CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 329: Heavy Heart
Following the doctor’s guidance, Mary and Rei promptly secured a VIP room for Amy. This decision came after Mitch had conscientiously updated Amy’s attending physician regarding her well-being throughout the duration of the tour. Swiftly responding to this information, the doctor promptly requisitioned a series of tests. Upon reviewing the results, the doctor strongly recommended that Amy be under hospital care for a brief period of observation in order to monitor her condition closely.
In addition to Amy’s situation, she has also become dehydrated due to persistent vomiting and her refusal to consume food or liquids, which occurred after she found out about the explosion. Knowing the gravity of Amy’s condition, the doctor talked to Sandra and Maya, as they stand as her sole relatives present. The doctor emphasized the crucial need for vigilant care, as the ongoing distressing circumstances could potentially worsen Amy’s condition. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Ash stayed in Amy’s room, seated by her bedside, unable to visit Ava yet due to the hospital’s strict rules and regulations. Meanwhile, Mary reclined on the bed, embracing Amy closely as tears streamed down her face. The depth of her compassion for her best friend was so profound that her tears continued until she drifted into sleep.
Approaching Amy’s physician once the examination finished, Rei and Anton inquired about her condition. The doctor responded, "I administered a calming agent to facilitate her rest and extend her sleep duration. We’ve initiated intravenous rehydration. Given her emotionally fragile state, her condition is exceptionally delicate and critical right now."
The doctor went on to emphasize the need for meticulous attention to Amy’s well-being. "It’s imperative that she adheres to her prescribed medications and vitamins and maintains a proper diet," the doctor emphasized. "Given the circumstances, her health must take precedence within her household."
Acknowledging the doctor’s instructions, Anton added, "Doctor, we also intend to hire a caregiver to assist Amy once she returns home. Your recommendations in this regard would be highly valued."
The doctor nodded in agreement, appreciating the proactive approach. "Certainly, I will provide my recommendations for the caregiver. Ensuring her comprehensive care and comfort is very important during this period. I will tell my secretary to send you the list as soon as I am done," the doctor said before leaving them.
"You should get some rest," Anton told Rei.
"I had some sleep in the plane, you are the one who should get some sleep. You haven’t rested since yesterday. Why don’t you and Mary go home? You will again face a lot of people tomorrow. How is Uncle Trev?" Rei said.
"He is devastated and fainted yesterday. He will go here later so before he does I will take a nap in the waiting area. He knows about Amy’s condition and said to wait for him before we try to accompany her to the morgue once more.
She is his wife and they can’t close the case and make a declaration until she is done with the identification," Anton stated as they both make their way to the waiting area.
Hours passed and Trevor Welsh arrived but Amy hasn’t woken up yet so they all patiently waited for her to wake up. Everyone is willing to sacrifice their sleep and rest just to be there for Amy.
Ash fell asleep as well beside Amy’s bed while holding her hand until he felt her move, "Amy?" Meeting her gaze, Ash observed her attention drawn to the window, through which the sun had begun to cast its rays.
"Ash... Can I be selfish and ask you to once more be by my side when I go and see Henry? I don’t know if I can do this again. I never thought that I had to identify a family member so soon in that room again," Amy said as she sobbed silently.
Mary was awakened by her cries and sat up while Ash stood up to sit on the bed opposite Mary.
"You can be selfish as long as you want, Amy. You know that I will always be here for you. Mary and I will always love you no matter what, you know that," Ash said making Amy cry more.
"Come here you two!" Mary pulled both her best friends into a tight embrace as they all cried together.
It was Amy to first pulled away from their group hug, "I am sorry Ash, for what happened to Uncle Lucas, I’m sorry for being selfish and not acknowledging it right away."
"Don’t be, it hasn’t synced in yet. Perhaps I am still in denial that he is gone for real now. We have been adrift for so long that I don’t feel that much sadness at the moment. Maybe I am used to this kind of situation because he has been dead for me for a long time," Ash said as he wipe his tears.
"But he is still my father at least when I was young, before my mom died, so at least for the last time, I will do what a son has to do," Ash added.
"I heard what the doctor said about me earlier... But I was too tired and groggy to react," Amy said before shifting her gaze to her hands.
Mary and Ash looked at each other with wide eyes then back to Amy.
"And this is the last gift of Henry to me, the best gift a woman can have. So for him and our kids, I will stay strong and be the head of our family. I will not disappoint him. Today I will take the first step and go to him to say thank you... and goodbye," Amy said with a very heavy heart.
Even though she still wishes that everything is just a dream, after finding out about the life that Henry gifted her, she must stay on her feet and move on one step at a time. She looked back and remembered that Jayson and Jena were still with her. She is not alone.
