CEO, Your Wife Has Left-Chapter 106: Tsundere Qian
"That’s not what I meant. I’ll get discharged, you stay here!"
"If I’m in the hospital, who’s going to buy you coffee?"
Summer Lancaster’s gloomy expression instantly brightened. She practically danced with joy, her eyes shining. "You said it! No take-backs!" ’Summer truly couldn’t imagine what it would be like to see a cold, domineering CEO show up in front of her holding a cup of coffee!’
"Of course!" Kenneth Yates was a little surprised at how quickly her expression changed. ’Women really do change their minds faster than you can flip a page.’
Over the past few days, the two of them had fully recovered. They’d had enough rest and plenty of nourishment. Every day, Kenneth Yates had his family’s chef prepare and deliver all sorts of blood-enriching meals to the hospital, to the point that Summer Lancaster now felt like she was practically overflowing with blood. Everything seemed to have come to a temporary close. She chose to put her differences with Yvonne Lancaster behind her. As for Kenneth’s actions that day, she still didn’t understand them, but she was sure he had his reasons. A man willing to give his life for her was undoubtedly the most trustworthy person of all.
The next day, when the two of them were being discharged, they saw Dominic Thorne and Melody Donovan waiting for them outside. Summer Lancaster’s heart sank. ’She couldn’t believe Melody was still seeing Dominic Thorne.’
When Melody Donovan saw them, she rushed over to Summer Lancaster and gave her a big hug.
"Lancaster, I’m so happy to see you’re okay!" Melody Donovan said, her eyes sparkling as she stroked Summer Lancaster’s cheek.
But Summer Lancaster wasn’t moved just yet. Instead, she pulled Melody Donovan aside. "Why are you with him?!"
"He called and told me you were getting discharged today, so I came to pick you up. It has nothing to do with him, you’re overthinking it!" Melody Donovan said, spreading her hands matter-of-factly. ’It really didn’t have anything to do with him. She had planned on driving here herself, but he’d cornered her at her door before she could even leave. He insisted she ride in his car, and though she was completely against it, she couldn’t exactly refuse someone who was already on her doorstep. And that’s how this bizarre scene came to be.’
Summer Lancaster let out a long sigh of relief, her expression softening considerably. "Melody, you need to be careful. I don’t want to see your future ruined by some scumbag!"
"Don’t you worry. I, Melody Donovan, have seen my share of men. I know the good from the bad."
"I’m just afraid you’ll fall into a scumbag’s trap and won’t be able to get out!" The two of them chatted more and more animatedly as the minutes ticked by. Dominic Thorne, waiting on the side, was getting very anxious. By the time they finally finished talking, it was already noon.
Inside the car, the four of them sat in a vaguely awkward silence. Summer Lancaster’s mind wasn’t on Kenneth Yates; she was busy observing Melody Donovan and Dominic Thorne. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, yet their way of interacting didn’t seem like that of normal friends, either.
"It’s noon. Let’s all go get something to eat!" Dominic Thorne was the first to break the silence.
"I’m a patient. I need to eat something light. I want to eat food made by my wife. You guys go on your own!" Kenneth Yates’s words sent Summer Lancaster’s hopes of agreeing plummeting to rock bottom.
Dominic Thorne, who was driving, fought back the urge to cough up blood. ’So this is what they call being proud and difficult, huh? This was the first time he’d seen the Boss act so haughty. Before, only Sean Murphy was like this. Who would have thought the Boss had learned it from him?’
Summer Lancaster shot him a silent glare. ’He was getting more and more brazen. It was one thing to say things like that to her in private, but did he really have to announce them in public?’
"Yes, sir!" Dominic Thorne replied, giving a solemn military salute. Inwardly, however, he was dying of laughter. ’If he’d known this was coming, he definitely would have recorded what Kenneth Yates just said.’
