CEO Ex-Husband, Don't Bother Me-Chapter 84 - 82: Fatal Misunderstanding 1
In the end, his family didn’t force her to abort the baby.
Lara Nash and Ronan Joyce’s separation had been so brutal that no one wanted to speak of it afterward.
Naomi Shaw stayed with Lara Nash in Thailos for nearly a month. Although Lara always appeared calm, she was being torn apart by grief. She had even contemplated suicide once; if Naomi hadn’t found her in time, a sharp fruit knife would have sliced open her wrist. Since Lara refused to see her own mother, a terrified Naomi had no choice but to stay by her side at all times. Every day, she encouraged Lara to find strength for the baby in her womb and brought Dylan to visit, reminding her that she had to keep living for her child’s sake.
Julian Donovan called every day. At first, he would often ask how Lara was doing and when Naomi and Dylan were coming to Meridia. But eventually, he stopped asking. ’He must be tired of it,’ she thought. She looked forward to his calls every day, eager to hear his voice, eager to hear him say he missed her, even though it always made her shy.
That day, after leaving Lara’s house, Dylan looked up with a sad little face and asked her,
"Mommy, when are we going to Meridia to find Daddy? I really want to live with him."
She thought for a moment, then smiled and said to Dylan,
"How about we go tomorrow and give Daddy a surprise?"
Dylan clapped his little hands in agreement.
"Yay, yay! Daddy’s going to be so happy!"
Holding Dylan, she felt the blood rush through her veins, her heart pounding wildly. She had never done anything this crazy in her entire life—traveling thousands of miles to be with the man she loved, her heart filled with the eager anticipation of a young girl.
Ken booked the tickets for her and Dylan. To help with the surprise for Julian Donovan, Ken didn’t tell him she was coming, simply giving her Julian’s address in Meridia. Arnold, whose injuries had fully healed, drove her and Dylan to the airport. He was very sad to see them go, and his eyes grew red as he fought back tears.
"Miss Naomi, you have to be happy! I’ll come visit you when I have time!"
Naomi Shaw happily said her goodbyes,
"Okay, and you make sure to study hard! And you’d better find a girlfriend soon to take care of you!"
Arnold looked a little embarrassed.
"I’m not in a hurry for that..."
The boarding call echoed over the intercom. Naomi Shaw pushed her pink suitcase, gave Arnold a final smiling wave, and then walked away with Dylan, never looking back.
She didn’t know that behind her and Dylan, a figure had been watching her silently. Only after her silhouette vanished through the boarding gate did the person turn to leave. ’Is she finally going to find her happiness?’
"Tyson!"
Arnold caught up from behind and clapped Tyson on the shoulder. Tyson turned, frowning.
"How did you spot me?"
Arnold smiled at him.
"I saw your car following us a while ago!"
Tyson said nothing more. He just lowered his head and walked toward the parking lot, pulling out a cigarette and taking a harsh drag as he went.
"Tyson, Miss Naomi is finally going to be happy. You shouldn’t be so gloomy anymore!"
Arnold tried to comfort him. Tyson blew out a ring of smoke.
"If Julian Donovan dares to treat her badly again, I won’t let him get away with it!"
When Naomi Shaw and Dylan arrived in Meridia, it was morning, local time. The weather, however, was not on their side. A torrential downpour was underway, but it did nothing to dampen the mother and son’s excitement. Holding Dylan, she hailed a cab and headed for the address Ken had given her.
The taxi eventually stopped in front of an impressive villa. Just as she stepped out with Dylan in her arms, another car slowly pulled up to the entrance. A man emerged from the back seat. Dylan was about to cry out "Daddy!" in excitement, but he froze and looked uneasily up at Naomi.
She watched as Julian Donovan walked to the other side of the car, opened the door, and bent down to carry a woman out from inside. A man who appeared to be the driver got out to hold an umbrella over them. The woman was none other than Juliet Jennings, nestled in his arms with a look of tender affection. Completely oblivious to the mother and son standing in the misty rain, Julian carried Juliet toward the house.
