Celestial Speed: Legacy-Chapter 63: goddess of machines
"Well, that sure was a lot more fun than i thought it would," Xavier muttered, dropping his Nature-improvised club and dusting his hands together. He sighs in satisfaction and walks up to the female agent, who had wounds of various kinds, all over her body.
"Hey, i only have a few questions to ask you, and i need you to answer me," he said, taking out an healing serum and stretching it to her. "Is that understood?" he asked sharply
But the woman didn’t respond, neither did she take the serum, she just laid there, staring at Xavier menacingly, her eyes full of hatred for him, or rather his kind.
"I don’t collect things from you filthy, corrupted scums," she replied coldly, gritting her teeth from anger, or maybe the pain. But it’s probably the anger.
Xavier sighed. "Okay now you’re just being racist," he muttered with a playful tone
"You think this is a joke, don’t you?" the woman muttered, staring at Xavier like he was a lunatic. "Your kind are a scourge to this planet, and you all need to be cleansed, even if it means eradicating the lot of you to achieve purity,"
"Once again, racist. And i need answers from you and i can’t get any if you bleed out to death, so, I’ll have to ask you to please, drink the fucking serum," Xavier replied
"I will never collect anything from the enemy, I’ll rather die than tell you anything," the woman retorted
Xavier sighed deeply, he was getting impatient. "Look, i won’t turn you in to Triad, or keep you captive. Just tell me what the deal is with this new energy you’re using and I’ll let you go, i promise," he said with an assuring expression. But the woman frowned and spat on the ground, showing her resolve to not comply.
"Damn, this people have really been brainwashed, it’s even worse than a few years ago. But i have to know about their operations," he thought, and was about to speak out when a voice ringed out from behind him.
"I’m afraid that won’t be happening," the voice was feminine but thick and mature.
Xavier turned to looked at the owner of the voice but before he could catch a glimpse of anything, he suddenly felt a strong lift and slam him into a nearby tree.
He gritted his teeth in pain as his back hit the tree with a devastating impact, and he braced himself for another impact, one that would occur from falling to the ground. But it came, his body remained pressing against the tree, seemingly defying gravity. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Xavier’s pain was replaced with confusion as he the strong force held him in place, not giving him a chance to even move his eyelids. But then he saw it, the person responsible for the phenomenon and owner of the voice, the same hot black-american he had completely forgotten about.
It was the leader of the group, she had been watching since the beginning of the fight and decided to strike when Xavier was off guard, her not showing up earlier had given Xavier the impression that she’d already left.
"My, quite a damage you’ve done," she sighed, speaking in a fluent British accent, one that deeply contradicted her skin color.
She walked up to the woman and gave her an healing serum, which she collected gracefully and drank. That was when Xavier noticed something; the woman was black as well.
"I knew it!" he exclaimed in his mind. Trying to joke with himself even in his current situation.
Then the leader walked towards one of the men passed out on the floor, she removed the ring on his finger and put it on. And almost immediately a large multi-coloured conch appeared in her hand, one that looked like a deformed trumpet.
"All this trouble, and for a shell that’s probably not even real," she muttered, and began walking towards Xavier, who still remained in the tree, a bit stunned by the shell.
"Wait! Isn’t that Triton’s conch shell, the same type those guys came to steal at the museum the other day. But if that one was successful taken, then this is another one, what are these people planning," he pondered inwardly as the leader arrived at the tree where he rested.
She smiled. "Isn’t it beautiful?" she asked, raising it up for Xavier to see clearly. Then she suddenly frowned. "I want to smash it so bad,"
She then looked up at Xavier, raised her left hand slightly and moved two of her fingers in a downward motion. And at the same time she moved her fingers, Xavier body also slid down, but he remained pinned to the tree.
She then her face close to his. "You are a good person Xavier Marshall, but we know have nothing to do with the death of your wife. So we don’t have the true answers you’re looking for," she whispered
Xavier eyes widened, the leader knew about the true purpose of his mission, she knew that he was investigating the events that lead to the death of his wife and dissappearance of his daughter.
