Saturday night. Grand Ballroom. City’s biggest charity gala.

Both Watson and Mariano Enterprises were sponsoring. Which meant Jay and Keifer had to attend. Together.

Formal. Elegant. Cameras everywhere.

Jay spent ALL DAY getting ready.

Hair. Makeup. Dress. A red carpet-worthy gown. Deep burgundy. Fitted. Elegant. Her hair swept up. Diamond earrings. The necklace Keifer gave her.

She looked in the mirror. Took a breath.

"You ready?" Mama Reycee asked from the doorway.

Jay turned.

Mama Reycee gasped. "Baby... you look..."

"Okay? Bad? What?"

"STUNNING. You look STUNNING."

Jasfer appeared behind her. Froze. "That’s my daughter?"

Jay laughed. "Yes, Dad. Still me."

Jasfer grabbed Mama Reycee. "She’s too beautiful. I’m not ready."

Percy ran over. Saw her. Whistled. "Keifer’s gonna DIE."

Aries walked in. Stopped. Stared. "Okay. That’s... that’s a look."

Ella nodded. "He’s not gonna make it through the night."

Jay’s face went red. "You guys are dramatic."

The doorbell rang.

"THAT’S HIM," Percy yelled. "LET HIM IN."

Keifer stood at the door. Black tux. Perfect fit. Hair perfect. Face calm.

Then Jay walked down the stairs.

He forgot how to breathe.

She reached the bottom. Smiled. "Hi."

He didn’t move. Didn’t speak.

"Keifer?"

"You’re..." He swallowed. "You’re..."

"I’m what?"

"Impossible."

She raised an eyebrow. "Impossible?"

"Too beautiful. It’s impossible." He stepped closer. "How am I supposed to focus tonight with you looking like this?"

Her heart flipped. "Smooth."

"True."

He took her hand. Kissed it. "You’re stunning, Jasper Jean."

She kissed his cheek. "You’re not so bad yourself, Watson."

The families watched from everywhere. Hiding. Filming. Sobbing.

Keizer whispered loudly, "HE CALLED HER IMPOSSIBLE. THAT’S MY SON."

Serina wiped her eyes. "They’re so beautiful."

Jasfer grabbed Mama Reycee. "I’m not crying. You’re crying."

Aries crossed his arms. "Okay. They clean up nice."

Ella elbowed him. "They look AMAZING."

Percy was already texting Honey: THEY’RE GONNA BREAK THE INTERNET TONIGHT.

Keigan filmed everything. "Opening shot. Perfect."

Keiren ran up. "Kuya! Kuya’s girlfriend! You look like princesses!"

Jay knelt down. "Thanks, baby. You staying up?"

"No. Mommy said I have to sleep. But I wanted to see you first."

She hugged him. "Sweet dreams, kid."

"Sweet dreams, Kuya’s girlfriend."

Keifer patted his head. "Be good."

"Always."

The gala was INSANE.

Cameras flashed the moment they walked in. Reporters shouted. People stared.

Jay and Keifer walked the red carpet. Hand in hand. Perfect.

"Jasper! Keifer! Over here!"

"Look this way!"

"Who are you wearing?"

Jay smiled for photos. Keifer stood beside her. Stoic. Handsome.

A reporter called out, "Couple of the year! How does it feel?"

Jay looked at Keifer. He looked at her.

"Feels pretty good," Jay said.

Keifer almost-smiled. "Agreed."

Photos went viral within minutes.

Jay and Keifer mingled. Shook hands. Smiled. Networked.

But they always found each other. Across the room. A glance. A smile. A reason to touch.

At one point, Jay was talking to a businessman. Bored. Keifer appeared beside her. Hand on her lower back.

"Sorry to interrupt. Need my girlfriend for a moment."

He pulled her away.

She laughed. "Smooth rescue."

"I saw you dying."

"I WAS dying. He talked about golf for twenty minutes."

He almost-smiled. "I’d never do that to you."

"You don’t talk about golf at all."

"Exactly."

She kissed his cheek. "My hero."

