CEO's Ugly Flash-Marriage Wife Hides So Many Identities-Chapter 431 Eyes Growing on the Top of the Head
"You donβt find him annoying?" He Lan retorted to He Zheng in confusion, "Didnβt you use to say dad was annoying too?"
"Just yesterday, you said our dad is full of issues, always so high up. Sooner or later, heβll fall from his cloud and eat dirt, just like how I embarrass myself in Liancheng." π§πππππ«π·π€πΏππ‘.ππ€πΆ
He Zheng felt that bringing He Lan here was definitely not a wise move.
He Zheng frequently glanced at Si Ran, his worried look plainly revealing his concerns.
"Shut up." He Zheng snapped at his sister once again, annoyed.
He Lan was momentarily stunned, then asked in return, "Youβre acting weird, bro. Is there something going on with you?"
"What could be happening to me?" He Zheng immediately shook his head. "Nobody else is talking, but youβre going on and on. Arenβt you tired?"
"Not at all." He Lan admitted straightforwardly, "I donβt feel tired at all. Since you guys arenβt speaking, Iβm here to liven things up."
"If youβre so eager to liven things up, then go make dinner." He Zheng ordered in a deep voice, "Iβve had some food prepared, but weβll need to cook it ourselves."
The maid at He Zhengβs place only came for three hours during the day for cleaning and wasnβt around otherwise.
Living alone, He Zheng found it inconvenient having outsiders at home.
Moreover, he usually didnβt have meals at home.
"Nobody to cook?" Qiao Rui was also momentarily taken aback. She initially thought she could come for a feast, so it was a bit disappointing to find out there was nobody to cook.
"Isnβt Fang Mo here?" He Zheng looked at Fang Mo and said, "I bet no one has tasted Assistant Fangβs cooking skills, which are first-rate, by the way."
Everyone turned their gaze to Fang Mo, with an obvious sense of anticipation.
Fang Mo looked at He Zheng, flattered and surprised, "President He, if thereβs really no one to cook, I can give it a try. But I might disappoint everyone since I can only make homemade dishes."
"Iβll give Assistant Fang a hand," Si Ran immediately chimed in, "letβs go!"
She had already stood up and was heading towards the kitchen, wanting to escape for the time being, and the kitchen was just the place.
Fang Mo looked at Pei Liyan.
Pei Liyan nodded as well and instructed Fang Mo, "Go and try to make the dishes delicious."
Fang Mo replied, "Yes, boss."
He Lan couldnβt help but complain again, "Bro, youβre too much! Inviting us over and we have to cook for ourselves? Whatβs your real purpose here?"
"Consider it an opportunity for you to experience life. Isnβt that great?" He Zheng replied with perfect logic.
"Of course not!" He Lan said, "If everyone wants to experience life, why bother coming here? Canβt we do that at home?"
He Zheng, seeing his sister always undermining him, couldnβt help but say, "Youβre just representing yourself, not everyone. Maybe the others donβt feel that way?"
"We could survey public opinion!" He Lan said as she directly asked Si Ran who was heading to the kitchen, "Sister Si Ran, what do you think?"
Si Ran paused, glanced back at He Lan, and said with a faint smile, "I think you have a point. Itβs a bit freer experiencing it at home."
"See!" He Lan chuckled, "Bro, even Sister Si Ran thinks so."
He Zheng was both amused and frustrated, glancing at Si Ran before saying with a hidden meaning, "Si Ran, you think itβs better to experience life at your place?"
Si Ran felt that He Zhengβs words carried some kind of implication.
She answered cautiously, hesitating for a moment, "I think Miss He has a point."
"Then next time, weβll experience life at your place," He Zheng said directly, "It would certainly be a different experience."
Si Ran was taken aback, stunned for a moment, and finally gave an awkward smile.
He Zheng laughed triumphantly, his deep eyes locking tightly onto Si Ranβs.
He Lan added, "Sister Si Ran, donβt invite my brother. Heβs probably bored, which is why he came up with such a bad idea. If I knew weβd have to cook ourselves, Iβd have brought a chef with me."
He Zheng was almost driven to question his existence by He Lanβs retort, and he gave Pei Liyan a pleading look.
Pei Liyan was also troubled, casting a glance at He Lan before saying, "He Lan, do you have to argue wherever you go?"
"Argue? Not at all," He Lan dismissed, looking at Qiao Rui and then Gai Yin. "Well, weβre not arguing with you. Weβre off to have fun. Master, Sister Yin, letβs go and find something tasty to eat."
With that, He Lan whisked Qiao Rui and Sister Yin away.
Only two adults remained on the sofa, looking at each other with a sense of helplessness.
Pei Liyan murmured helplessly, "Qiao Rui said to call her, and you actually did!"
He Zheng chuckled bitterly, "Wasnβt it sister-in-lawβs instruction? If I didnβt call her, wouldnβt that be too disrespectful?"
Pei Liyan rubbed his temples, glancing at his wife, who had been whisked away.
He Zheng looked at him and said, "Forget it. Iβll go check in the kitchen if I can lend a hand."
"Then Iβll have Fang Mo come over," Pei Liyan suggested.
"Great," He Zheng said with a sly smile, "Thanks, buddy."
"Fang Mo, come here for a second," Pei Liyan called all of a sudden.
Fang Mo, who had just entered the kitchen, immediately replied, "Yes, boss."
He quickly came out.
Si Ran turned to glance at them, puzzled but said nothing.
When Fang Mo exited the kitchen, He Zheng happened to be walking over.
In the kitchen, it was now only Si Ran and He Zheng.
Standing tall, his presence in the kitchen made the whole area feel cramped. Si Ran involuntarily took a deep breath when she saw him.
"President He!" Si Ran spoke in a low voice.
"Si Ran, you donβt need to be so tense. Just treat this place like your own home and relax," He Zheng chuckled, his gaze never leaving Si Ranβs face.
Feeling helpless under his gaze, Si Ranβs entire body tensed up as she responded, "President He, donβt worry, Iβm very relaxed."
"Really?" He Zheng laughed, "But I see youβre so tense that your clothes look like theyβre about to burst."
Si Ran instinctively glanced at her clothes.
"Ha!" He Zheng laughed loudly. "See, youβre not confident at all; youβre relaxed."
Si Ran realized from the start that sheβd walked into a trap.
She felt a bit frustrated.
Noticing her cheeks slightly flushed, He Zheng said, "Iβll help you. Can you cook?"
Si Ran gave a faint smile, "I know a little."
"Really?" He Zheng was quite surprised, "Then Iβm in for a real treat."
Si Ran felt overwhelmed; what did this have to do with him?
Suddenly, He Zheng leaned in a bit closer, so much so that their distance almost bridged.
Startled, Si Ran didnβt dare to breathe.
With a sly smile, He Zheng said to Si Ran, "When I visit you next time, you can cook for me."
His warm breath brushed against Si Ranβs ear, causing her to instinctively move away, "President He, my humble abode wouldnβt hold someone of your stature."
