Thinking fast, Melody Donovan lifted her leg and viciously kneed him in the groin.

"Not at all. Why should my wife be nice to anyone else? As long as you’re good to me, that’s all that matters."

Summer Lancaster’s expression softened, clearly satisfied with his answer.

"Let’s go home, too." Kenneth Yates took her hand and led her toward the exit.

"But the party isn’t over yet. You’re the host. Is it really okay for you to just leave?"

"You think I paid all those people just to stand around and look pretty?"

Summer Lancaster stole a glance at Kenneth Yates and said meekly, "You paid for me to be here, too..."

Kenneth Yates said nothing. He simply took her hand and started walking out again. "A person can’t live without their heart..."

Summer Lancaster was confused. ’What kind of answer was that? Was he saying yes or no?’ A sliver of disappointment crept into her heart. ’He’s right, a person can’t live without a heart. But I didn’t mean I literally wanted to rip it out of his chest! I just meant I wanted his love. What’s gotten into him? I never expected that kind of answer.
