn’t really have the stomach for it.

"People lie when they’re comfortable. That’s why pain is needed. It strips away everything, and then the truth comes out."

"You’re talking like you want someone alive in there. We were sent here to kill them."

"Shooting people is boring. What the fuck is in it?" He looked into Matteo’s eyes. "When you cut them, skin them, suffocate them, pour acid into their eyes, throat, and so on." He didn’t break eye contact. "That’s the difference between amateurs and people who last. We need to break them before killing them."

"Then I am an amateur." Matteo said as he pulled out the pistol behind his back. "I will shoot, and that’s it. If you want to cut their heads and so on, just do it away from me."

For some reason, as Matteo said it, Arlo genuinely looked sad... like he wanted to share his techniques with Matteo, like he wanted to put on a show where he would have joined in, but now Matteo’s world kind of shattered that.

Though one thing was sure:,he wasn’t shattered completely, as that smile was still on his face as he put on his heavy backpack.

"We’re different, I get it." Arlo began. "You have fun with numbers and so on, while I have fun listening to people scream... well, I wanted to say something wise, but it’s better to go." Arlo laughed, and with that, started walking toward the house, though Matteo just knew for sure he would see something gruesome and terrible, but that was what they needed to do.
