CEO Ex-Husband, Don't Bother Me-Chapter 160 - 140: I Want to Strangle You
Naomi Shaw was so horrified by the scene she nearly fainted. Then, she began to struggle frantically against her ropes, shrieking Joy’s name, "Joy! Joy..."
Joy was her life. If anything happened to her, she wouldn’t be able to go on living. Every time Joy cried out, a sharp pain twisted in Naomi’s own heart. Her face streamed with tears as she fought to break free and get to her daughter, the coarse ropes chafing her hands and feet raw, but it was no use.
The person who kicked open the door wasn’t one of the three who had originally kidnapped them. It was a tall, thin man with his face covered. The man glanced impassively at Joy lying in a pool of blood, then raised his hand, pulled out a gun, and fired a shot into the ground beside Naomi Shaw. He then roared viciously, "Shut up!"
As soon as the gunshot rang out, Naomi Shaw immediately began to plead tearfully with the stranger. She screamed until her voice was hoarse, "Save my daughter! Please, save my daughter! If you don’t help her now, she’ll bleed to death!"
"Save her?" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
The man laughed coldly and raised his gun, pointing it at her. "I’m here to take both your lives. Why would I save her?"
"What?"
Naomi Shaw stared in terror at the dark, gaping muzzle of the gun. A wave of despair washed over her, making her wish she could just die.
His face was covered, so she couldn’t see his expression, but she could feel the murderous intent radiating from him. "Someone kidnapped you merely to threaten Julian Donovan. They don’t want your lives. But someone else *does* want you both dead!"
Joy’s shrill cries still echoed in her ears. Naomi’s vision swam. "You’re not with the people outside?"
"Of course not!"
The man tossed the words at her indifferently. She closed her eyes in despair, then opened them to ask, "Then who are you? Why do you want to kill my daughter and me? I don’t believe we’ve ever done anything to offend you!"
’At this point, I have no other choice. I have to stall for time so Julian Donovan can find us. Otherwise, Joy will have bled for nothing.’ As she thought this, she glanced in Joy’s direction. The little girl had cried herself nearly breathless, her small face deathly pale from blood loss. A pool of blood had already formed on the ground, and Naomi’s heart felt like it was bleeding, drop by drop, with it.
"Who I am doesn’t matter anymore. What matters is that you’re about to leave this world—along with your daughter!"
As he said this, he began to squeeze the trigger. Naomi sobbed, shaking her head in desperation. "You can kill me, but please, don’t kill my daughter! Please, save her! Don’t you have children? Aren’t you afraid you’ll go to hell for killing a child?!"
Hearing this, the man suddenly burst into wild laughter. "I’ve already killed so many people, I’m not afraid of hell. So what if I go? If I don’t descend into hell, who will?!"
BANG—
A crisp gunshot rang out. The laughing man, his gun still raised, was suddenly shot with pinpoint accuracy in the wrist. His own weapon clattered to the ground. Crying out in pain, he stumbled to the floor and turned his head in disbelief to look at the man who had just burst in and fired the shot.
"Julian..."
When Naomi Shaw saw who had arrived, she let out a piercing scream, crying out, "Save Joy! Hurry and save Joy! She’s hurt!"
Julian Donovan, who had rushed in with a murderous look on his face, tucked his gun into the back of his waistband. He turned to Felix Draper, who had followed him in, and ordered, "I’m taking Joy to the hospital. I’ll leave things here to you!"
That evening, when he arrived at Joy’s kindergarten, he couldn’t find her or Naomi. He tried calling Naomi, but the call wouldn’t go through. Years of hard-won experience told him something was wrong. He immediately had Felix Draper contact the traffic department and pull the surveillance footage for that road segment. Sure enough, he discovered they had been forced into a van.
He and Felix Draper then gave chase, following the van’s route from the footage, but the surveillance ended on the remote suburban roads. At that moment, the kidnappers called. When Julian had Naomi take the call, he heard her say in Thai that there was a billboard where she was. He looked around and saw several billboards in the vicinity, so he still couldn’t pinpoint their exact location.
When he then heard what sounded like one of the kidnappers hitting her, he became so agitated he felt like killing someone. He analyzed the area: it was full of factories and workshops. The kidnappers certainly wouldn’t take them anywhere populated. With grim determination, he had Felix Draper run a search for abandoned factories nearby, and they began eliminating the possibilities one by one.
