Chapter 286: Too Many Kisses

As soon as Ava stepped into the elevator, her smile disappeared. Ash would be coming to pick her up once more, intending to spend some valuable time together before taking her back home.

Ava is contemplating whether or not to disclose this information to Ash. While she strongly agrees to inform him, she realizes that it’s not just her own emotional state that is at stake here. She is also taking into account Ash’s emotional and mental well-being.

Observing Ash’s sincere efforts to improve his life, Ava is aware of how crucial it is to not jeopardize his progress. Consequently, she is carefully considering the potential consequences that may arise if she chooses to tell the information to him.

Ava was taken aback as Ash suddenly appeared before her, interrupting her deep pondering in the waiting area. Startled, she snapped back to reality when he greeted her with, "Hey, beautiful. Should I start thinking about my next target? You should only be thinking about me."

"I was just lost in thoughts about work," Ava replied, offering a smile to conceal her previous preoccupation.

"Alright, let’s go," Ash declared, heading towards his car to open the door for Ava. However, when he noticed that she hadn’t followed him and remained motionless, gazing into emptiness, he turned around. Concerned, he called out, "Ava?"

Ava shifted her attention back to Ash, her mouth opening and then closing in an attempt to articulate her thoughts. However, she found herself at a loss for words, struggling to express what she wanted to say.

"Are you okay? It seems like there’s something on your mind," Ash inquired gently, grasping both of Ava’s hands.

"Yes, um... can we go to my apartment instead? I feel more at ease discussing it there rather than elsewhere," Ava requested, her voice slightly hesitant.

Ash nodded, offering a reassuring smile to put her at ease, and they proceeded to enter his car together.

As they sat in the car, Ava remained quiet while Ash made an effort to engage in conversation, aiming to lighten the atmosphere and soothe Ava’s obvious tension. Knowing the importance of what she wanted to say, Ash sensed the toll it was taking on her self, further stressing the importance of the matter at hand.

Upon their arrival, Ash suggested that Ava freshen up first, as he had purchased ingredients and planned to cook dinner for both of them.

Ava agreed, taking the chance to cool down and ease her nerves while taking a shower. She had decided to reveal everything Amy had shared with her, as she believed in being open and transparent in their relationship.

Witnessing Ash’s consistent honesty, even when he anticipated Ava’s possible disapproval, she felt motivated to return that trust. She was determined to prevent any doubts from creeping into their relationship by upholding their commitment to doing what is right.

Following dinner, Ash arranged a couple of ice-cold beers in front of the TV for them to enjoy while watching their chosen TV show. Not once did he bring up the matter that Ava intended to discuss, showing his patience as he awaited her initiative to start it.

Ava kindly offered to handle the dishwashing herself as Ash had been the one to cook. Sensing that she may need some time to collect her thoughts, Ash respected her decision and settled in with his beer, opting to watch something while waiting for Ava to complete her task.

He didn’t have to wait for long as Ava soon took a seat beside him. Ash promptly switched off the TV, directing his full attention towards her.

"I’m ready to talk," she declared.

Ash tenderly lifted one of Ava’s hands and placed a gentle kiss upon it, assuring her, "I’m here to listen, Ava. Whatever it is, I’m here for you."

Ava’s eyes welled up with tears and tries hard to prevent them from cascading down her cheeks. With a shaky voice, she mustered the courage to ask, "Even if it involves Amy?"

"Yes, even if it involves Amy," Ash responded unwaveringly. "You belong to me, Ava, not her. You’re the one I am with now, not her. You don’t have to tell me if you’re not comfortable saying it. I will wait until you are ready," he stated firmly, offering her security in their relationship.

Ava shook her head, wiping her tear-filled eyes, knowing that the tears were on the verge of spilling. "No, I’ll tell you now. It’s something I must do, for myself and for Amy," she asserted.

Ash nodded, leaning back against the sofa, positioning himself comfortably as he listened attentively, ready to lend his full support.

"Amy wants to propose a deal between her company and yours concerning their crude oil," Ava explained, her gaze fixed on her hands as they fidgeted nervously.

As Ava glanced up at Ash, she noticed a wide grin spreading across his face as he stared at the wall, seemingly focused on nothing in particular. Uncertain of how to interpret that enigmatic smile, she was left wondering if it signaled a triumphant accomplishment or harbored a hint of malevolence.

Not wanting to wait for his reply, Ava taps Ash on the leg to get his attention back and asks, "What are you thinking? Your smile is scaring me. It looks sinister and pure evil if you ask me."

Ash’s smile widened further, and without warning, he planted a surprising kiss on Ava’s lips, catching her off guard. "This is good news, Ava! This is my chance to take over the company. You have no idea how good your news is! Thank you! Thank you!" Ash exclaimed ecstatically, showering her with kisses all over her face.

Confused and overwhelmed, Ava responded, "What do you mean? I don’t understand... Ash, please stop with the kisses for a moment and explain yourself!" She then covered Ash’s mouth for she is feeling dizzy already from the sudden rush of emotions and too many kisses that Ash is overly giving her.