In that instant, Naomi Shaw felt all hope turn to ash. The umbrella slipped from her grasp and fell to the ground. The downpour instantly soaked her and Dylan. Dylan hugged her tightly, letting out a sad cry.
Naomi was in no mood to pay attention to Dylan. ’I’m a colossal joke.’ She had come running here, full of joy, only to find him still wrapped up in a sweet romance with his first love.
’What in the world am I, Naomi Shaw, to him?’
It was the driver who finally spotted her and Dylan and said something to Julian Donovan. Julian whipped his head around, and his expression changed drastically upon seeing her grief-stricken face. He set Juliet Jennings down, snatched the umbrella from the driver’s hand, and rushed over to shield Naomi and Dylan from the rain.
"Naomi, what are you doing here? Why didn’t you tell me you were coming beforehand?"
His dark eyes were fixed on her, revealing a flicker of distress and guilt.
Naomi found it ironic. ’He feels guilty? He feels guilty after deceiving me like this?’
She could no longer tell if it was rain or tears streaming down her face. Facing him, she was unable to utter a single word. She simply shoved Dylan into his arms, then turned and ran off into the misty rain.
"Naomi..."
Julian Donovan chased after her, but she found a sudden burst of strength, shook him off, and ran again, vanishing from sight in an instant. Not wanting Dylan to stay out in the rain, Julian had no choice but to carry him back, planning to take the car to go search for her.
Held in his father’s arms, Dylan was sobbing uncontrollably.
"Bad Daddy! Bad Daddy! Daddy bullied Mommy! Waaaah..."
Julian Donovan’s mind was a tangled mess from Dylan’s accusations. He rushed toward the car with the boy in his arms. Without an umbrella, Juliet Jennings was now soaked to the bone. Seeing that he was only paying attention to his son, she yelped and shouted at him,
"Julian, my leg..."
Dylan cried even harder.
"Waaah! I don’t want this lady living here! Mommy will be even angrier!"
Julian Donovan’s head throbbed. He glanced at Juliet Jennings.
"Juliet, go back to your own place!"
Then he instructed the driver,
"Call a cab and send Miss Jennings back!"
With that, he got into the car with Dylan, started the engine, and sped off in the direction Naomi Shaw had gone.
Juliet Jennings shouted into the rain, flustered and exasperated.
However, once her anger passed, a triumphant smile spread across her face. She hadn’t expected her pity play to kill two birds with one stone.
She had merely staged a car accident, threatening that she would die without him, all in an attempt to make him stay. She never imagined that other woman would come all the way to Meridia herself and happen to witness the very moment he carried her from the car.
Still smiling, she took out her phone and dialed a number she had secretly copied from Julian Donovan’s phone—that woman’s number.
"Naomi Shaw, you saw that, didn’t you? I was in a car accident a few days ago, and Julian has been taking care of me tirelessly for a whole month. Oh, and I bet you didn’t know this, but the last time he went back, he was planning to ask you for a divorce. He just didn’t get around to it because something happened to you and your son, and he took pity on you!"
The call was disconnected. Juliet Jennings smiled smugly as she got into the taxi.
Naomi Shaw ran through the rain, crying. She was a complete stranger in this city, with no idea where to go or where she even could go. She had never imagined that after traveling thousands of miles to be here, she would be met with such a crushing blow.
Her phone rang. She answered it in a daze, and a smug voice came through the receiver. She couldn’t make out the other words, hearing only one sentence clearly: the last time he went back, it was to ask her for a divorce. Without a word, she hung up and collapsed into the misty rain.
Her heart was so broken, it had forgotten how to feel pain.
Amy Zimmers once said that we think we are so madly in love that we can never let go, but at a certain critical moment, you will suddenly wake up.
That was exactly how Naomi Shaw felt. She had never been so clear-headed in her entire life. After being so cowardly, so subservient for so long, she realized that giving up was only ever a single step away.
’This time, I’m getting a divorce no matter what. Whether he tries to stop me or not, I will never endure this humiliation and pain a second time in my life.’
