CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 181: The Maze
The group went inside the hidden pathway. When they’re inside, the wall filled itself back up and hid the path.
"Is someone watching us?" Selina said."
"No. It’s a magic circle."
Mater put his hand on the wall. He used Chaos Sculpting again and the door was revealed.
"There’s a circle on the wall that hides the path after a certain amount of time. It takes Chaos from a specific source. Let’s see if I can locate this source." The black cat meowed.
He traced the connection of the magic circle on the wall. Mater’s Chaos followed the connection and mapped out the entirety of the hidden pathway.
"The pocket dimension of this factory was made, not naturally formed. Someone created this place." The black cat meowed again. "I should have known. A pocket dimension shouldn’t be easy to form on its own."
"What do you see, Mr. Mater?" Selina said.
"I see a complex maze if we continue. Luckily, whoever made this maze spread a system of Chaos Connections. You can think of it like electrical wires or water pipes.
With these connections, I can learn the exact layout of the maze.
There are many traps laying around as well. Let me deactivate them all."
As Mater took over the complex system of the maze, it notified someone in the real world.
Bautista put a pair of glasses on him to read the reports of Zauber Enterprises.
Zauber Enterprises dropped out of the top ten most wealthiest corporations in the Union the last few years. However, it still managed to stay in the top 100 despite its lack of young talents.
Now with the death of its heir, Levy Zakharov, Bautista planned to buy the company.
Mikael Zakharov was simply too old and wouldn’t be able to stay in power for long. Bautista wanted to buy Zauber Enterprises and offered the first buyout.
"Tito! He’s here!" A young man knocked on the door.
"Let him in, nephew." Bautista said.
Mikael entered the office. The old man took a look at the muscular man with a bald head.
Bautista ’Tito’ Von Schattenberg. The current patriarch of the Von Schattenbergs and also the biggest shareholders of the Von Schattenberg Group, one of the wealthiest corporations in the entire world and the second largest multinational automotive conglomerate.
In simple terms, they built and sold the best cars in the world.
Bautista wasn’t very tall but he was very wide. His biceps looked like they wanted to burst out from the tight fabric of his shirt.
Bautista rolled his sleeves up to his elbow, revealing the tattoos on his arms.
"Mikael! Long time no see, uncle!"
Bautista put the reports down and rushed over to hug Mikael. He picked the old man up like nothing.
Mikael didn’t resist. It’s what these people used to do. Declining it would be a sign of great disrespect.
Mikael wasn’t actually Bautista’s uncle. People like Bautista just called everyone as family titles if they knew each other well enough.
"You’re still as strong as ever, Tito." Mikael chuckled lightly.
Bautista placed him down gently and shrugged, "Still hitting the gym every day!"
"You surely are energetic for someone in their forties." Mikael sat down.
Bautista returned to his chair behind the table.
"So what do you want to meet me for, Tito?"
"I heard about what happened with Levy, uncle. It is a great shame that the boy died so soon. Please accept my sincerest condolences."
"Thank you for your kind words, Tito." Mikael sighed. He knew Bautista wasn’t that concerned about Levy. Beneath that kind and friendly facade was a monster. But Mikael wasn’t going to tear that away from him.
"As far as I know. You don’t have an heir yet and soon, the Zauber Enterprises would soon be taken over by strangers. So I’m here to offer you something for your retirement, uncle."
Bautista gave Mikael a stack of papers. It was basically a contract of buying the shares of the Zauber Enterprises that the Zakharovs had.
Mikael couldn’t help but smirk. ’This hypocrite. He just wants to snatch the work of my family. He does offer a very good price...’
Von Schattenberg Group might not be in the most valued company in the world but they’re the cash king. They always had a few hundred billion credits laying around.
"You gave a very generous offer, Tito. But I have to decline."
Bautista’s face changed immediately. His face tensed up and he stared at Mikael, "Oh? Why is that?"
Mikael smiled, "The Zakharovs actually has an heir. That prodigal son of mine abandoned my family but he did have a daughter before he left. Lucyna Zakharov."
Bautista’s face softened. If Mikael had declined the offer for any other reasons, he might have been angry. But the Von Schattenbergs respected the idea of family the most.
Suddenly, the patriarch of the Von Schattenbergs stood up and widened his eyes.
"Is something wrong?" Mikael said.
"Someone is messing with the rituals I left in the White Seam Factory."
"Hmm. Isn’t that where you’re making the relic?"
Bautista nodded. "I purposefully made it so it’s only a Bronze Rank Bounty. I was sure no Bronze Psychic would be able to solve it."
"If the Union found out about what you’re trying to do, they won’t be happy."
"I have to send a few Freelancers inside to deal with this." Bautista squinted his eyes.
The Von Schattenbergs couldn’t be seen in connection with disastrous NCE sites like the White Seam Factory. They might be powerful and influential. But that was only comparable to other ancient families or modern corporations.
The Union had the power to wipe the Von Schattenbergs out of their map if they wanted to.
Bautista picked up the phone, "Connect me to the Atlas Seven."
After deactivating all the traps within the maze, the group started to move through it.
Without the eyes of outsiders, Mater called out Bash and let him walk in the front. He, Aurora and Selina were in the back. Crow was right behind Bash in the front line to assist the tank.
The maze was a system of tunnels with cement walls. It would take days to find the way out if Mater hadn’t known its layout first.
There wasn’t any danger for the first few ten minutes of the maze. After they took a corner, the group saw two wraiths with hands as candles.
"Take care of them." The black cat meowed.
"On it, Master!" Crow jumped on Bash’s back. He summoned a long Nether Poleaxe.
Bash smacked his chest repeatedly, "Bash Charge!"
