Chapter 2103: Chapter 2111: Saying Goodbye

Then she turned to Alexander Forest and said to everyone, "I want to speak with Alexander alone."

Although this sentence didn’t mention Jane Sampson’s name at all, everyone knew that Kane Forest wanted to ask Alexander about Jane.

And evidently, several seniors were not too keen on Kane asking about Jane.

Just as the ward was in a state of stalemate, Peter Gingery happened to push the door open with a fruit basket in hand.

"Mr. Forest!" Peter, somewhat lacking in acuity, walked directly to Kane Forest’s side upon entering, oblivious to the tense atmosphere in the ward.

After entering, casually placing the fruits aside, Peter turned to greet the four seniors of the Forest Family.

"You all should leave; I want to speak with Peter." Kane quickly changed his remark.

Alexander had been staying at the hospital watching over him; matters concerning the Black Family, Alexander surely didn’t know as much as Peter.

Kane said this in front of Peter, so even though the seniors of the Forest Family were unwilling in their hearts, they couldn’t directly voice their refusal in front of Peter.

Father Forest sighed, took his wife, called for his brother’s family of four, and left the ward. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Father Forest thought, since she’s already gone, no matter how much Kane clings to it, he would eventually have to face reality.

After everyone from the Forest Family had gone, they considerately closed the ward door. Peter sat on the chair beside the sickbed, staring at Kane who lay on the bed looking exceedingly pale.

"Do you want to ask me about Jane? Go ahead." Peter, sitting there with a solemn expression, took the lead in speaking.

"Yes." Kane nodded, "Where is she buried? I want to go see her."

"Although saying these words might be cruel to you, Kane, you and she were impossible, so what is there left to see?" Peter sighed, "This time you truly had a narrow escape from death, barely wrestled your life back, how are you still fixated on her upon waking up?"

"I know it’s impossible with her, she’s gone, where’s the possibility?" Kane smiled self-deprecatingly, "I just regret it, why when she was alive, I cowardly didn’t dare to say even once that I liked you, now that she’s gone, I don’t even have the chance to say it out loud, I want to see her, at least, to say goodbye in person."

Now Kane genuinely understood, when you like someone, you must say it, if you keep it hidden, there might come a day when that person can no longer hear it.

Such regret, sometimes, will accompany a lifetime.

If you never picked it up, you could never put it down forever.

"Just wanting to say goodbye?" Peter asked tentatively.

"Say goodbye, and also take one last look at her." Kane’s eyes were filled with pain.

"Wait until you recover and can be discharged, then we’ll talk." Peter ultimately held back, refraining from immediately telling Kane that Jane Sampson was still alive.

Unsure how to say it, and uncertain whether telling Kane at this time was right or wrong.

So Peter thought, perhaps it’s best to let things take their natural course.

Thinking about Jane alone in the house, Peter didn’t stay too long at the hospital before leaving to return to the Black Family’s old mansion to accompany Jane.

At the hospital, even without waiting for Kane’s permission, Kane’s parents began arranging the matters of going abroad; Quincy Forest and Alexander remained at the hospital to keep company with the awakened Kane.

Once the adults left, Alexander became rather unrestrained in his speech.