"I’m truly sorry that i can’t help you but i suggest to stay off our backs from now on. We see your every move Xavier, don’t get yourself killed trying to solve the mystery of the dead, just live," she stated, caressing his face gently.
Then she withdrew her hand and returned the shell into the ring, replacing it with a remote looking device that had a mysterious appeal.
"I do hope that we cross paths again, maybe we can have that dinner you spoke of, giving the chance that you’re still alive by then," she added with a seductive smile and kissed his cheek softly.
She turned to face the female agent, who was now fully healed, and motioned for her to gather the other unconscious agents lying across the place.
Then she turned back to face Xavier. "You know, if i were you, and my wife dies that way, I’d really look into the crazy organization she worked for. Afterall, you can never really know who your enemies are, just saying," she muttered with a wink and walked away from him, joining the other woman who had managed to gather the unconscious men
Then the leader pushed a button on the remote she was holding, and immediately a hole ripped through the space in front of them, creating a phenomenon similar to the arrival of a Galactic beast, creating a portal.
Xavier’s eyes widened in shock, he had never been more stunned in his entire life. "Is that... A portal? How can they control it with a remote? How did they get it and are they the reason why we get attacked by those beasts? Are they behind it all?" he pondered, as different thoughts went through his head.
The female agent grabbed two of the men and entered the portal, while the leader carried the last one and turned to face Xavier one last time. "Have a nice life, Xavier Marshall," she voiced out before entering the portal as well, the hole closing in after her, disappearing like it was never there.
As soon as the portal vanished, Xavier regained control of his body and he stumbled to the ground from exertion. "What the hell was that?" he muttered, standing up and regaining composure.
"First an energy that depletes mana cells, then stealing of conch shells, and now they somehow can use portals, The O.D.D are upto something, something big. These must be how they were able to stay off the grid all these years, there was no grid, they were on another planet entirely," Xavier stated and began walking away from the area
"I have to let them know... No, i can’t trust them anymore, not after what they tried to do to Henry. And what did she mean by look into Triad? I’ve tried that many times but failed, but if someone like her is telling me that, then Triad probably had something to do with it,"
"I have to really take a breath and put the pieces together, but whatever dark dawn is plotting is more important right now. But who can i inform about all these? Perhaps i should tell Felicity, but i doubt she’d care," Xavier contemplated, different thoughts going through his mind, before his eyes spotted something shiny, stuck to the bark of a tree.
He moved closer to the tree to get a good look at the item, it was a long dagger that had a black hilt and a blade that seemed to be glowing with a bright purple hue. His eyes widened as he recognized the item, it wasn’t just any dagger, it was one of the weapons the dark dawn agents wielded when fighting with him. One of the weapons that allegedly possess the ability to deplete mana cells.
"It must have flew into the tree during my wild, tree frenzy. This is really great, now we can study it and see what the energy really is. Atleast that’s a good start, and i know the perfect person to tell," he muttered to himself before tapping on his bracelet. An holographic screen displayed and he scrolled it for a while before dialing a particular number in his contact list.
The device remained silent for a while before the transmission finally went through and a face appeared from the other side of the chat. It was a woman in her late 30s, she had long red hair and was putting on a white-framed glasses. She had bag under her eyes, indicating her fatigue and lack of sleep.
"You got me at a bad time Xavier, I was just about to get a nap," she said in a sleepy voice
"Oh, sorry Janine. But i think you need to show you something, and probably discuss some more things. I promise it’s something of interest," Xavier replied
"Really?" Janine perked up, her interest piqued. "Alright, don’t leave the area. I’ll be there soon," she said, her sleepy and lazed expression replaced with excitement and curiosity.
"Alright, I’ll be here," Xavier muttered and ended the transmission. "If there’s anyone that should know about all these, it’s the goddess of machines."
