CEO Ex-Husband, Don't Bother Me-Chapter 154 - 137: Stop It, Let’s Cook
When he saw her push Sean Donovan aside and rush in, his anger finally subsided a little, but when he recalled how she had explained to Sean that she wasn’t with him, his fury reignited.
Naomi Shaw couldn’t be bothered with him. After changing her shoes and taking off her coat, she headed straight for the kitchen. Julian Donovan followed her in, closed the kitchen door, and pulled her into his arms, asking irritably, "Why didn’t you tell Sean we’re together?"
"I’m not with you, so why would I lie to him?"
Naomi pushed him away and hurriedly took out the ingredients she’d bought. Dissatisfied, Julian yanked her back into his arms. "What’s wrong with lying to make him give up? It would save him from pestering you every day! Or do you still want to rekindle your old flame with him?"
Julian’s words grew harsh in his anger. Naomi was infuriated by his comments, finding them completely unreasonable. She pointed at the kitchen door and said, suppressing her anger, "I don’t want to argue with you in front of the two children. Get out!"
"You think I want to argue with you?"
She glared at him, frowning as she tried to think of a harsh retort. Julian held her waist and raised an eyebrow, waiting for her verbal attack. Finally, she came up with something: "I’ll scratch your face up so you won’t be able to show it in public!"
The dignified hospital director with a scratched-up face would surely be laughed at, wouldn’t he? She had never physically attacked anyone before. The last time he had forced himself on her, she had restrained herself from scratching his face and only injured his back.
When she said this, Julian, who had been tense with anger, burst out laughing. "I thought you were going to say something truly vicious!"
She was always so kind-hearted. For her, this was the harshest threat she could muster. How could she possibly understand Sean Donovan’s despicable, underhanded tactics? Thinking this, Julian felt his anger gradually dissipate.
She had done nothing wrong. He and Sean were the ones at fault. He wouldn’t blame or resent her like he had today. From now on, he would only cherish, love, and protect her.
Naomi was irritated by his laughter and pushed him away firmly. "Stop fooling around. Let’s hurry up and make dinner!"
"Alright, I’ll help you!"
Julian cheerfully assisted her, and working together, they soon had steaming hot dishes on the table. During their cooking, Julian managed to steal several kisses while helping out.
Dylan, who had been holding his breath outside the kitchen listening to what was happening, let out a long sigh of relief when he heard Julian laugh. Gosh, seeing Dad’s murderous expression earlier, he thought they were going to have another big fight. Who would have guessed they’d make up and cook together?
He shook his little head. The adult world was truly too complicated.
With the meal prepared, the family of four sat happily around the dining table. Although the food was delicious, Dylan had become much more restrained since his previous experience of overeating had made him uncomfortable. He put down his chopsticks when he was satisfied.
In the end, Dylan ate just the right amount, but Julian ended up overeating. It had been a long time since he’d eaten her home-cooked meals. The last time, after much coaxing and pleading, she had made sour fish soup, but it had so much chili it nearly killed him. This time, under his strong protest and close supervision, she hadn’t added any chili at all, which resulted in him accidentally overeating.
After dinner, Naomi found some digestive medicine for Julian, who was sitting on the sofa rubbing his stomach. She poured him a glass of water. "Dylan doesn’t know when to stop eating, but shouldn’t you?"
"It’s only because your cooking was too delicious!"
Julian protested as he took the medicine. Then, thick-skinned as ever, he pulled her close again, caught her small hand, and placed it on his stomach, pleading pitifully, "Rub it for me..."
Naomi was nearly at her breaking point. Neither Dylan nor Joy had been this troublesome in all their years growing up; they had always been well-behaved and obedient. Yet this grown man in his thirties was more childish than either of them.
She pushed him away and stood up, completely ignoring him. "Rub it yourself. I’m going to put Dylan and Joy down for their nap!"
With that, she walked into the bedroom. Dylan, trying to please his sister, had volunteered to let Joy teach him to read music. But he clearly had no interest in it, and as the lesson went on, he started nodding off. Having just eaten a full meal didn’t help, and his eyelids kept drooping despite his best efforts to stay awake for his sister’s sake.
Naomi walked in smiling and picked him up, placing him on the bed. Dylan struggled to open his extremely drowsy eyes. "Mom..."