Dinner was fancy. Too many courses. Too many speeches.

Jay and Keifer sat at the main table. Their hands linked under the table.

Then it was time.

Keifer had to give a speech. Both companies. Charity partnership.

He stood. Walked to the podium.

Looked at the crowd. Found Jay.

"Good evening. I’m Keifer Watson. CEO of Watson Enterprises."

Polite clapping.

"Tonight is about giving back. About community. About using what we have to help others."

He paused.

"But I wouldn’t be here without my partner. Not just in business. In life."

People gasped. Leaned in.

"Jasper Jean Mariano. My girlfriend. My equal. My everything."

Jay’s eyes went wide.

Keifer kept going. "She taught me that cold doesn’t work. That love does. That family—real family—is chaos and noise and absolutely perfect."

He looked at her. Soft.

"I love you, Jay. In front of everyone."

The room ERUPTED.

Clapping. Cheering. Cameras flashing.

Jay stood. Walked to him. Kissed him. Right there. On stage.

The crowd LOST IT.

Back at the Watson house, both families watched on TV.

Keizer was SOBBING. "HE SAID THAT. IN FRONT OF EVERYONE."

Serina cried quietly. "My baby. My romantic baby."

Jasfer grabbed Mama Reycee. "HE CALLED HER HIS EVERYTHING."

Mama Reycee nodded, tears streaming. "ON LIVE TV."

Aries pretended to have something in his eye. "It’s fine. It’s whatever."

Ella hugged him. "You’re crying."

"No I’m not."

"Yes you are."

"...Okay maybe a little."

Percy had his face in Honey’s shoulder. "I can’t. This is too much."

Honey patted his back. Also crying. "Same."

Keigan had three screens recording. "THIS IS GOING IN THE ARCHIVES FOREVER."

Keiren was supposed to be asleep. He snuck downstairs. Saw the TV.

"Mommy, is Kuya on TV?"

"Yes, baby."

"Why is he kissing Kuya’s girlfriend?"

"Because he loves her."

"Oh." Keiren nodded. "That’s nice. Can I have snacks?"

Despite everything, everyone laughed.

Back at the gala. The music started.

Keifer held out his hand. "Dance with me?"

Jay took it. "Always."

They walked to the dance floor. Everyone moved aside. Watched.

Slow song. Romantic. They danced close. Her head on his chest. His arms around her.

"You said all that," she whispered. "On stage."

"You deserved to hear it. Everyone deserved to know."

"I love you."

"I love you too."

They swayed. Ignoring everyone. Just them.

Cameras captured everything.

After the dance, they stepped outside. Balcony. City lights.

"Tonight was crazy," Jay said.

"You’re crazy. Best kind."

She laughed. "You’re soft now, Keifer Watson."

"Only with you."

"Good."

"Good."

He kissed her. Slow. Deep. Perfect.

When they pulled apart, she was glowing.

"Hey," she said.

"Yeah?"

"I’m glad we went from hate to love."

He almost-smiled. "Me too."

"Best decision ever."

"The best."

They watched the city. Together.

Inside, their photos were everywhere.

Keiren pointed at the photo. "Kuya and Kuya’s girlfriend are famous!"

"Very famous, baby."

"Cool. Can I be famous too?"

"Someday."

"Good. I’ll kiss someone on stage too."

Serina choked. "Let’s talk about that later."

Later that night. Jay and Keifer at home. Their home.

Curled on the couch. Still in formal clothes. Too tired to change.

"Today was perfect," Jay murmured.

"Almost."

"Almost?"

He pulled out his phone. Showed her.

A photo of them dancing. Soft lighting. Her looking up at him. Him looking down at her. Pure love.

"Perfect now," he said.

She smiled. Saved it.

"I love you, Keifer."

"I love you, Jay."

"Our kids are gonna see this photo someday."

"Probably."

"And know we were always this soft."

"Embarrassing."

"The best kind."

He kissed her hair. "The best kind."

They fell asleep like that. Tangled. Happy. Home.
