Chapter 243: Chapter 243: The Hexagon

Crow stepped into the ring. After he had got rid of his trench coat, Tommy and the rest of the capos finally understood what he actually was.

He was no ordinary human. That black fabric on him was a suit. It was his skin. And his eyes were as white as moonlight.

Tommy frowned, "What even is he?"

Sparrow sat near the hexagon and played the lute, "A science experiment. A cursed man. An abomination from the abyss. Who knows?"

Sparrow shrugged, "But that doesn’t matter now, does it? What matters is how strong he is in the ring of Menace."

Sparrow swiped his fingers over the strings elegantly.

Outside the ring, a muscular man in skin-tight shorts was getting ready. He emptied a bottle of water and poured the rest over his head.

A capo approached him and gave the fighter a small red pill.

"Take this. You’re too weak to test a peak Menace Psychic. This will make you more on par with him." The capo said.

"This is..." The fighter examined the pill.

"They call it Bloodshot on the street. Some gang in the Slum Slopes sold it. They went out of business a while ago so these pills are very rare."

"I don’t need this pill, boss. I can take him." The fighter said.

"Don’t underestimate your enemy. And don’t be ungrateful."

The capo whispered in the fighter’s ear, "That thing in your hand is worth 800 credits. 800 credits for a pop."

The fighter widened his eyes. The way he looked at the red pill had completely changed.

The black cat had climbed on top of the building and was lying lazily on a wooden bar. It heard the entire conversation between the capo and the fighter.

"Isn’t that... the HAS pill?"

Leslie had created that pill for the Haland Boys in the past. They used it and also sold it. But Mater really didn’t put much weight on the original HAS pill. He was much more interested in what Leslie could make next.

But Mater had changed his mind.

"800 credits for one single pill, huh? 10 pills are 8,000 credits. That is not a bad deal at all.

However, it only has that price because of the current rarity. I wonder how much they would buy it as a regular item."

Mater immediately connected with Sparrow and ordered him to have a talk with the capo. The black cat just smelled an amazing opportunity to gain some wealth, it couldn’t just let it slip away without notice.

Sparrow continued to play his lute and didn’t say anything out loud. He communicated with Mater secretly and devised a good way to bring this up to the capo.

They both decided it would be better to wait for Crow to finish.

The nameless fighter took the pill. His skin immediately turned red. Smoke formed around his body, floating off of his skin.

The fighter walked to the ring. Some poor guy touched him accidentally.

That guy jerked back and let out a small shriek because of the heat. "The hell?! He’s hot like coal."

The fighter kicked the door to the cage open and walked inside. The security closed the door and tied it tight with chains and a steel lock.

Crow wasn’t even fazed by his opponent’s aggressive presence. His eyes stayed focused toward the fighter.

"I don’t fight nameless people. Tell me your name."

Crow raised his two hands up into a classic boxing stance. Aaron Cage had a very traditional way of fighting. It was very ancient but in no way less effective than the modern way of fighting.

"Heh. Ray Johnson."

The fighter eased into his stance. He held his hands even higher with his front knee slightly above.

"Crow Cage."

The announcer grabbed the microphone and screamed.

"Ladi-i-i-i-i-i-i-ies and Gentleme-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-en.

I present to you.

Your undisputed Menace Champion, Ray Johnson, the Annihalato-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-or!

On the other side of the ring, the challenger.

Crow Cage, the Da-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ark!"

"Crow the Dark? Who even gave him this name?" Sparrow watched everything with a smile on his face.

"Probably just something the announcer made up to excite the crowd." The black cat meowed.

"There is no rule! Who faints first is the loser! Who surrenders first is the loser! A-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-and who dies first! IS THE LOSER!"

The crowd went crazy. The bell rang.

The betting table had also become a mess with people betting on the fighter they think will win. The odds weren’t in Crow’s favor. Simply because no one knew Crow.

They only knew Ray.

Sparrow put his lute away and rubbed his hands, "Maybe we should bet something."

The black cat glanced over to Tommy and his capos sitting at the top.

"Sure. But don’t overdo it. They are still our allies... for now." The black cat meowed.

"Don’t worry, Master." Sparrow adjusted his suite. "I won’t."

Sparrow took out 10,000 mobile credits and threw it onto the betting table.

"10,000 creds for Crow. The odds are three to one, right?"

The patrons glanced over to Sparrow. Except for him, no one had bet on Crow.

The staff looked up to Sparrow and nodded, "Three to one."

A capo leaned over to Tommy, "They seem very confident, huh? I hope they won’t botch this somehow. Ray may not be a peak Menace, but he is no pussy either."

"I would be rather surprised if that dark man loses." Tommy said.

The two fighters clashed at each other. Ray started by throwing a side kick at Crow.

The Abyss Abomination deflected the kick like he deflected a punch. The force of the kick couldn’t budge him at all.

Crow countered the attack with a cross, shooting straight at Ray’s face.

Ray blocked it. But his entire body was pushed back a few steps. His hands trembled greatly.

"You’re pretty strong, huh?" Ray said.

"Come." Crow waved at Ray.

They came into the blender again. Ray threw kicks while Crow threw punches.

Strikes. Dodges. Evades. Counters. And movement. Everything mixed together like a beautiful painting of Chaos.

Crow threw a jab at Ray, making him flinch and pull his hands up to cover. That was only a feint, as Throw directed the jab into an uppercut.

The punch went over the defense of Ray and into the empty space between his hands.

The punch connected and landed at Ray’s jaw.
