CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 327: To Back Out

Rei was able to secure a flight for himself, Amy, Mitch, and Dave, leaving his security team behind. They took the earliest flight that they could back to Monte City.

Anton had already informed Rei of what happened to Henry but left the decision to him if he was going to tell Amy and not wait for her to get to the hospital. It was the hardest decision that he had to make in his life.

Amy kept on asking and she cries nonstop, only stopping when she falls asleep. She also refuses to eat which makes them all worried.

They are on the other side of the world and the travel time is making all of them anxious. If only they could ride a jet they would so they can go back faster.

Ash was a lot calmer when the sedatives wore off. Mary stayed by her side, just like old times when they always have each other’s back.

"Do you promise to behave, Ash? If you promise to not harm yourself and anyone, I will tell the nurses to remove your wrist restraints, that you are already back to your sane self," Mary asked when Ash looked at her with a questioning look.

Ash nodded, "Alright, I promise."

Ash rubs his wrists after the nurse removed the restraint straps from his arm, he stayed sitting on the hospital bed and touched his forehead after feeling that it is starting to painfully throbs.

"Besides the wound, you inflicted on your forehead, I am sure that it is swelling as of the moment, by the way you slammed your head on the wall. Are you really that stupid and wanted so badly to kill yourself? I already have to tell Amy what happened to Henry when she gets here so don’t add more to my plate. I don’t know what to tell Ava that her stupid fiance tried to kill himself," Mary said sarcastically like how she always is to Ash and Amy since they were young when her two best friends do something foolish.

Mary then looked at Ash wondering why is he so silent and saw him looking at his fidgeting fingers on his lap while crying silently. She slowly went to Ash and sat in front of him on the hospital bed. She hugged him so tight and Ash lost it. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

He sobbed so hard that he can’t even breathe properly, Mary cried together with him as she rubs and pats his back. No words are needed between the old friends... just each other’s presence and shoulders are already enough to lessen the sorrow that each of them is carrying.

Ash was the one to pull away after a good long cry, "Is my dad in this hospital too?"

"No Ash, he was pronounced dead when the rescuers arrived and he was brought to the morgue of his insurance company. I already instructed them to clean him up, so he will be as handsome as before when you see him. I hope you don’t mind," Mary said.

"I don’t mind and thank you so much. You have always been the straight-headed one among the four of us. How about Ava? How is she? Can I see her?"

"She’s still sleeping, the doctors decided to keep her sedated for just a few more hours while they treat her so that it will be less painful for her. But the doctor wanted to talk to you about putting Ava into an induced coma while they do skin grafting and other experimental treatment if you want to," Mary said.

"So she already changed her guardian to my name I suppose," Ash said.

"What do you expect? You are the closest to a family that she can get. What is your plan now?" Mary asked.

"Plan for what?" Ash asked in confusion.

"Plan for your wedding, you dumbass! Will you still marry her? You have seen her state before you got knocked out right? So you know how bad her condition is and how extensive the damage to her face and upper body right?" Mary said as she cross her arms.

"I will have to talk to her," Ash replied.

Mary dropped her jaw and placed her hands on her waist completely dumbfounded by Ash’s reply. "Don’t tell me you are going to back out on your wedding just because her face got burned! You are not going to do that if you still want me and Amy talking to you!" Mary exclaimed in utter indignation.

Ash sighed and looked away, "I said I will talk to her."

Mary stomped her feet and walked out. If it was the old Ash that she knew, she would not doubt a single bit that he would not back out of his engagement with Ava. But after all his unwise decisions and foolishness in life, she doesn’t know him anymore.

All he could do is wish that he would make a wise decision this time. Not only that Ava needs him, but she also would not be able to forgive him anymore if he will leave her just because she met a very unfortunate event in her life.

"Are you ok?" Mary did not notice Anton in the hallway when she walked out of Ash’s room.

"I’m not!" Mary exclaimed before hugging Anton and crying her heart out. It was their first time to see each other after the news about the explosion broke out. And that hug is what they have been longing for the whole day.

Even though it is not them who were in that explosion, they still feel so bad that their friends are hurt both physically and emotionally and to add to that, Henry’s case is on a different level.

Anton hugged her back and comfort her, she can feel the heaviness of his hug. She knows that he is also worried about Henry but he is still trying his best to stand on his feet and be strong for all of them.
